"Over-indulgence--A Spoiled Thanksgiving"

I stumbled upon this fascinating Thanksgiving watercolor, titled “Overindulgence–A Spoiled Thanksgiving,” by artist Alice Barber Stephens. It appeared in the US periodical “Harper’s Weekly” on November 28, 1896. Conspicuous consumption and overindulgence was an issue even back then. A thought-provoking slice of life of the aristocracy in this painting from the 19th century.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving… give thanks for all that you have and resolve to vanquish the stresses and problems you’re battling this year. Believe that you can be victorious. Reconnect with your values and embrace those things in your life that matter. Discard those things that don’t. Give thanks to God.

Be happy, be frugal.

About the author

I'm a conservative frugalist. My priorities: Watchdogging the government, making sure our tax dollars are spent wisely, living within our budgets (at home and in Washington, DC), and adhering to our Constitution and the conservative principles upon which it was developed by our founding fathers. Also, loving God, my family, and my country. Be wise, be frugal. God bless America!
