Revised Cost: Obama’s Inaugueration Jumps to Britain’s Estimate of £110M ($160M in US Dollars)

This just in from a UK media source: Barack Obama’s inaugural bash is NOW estimated far higher than the original $50 million (US dollars). In British pounds, as of today, the estimation has soared to 110 million pounds. I feel kinda petulant for having complained the other day about it being up to $50 million. Here is a quick visual breakdown of the numbers (based on current currency values, subject to change):
100 British pounds = 145.54 US Dollars
110 million British pounds = 160,098,737 US Dollars
1 £ = 1.45 $
Crikey. Wonder what his swearing-in ceremony will climb to tomorrow? Or by January 20? $200 million? $300 million? Totally nuts.

One more thing that made me snicker. Michelle Malkin’s got revealing info on her blog about Obama’s plan to dine like Abraham Lincoln at his inaugural ‘Abe themed’ luncheon.
Silly me thought that would mean regular-folk vittles on the menu, like ‘possum pie, sweet potatoes, fried chicken, collard greens with fatback, cornbread, chili beans… you know, humble fare. Nope. Which is surprising, since Michelle Obama has already told the media that one of Barack’s absolute favorite food is chili (and arugula).
Well, who knew that Honest Abe had a passion for expensive seafood? I’m just as surprised. Would love to see the citation for the documentation of OB’s research team that uncovered Lincoln’s secret cravings for scallops, shrimp, and lobster nestled in puff pastry. Man, they sure dined well during the Civil War… who knew? Click here for Michelle’s take on the continuing insanity.
Psst… Obama, you’re NOT Abraham Lincoln.
