Rush Limbaugh Exposes That Obama’s “Stimulus” Bill Bans Giving $$ to Fix College Buildings if Students of Faith Use the Building

Rush Limbaugh, Supreme Conservative Radio Talk Show PunditRush Limbaugh, the popular radio voice of moderate and conservative Americans, read aloud this morning one of the line items in Obama’s economic “porkulus” bill. The bill will be giving billions of dollars to colleges and universities to improve and upgrade campus buildings. However, NO money will be given if the facility is used by students of faith. What???

Sen. Jim DeMint of Georgia has tried valiantly to get this discriminatory item out of the bill (click here to read the news story or click here for another write up), saying it has absolutely no business being in the bill, it has nothing to do with creating jobs or helping the economy, but the House Majority has effectively voted him down. One more “Congress goodie” sneaked into the pork barrel.

So, should/when this gargantuan, pork-ridden bill passes (they say it’s been “trimmed down” to “only” $780 billion), money will be denied to fix any building where students of faith meet or pray. This includes the student union, the lunch areas, a student’s on-campus dorm room, an on-campus chapel, school auditoriums if religious speakers are hired to give a speech… ANYWHERE that religious meeting, praying, discussing, or reading occurs. This not only affects Christians, but Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, and other college students of faith. What about religious courses offered in the colleges’ curriculum? Will these be removed as well, or held secretly in an off-campus coffee shop instead? And what about Christian or other religious colleges? Fugettaboutit. No taxpayer-funded “porkulus” money, at all, will ever, ever, ever, go to them.

This is frightening. And perverse.

Naturally, colleges and universities won’t want their “fair share” of the “porkulus bill” to be withheld. Mark my words… it won’t take long before the administration of these institutions of higher learning will determine that to get their money with the least amount of fuss, they will have to silence and ban students of faith from socializing or having Bible or Torah or Buddhist scriptures studies. This is beyond frightening… this is yet another step toward oppression, socialism, and the dismantling of our Constitutional First Amendment rights. Is this even legal?

The American Center for Law and Justice has stated that it isn’t legal. If the provision isn’t removed, they intend to challenge it in federal court.

The mainstream media has not reported this freedom-stripping stipulation in the bill, nor do we expect that they will. Sen. DeMint, we commend and thank you for putting so much energy and courage into removing this heinous, anti-religious text, this hidden attack against religious students. Let us hope that others will be just as mystified and angry as to why this is even in the stimulus bill and lobby to remove and kill it. The entire bill needs to be killed and started all over again, but we know that won’t happen.

Rush Limbaugh is also under fire from Obama and his team for his ongoing criticism of Obama and his cabinet (like those who evaded paying taxes). Just a few days after his inauguration, Obama harshly chastised Republicans for “listening to Rush” and this “isn’t the way to get things done.” In America this is happening? A president publicly criticizing a private citizen who disagrees with him? There are speculations on hundreds of blogs that as soon as the bill is passed, new efforts by Washington and the new administration will be lodged to silence Limbaugh and other conservative radio talk-show hosts.

To do this, they will tinker with and launch the “Fairness Doctrine,” which isn’t the “fairness” it would like to be perceived as. Essentially, it will ban controversial speech or demand that equal time be given to opposing viewpoints, but only on the radio. On the surface, equal time seems fair. But how is that determined? By whom? Is it to give equal time to socialism, violent anti-American groups, anti-military groups, progressives, liberals, et al? Do they ALL need to have the same amount of time devoted as that of conservatives and moderates? It really has nothing to do with “fairness,” but in silencing those who don’t agree with the policies and directions of the government. Isn’t this the VERY thing our founding fathers wanted to protect our nation from? What people from other countries come here for, freedom of speech without government interference or punishment?

In our free market, movies become blockbusters because people want to see them and pay millions of dollars to do so; they are financial flops if no one goes to see them. TV shows garner awards and extended contracts when viewership is up. But radio is going to be treated differently. High listenership and growing ad revenue are not the issue. Even though Rush Limbaugh is the number 1 radio show host in America, strong-arm efforts will be launched soon to get him off the air or to muzzle him (or force him to satellite radio so as to limit his audience), as well as other conservative or Christian hosts, such as Dave Ramsey, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, and Dr. Laura. And the current thought is that Pelosi, Reid, Obama, and others have an idea on how to accomplish this WITHOUT a vote or WITHOUT input of American citizens. We need to keep an unwavering eye on this.

Why have so many US liberal radio talk shows failed? Because hardly anyone listens to them. In a free market, if you have no audience or customers, you go belly up, pure and simple. But with the Fairness Doctrine (likely to be named something else), they will grow. The listenership likely won’t grow (it’ll plummet), but Washington isn’t concerned about that. If you’ve read George Orwell’s 1984, you have a sinking feeling where this government-mandated speech could potentially head, and you may feel your blood starting to turn cold. If you haven’t read it, dash to the library and get a copy of it. It’s becoming a “brave new world” in America, and that’s not promising.

If you’ve not ever listened to Rush, but have heard all sorts of interesting, nasty things about him, we encourage you to ignore other people’s opinions. Listen to him for a show or two so as to make your own evaluation. Yes, he can be a bit over-the-top and grand-standing. He’s an entertainer. But his opinions are unwavering and clear. Rush is a tenacious patriot, a passionate lover of America and its productive people, a conservative – he wants our country to be great again and he doesn’t trust Obama or Nancy Pelosi to do it. He despises welfare, since it makes the people receiving it lazy and complacent and forces those with a pioneering spirit and strong work ethic to forever support them. He feels those who succeed should not be punished for their success. Those who fail should not be rewarded for it. Oh, he believes in giving a helping hand to those down on their luck, but only for a short while, until they get back up on their own two feet. Not forever.

If after listening to Rush, you still truly hate him, then, no problem. We’re glad you took the initiative to give it a go. Most importantly, you didn’t let someone else in Washington or in the liberal media (like those screeching, bubble-headed shrews on “The View” or some blatantly biased CNN journalist) cajole, dictate, or bully you on how you should feel.

Or think.
