Have you ever wondered where calendars go once the new year has begun? Not in the garbage, that’s for sure.

I was at the 99-Cent Only Store yesterday after work. A huge shipment of 2009 wall calendars had just arrived. Calendars showcasing dogs, cats, lighthouses, NASCAR, peaceful meadows, patriotic symbols… and young, beautiful women garbed in tiny bathing suits.

The 2009 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit calendar is now available at the 99-Cent Only Store. For just 99 cents.

A great idea for including in troop care packages — so many of our deployed troops need a wall calendar, and for a majority of the men, well, they’re testosterone-driven men. So, let’s just say this SI swimsuit calendar will brighten their day beyond words. And, it will continue to do so for the rest of the year. Normally, these wall calendars start at 10 bucks, but now that we’re 1/6 of the way through 2009, they’re a steal at 90 percent off.

Check out your local 99-cent/dollar store to see if they’re carrying these calendars. They’re cheap, unbreakable in a care package, and a real morale booster for the males stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan. A bit racy, to be sure, but not the salacious R-rated kind of raciness. More of the PG-13 level of raciness. If sending a sexy SI swimsuit calendar in a troop care package bothers or rankles you, there are plenty of other calendars from which to choose that are less controversial and will also be appreciated by our troops.
