Town Doesn’t Need Fed Money, Obama’s Porkulus Guys Say “Be Creative”

Have you ever gone to someone’s house and they want to feed you, even if you’re not hungry? Very charitable, to be sure, but embarrassing and well, a trifle annoying. It’s usually older female relatives, like your chipper Aunt Beulah (“C’mon, dear, you will love a bowl of my Hungarian goulash!”) who force food upon you when you least want it.

Now, it’s Obama’s porkulus guys (slash HUD) who are playing the role of Aunt Beulah. But it’s not a bowl of goulash they’re forcing on you. It’s money. A lot of porkulus money from Obama’s gigantic stimulus bill, funded by American taxpayers.

The suburban town of Union is being forced to take $578,661 in federal Recovery Act funding for a non-existent homeless and shelter problem. From Michelle Malkin’s blog this morning:

Town: Um, we don’t need porkulus money for homeless

Gee, how many times do you think this scenario is being played out across the country:

The Town of Union is getting $578,661 in federal Recovery Act funding for a homeless problem that may not exist within its borders.

The money is coming from the federal Housing and Urban Development program to pay for homeless prevention and emergency shelter programs.

Union did not request the money and does not currently have homeless programs in place in the town to administer such funds, said town Supervisor John Bernardo.

“We were surprised,” Bernardo said. “We’ve never been a recipient before.”

Bernardo said he isn’t aware of any homeless issue in the largely suburban town.

For now, Bernardo said he and other town officials are looking into why the town got the homeless prevention money and how – and even if – the money can be used by the town.

Glantz said the money can be used for people who may be in danger of losing their jobs and their residences.

“We hope and encourage these new grantees to develop creative strategies for the funding,” Glantz said of Union’s homeless grant.

“Creative” = Do whatever the hell you want with the money. Who wants an iPhone? Yippee!

At least with Aunt Beulah, you can have her wrap up the goulash to take home and eat later. What is our government thinking? The lack of frugality and responsibility of this administration is alarming and kinda hilarious (if only it wasn’t OUR government, which regrettably, it is). We can’t make this stuff up, kids…

(The creative spoof on Obama’s logo, top left corner of this post, is part of an informal Photoshop contest going on at Malkin’s site; this one was created by Anonymous. It says SO much.)

  1. Bob Stevenson says:

Keep on keeping on………..we love what you are doing, and only wish there were more Laura Ingrahams, Ann Coulters, and Michelle Malkins to Join with the Glenn Becks, Shawn Hannitys, and Rush Limbaughs of this world to get the word out to the American People that obviously Barrack can not walk on water, and none of his stimulus (spending) programs will ever hold water.

His whole ideology is so full of “holes” it’s a wonder it isn’t published in a book of fantasies and fairy tales for liberals. I find it overwhelming, but at the same time chilling, when the realization hits that nobody will ever really appreciate the extent to which his programs will permanently change our country. I hope the “sheep that elected him” are ready to get sheared, because we can all see it coming (those of us without blinders on).

I’m afraid it’s going to take a lot more than taxdayteaparty.com to stop him, and I’m really concerned that the damage will be done before he’s finished, which God willing is no later than the end of this term in office. I now have a whole new lack of respect for community organizers!

I’ll never quit being an Americans Patriot, proud of my country, at least the one I fought for, and what it once stood for, and can once again with the right leadership. That is what the Republicans, of Libertarians, or whoever have to concentrate on, finding someone the people can get behind, and support totally. Like they say, divided we fail!

Keep up the “Good Fight”, I for one am behind you 100%.
