President Barack Obama enjoying a glass of champagne, 2009

Remember last week when Frugal Café and many other non-mainstream sources reported that Pres. Obama has been partying every night in the White House, spending huge amounts of money on imported Japanese steak and liquor? And how, also last week, he snubbed the visiting Prime Minister of Britain? Canceled an important meeting because of snow, but instead, met with visiting Boy Scouts (who, by the way, braved the same ghastly snow to arrive at the White House). And of course, there was that unfortunate 25-DVD movie set (not formatted for use in the UK and the prime minister is nearly blind in one eye, so he doesn’t like to watch movies much anyway) that Obama gave the Prime Minister as a figurative last-minute-grab-from-Walmart gift of, uh, uh, appreciation for England’s support of America all these decades. The Prime Minister, on the other hand, gave him some really cool, unique gifts for the Oval Office, two made from wood from ancient ships, and a first-edition volume book set about Sir Winston Churchill. Classy vs. non-classy.

Apparently, White House “damage control” minions are telling the UK press that the reason Obama basically ignored PM Brown’s visit to America and the White House was because, well, being a US president is more demanding than he had anticipated, and with all the turmoil in the American economy, well, you know, he was “tired.” They tried to appear sympathetic and put a positive spin on it, but many of those “stiff upper lip” Brits aren’t buying it.

Without going any further, all we can say is: QUIT PARTYING, YOU WASTREL.

It’s just like a college kid who’s up dancing and drinking with his buddies until dawn the night before a big exam, and when he royally flunks the test, whines angrily to his parents that it wasn’t his fault, because “he was tired.” Of course you were tired, you nitwit! Partying until the sun comes up and doing the conga does that to people!

Here are two excerpts from the March 9 transcripts of Rush Limbaugh’s radio show broadcast, which adds more outrageous insult to injury with our British allies, if indeed the last part of the second excerpt from the UK Telegraph is true:

RUSH: And then we hear that the president was too tired to give a proper welcome to Gordon Brown. Yeah, he didn’t know that you have to have a joint press conference and maybe a state dinner the first time the leader comes to see you from your number-one ally. He was just overwhelmed, just too tired, so much going on, he had no idea. Well, what is that supposed to mean? Did we elect a kid here that has no executive experience at all, is that what we’re now being told, that we elected a good-intentioned, a well-intentioned kid, a community agitator, he had no executive experience, and he’s going to figure it out at some point, but don’t hold it against him. He didn’t know that these kinds of things are important. What do you mean, he didn’t know? There’s all kinds of protocol people in the White House.

RUSH: Let’s shed a little light here, ladies and gentlemen, on the White House policy with the United Kingdom. He was just tired. He was just tired. From the UK Telegraph, he was just “too tired” to give a proper welcome. However, if you read further in the UK Telegraph story, you come across this: “The real views of many in Obama administration were laid bare by a State Department official involved in planning the Brown visit, who reacted with fury when questioned by The Sunday Telegraph about why the event was so low-key. The [State Department] official [working for Obama] dismissed any notion of the special relationship, saying: ‘There’s nothing special about Britain. You’re just the same as the other 190 countries in the world. You shouldn’t expect special treatment.’” That from a state department official quoted in the UK Telegraph to explain why Obama disrespected Gordon Brown and the UK.

Additionally, Rush remarked, “Whatever they decided to do with Gordon Brown was purposeful, and I would come up with something better as an excuse than to say, ‘Our young, energetic, in-shape, very disciplined president was tired.’ That just doesn’t wash. Not with me.”

However, rudeness is not directed at all who come to meet with the president at the White House. Obama has hosted the 1970s band “Earth, Wind and Fire” and the singer Stevie Wonder at the White House parties. Officials at the White House met with actor Brad Pitt on March 9 to tap into his ideas/policy/procedure info on global warming and rebuilding New Orleans.

No class. No clue. No hope.

The infamous reset-recharge button Sec. of State Hillary Clinton gave to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov | March 2009

The infamous reset-recharge button Sec. of State Hillary Clinton gave to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov | March 2009

** And, a final sidenote about embarrassing gifts to other nations: What in the heck was with that clumsy-looking button Hillary Clinton gave, in front of all the world’s press, as a gift to Russia’s Foreign Minister? First off, the button looked like something a 7th grader would make in a woodshop class when he was bored. Then, the stupid button had the inscribed translation of the Russian word for “reset” wrong—stating, instead, “overcharge.” And, Clinton unintentionally made matters worse when she prefaced giving the button to FM Sergei Lavrov by saying that her staff had spent A LOT of time researching the Russian word (what, there are no WH staffers with the ability to access an Internet Russian translator?). She put him on the spot when she asked him if they had gotten the word right. Stepped right into it, Hillary. The FM could have just smiled and accepted your insipid red button graciously, but you forced him to delicately tell you in front of everyone that no, you did NOT get the word right. Burn!

This would be hilarious, if it weren’t our own country vying for the “Keystone Kops / Klown Kollege of the Week Award.” It sounds more like something the nation of Elbonia from the “Dilbert” comic strip would botch up.

So, here we are once again, gloopy egg on the face, giving yet another embarrassing, cheesy gift that defies logic and class to a world leader, and acting like Lavrov would really want a “cool” button like this from the greatest nation in the world (he’ll probably toss it into the airport trash bin before flying outta here). And, we publicly demonstrate that we can’t even be trusted to research a solitary Russian word correctly–can we tie our shoes properly? Even if Clinton’s people had gotten the translation right, who besides me thinks “reset” is a nitwit message? Do Democrats even UNDERSTAND what a gift from America is supposed to be? It’s not lame novelty buttons or DVD sets or plastic White House gift shop toys. Yes, Pres. Obama, the world is watching, and most are not impressed. Most Americans are cringing. Where’s the aspirin?

UPDATE: For an amusing read, check out blogger Jim Blazsik’s funny jerk-the-Dem-chain post: What if it was Sarah who made Hillary’s trip? He points out many of Hillary’s gaffes on the European trip, wonders how the media would have reacted if Sarah Palin had made the same embarrassing boo-boos, and includes the transcript of Hillary giving Lavrov the infamous “overcharge” button.

Apology letters prepared and sent to Gordon Brown MP and the British embassy in Wash. DC. Copy of letter also sent to the White House.

I’m enraged by the bufoonish Obama administration. What were they thinking? Are they capable of thinking at all?

Great idea to send a copy of the letter of apology to the White House and the British Embassy in DC, Douglas. Thanks for the additional tip.
