Machine vs. Man: Teleprompter vs. Obama in Battle to Control Free World

Did the POTUS teleprompter cause Pres. Barack Obama to make yet another ill-chosen, wince-inducing public statement on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno? (And I’m going to hold back expressing my disdain about our Commander in Chief asking to be a guest on a comedy talk show so that he can “snake-oil-sell” his porkulus packages and excuse the huge mistakes made by Tim “Boy Wonder-Blunder” Geithner to the public… an all-time low.)
So, please, tell us again about your mad bowling skills, Mr. President.
Which of these four best describes his insult to the disabled: it was another shrewd teleprompter sabotage, it was another Obama crash-and-burn ad lib gaffe, it was no big deal, or was it once again all George W. Bush’s fault? You be the judge: read Michelle Malkin’s posts: Obama’s “Special Olympics” joke: The teleprompter made him do it! and Obama’s worse joke — and insult to American taxpayers’ intelligence. And it wasn’t the first Obama foot-in-the-mouth blunder of the day, either. Earlier in the day, he equated AIG to a suicidal terrorist with a live grenade in hand… priceless!
With all due respect to many bloggers, myself included, as funny as it is to personify the teleprompter, in actuality, Obama’s Special Olympics gaffe with Jay Leno was made without the teleprompter’s help. Goes to show what will fall out of his mouth when not guided by the teleprompter and instead, by his own heart and brain. Remember his shocking impromptu comment about “redistribution of wealth” with Joe the Plumber when away from all his teleprompters? Or the crack he made about Nancy Reagan, widow of the great Ronald Reagan, having séances at the White House? It also sheds light on why he stood posing like a so-cool, tight-lipped “Rat Pack” mannequin during his televised townhall meeting/debate back in the fall with John McCain. No teleprompter there, so he had to be extremely cautious and not say what he really felt. Nope, can’t do that…

A final quote, from Rush Limbaugh on his March 19, 2009 radio show, in regards to Obama’s Special Olympics jibe: “So Obama makes a joke making fun of disabled people, apologizes for it, and everybody accepts it: ‘Ah, teachable moment, because we all know he really didn’t mean it.’ Sorry. He did mean it. You can tell what’s in people’s hearts when they’re not on the teleprompter.”
