Arrrgh, Mateys! Obama’s Too Busy with Housing to Comment on Somali Pirates’ American Hostages

I’ve been scouring for new info on the situation of the ship takeover and kidnapping of the US flag ship captain and crew member by Somali pirates.

Found this short update from Reuters just a few minutes ago:

Obama declines comment on US hostage crisis off Somalia
WASHINGTON, April 9 (Reuters) – U.S. President Barack Obama declined to answer reporters’ questions on Thursday on a hostage crisis off the coast of Somalia, where a U.S. ship captain is being held captive by pirates.

Obama was asked to comment on the situation several times by reporters at a White House event on refinancing for homeowners.

Obama, however, stuck closely to the script and replied that he wanted to remain focused on housing. (emphasis mine)

I’m speechless.

Oh, but wait… it’s Thursday. “The Morning After” Obama’s reported weekly White House Wednesday night party. That could explain plenty, but it’s only speculation. I’ve known many people who can not multi-task effectively and get snippy with others if they’re under the weather following a festivity with alcohol. I’ve known others who do just fine. I’m not saying he’s drunk… or hungover… or sleep-deprived. But it does raise my eyebrow and it does raise one question:

What would the press and liberals have done to former Pres. George W. Bush if he had said anything remotely as clueless and detached as this about the endangerment of US citizens?

Tar and feathers? Head on a stick? Lynching? All three?

This is grim, kids, real grim. Let us hope and pray that our president was actually following protocol by concealing a secret operation of rescue…

Have the US warships arrived yet?

From Reuters UK:

Democratic strategist Doug Schoen, who worked in the Clinton White House, called the crisis “a real test of national resolve” that the Obama White House and opposition Republicans need to work together to deal with.

“It’s an annoyance and a distraction,” he said. “On the other hand, if we don’t take this seriously and we don’t stamp it out, we will face what other countries are facing, which are repeated acts of piracy.”

From Rush Limbaugh, April 9, 2009:

“Obama said to reporters today, ‘Guys, we’re talking about housing right now, not pirates.’ Translation: ‘There’s nothing in my teleprompter about pirates right now.’”
