Obama: Stop Rewriting American History and Stop Attacking America and Christianity

I’ve been thinking a great deal lately about America and what it means to me. The danger of losing this lovely gem, this last refuge of freedom in the world, is beyond my comprehension. It surpasses the grief and horror I felt on Tuesday, September 11, 2001, as I watched the blazing, smoking World Trade Center towers in New York City crash down into a monstrous mountain of rubble and bones.

America is under assault, from within. Bit by bit, we are in imminent danger of losing her.

When Pres. Obama charged through Europe and Turkey this past week (UPDATE 4/19/2009: and now Mexico), apologizing to each audience for our country’s arrogance and closing his eyes to our goodness, minimizing our contributions through the decades to rebuild and support nations that were in need, subserviently bowing to a Saudi king and ignoring our nation’s cries for our Constitution to be upheld, and then saying that we are not a Christian nation, I became more and more angry.

“Stop it!” I thought. “You’re suppose to be on America’s side!”

How dare this mere mortal—a man who has been elected by a majority of those Americans who voted last fall to represent us—how dare he take the foundation of this nation’s principles so as to crush it and remold those principles and foundation to HIS own liking—to socialism, to totalitarianism, to ruin. How dare he think that he knows better than the likes of James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Patrick Henry, and the thousands who have given their lives on many battlefields to honor and defend those principles.

How dare he marginalize Christianity.

This is the week of Easter, of the Resurrection of Christ. It is to many the most holy of all Christian holidays, as it commemorates Jesus Christ’s rise from his tomb to heaven, His rebirth to save mankind. Obama has said publicly several times that we are not a nation of Christians. We are a nation of many faiths and we respect different religious traditions. That is truly one of our great traits in this country. But facts are facts. America is comprised of 75 percent Christians, and 85 percent of all Americans say religion is very important to them.

As was the case with most of our Founders, who did not endeavor to make America a “Christian Nation,” many of them worked tirelessly to indeed forge a “Nation of Christians.”

What Would the Founding Fathers Do?

What Would the Founding Fathers Do?

I love this country, I love our history, I love what we have done to make the world a better place. I love and am proud of the tolerance our nation has, a tolerance that many nations comprised of differing religions do not have. I love our nation’s spirit. I love our nation’s freedoms, including that of worshiping in the fashion you choose without government intervention.

The citizens of America are not perfect, and have atoned for many sins. But America is still a radiant, rare jewel that strives to be better tomorrow than it was yesterday.

Obama never embraces these qualities of America. When he mentions them, it is usually to segue to his socialist agenda, a preposterous bill or policy change.

I love that when our nation’s founding fathers worked for months on and created the United States Bill of Rights, the following was the FIRST right, the most important of all rights to them. This was no accident.

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” — US Bill of Rights, First Amendment

When anyone marginalizes or attacks America, he marginalizes and attacks me. And you. And all American citizens. Regardless of their religion.

Does Pres. Obama think no one would notice he was pandering to his foreign audiences, revising and twisting facts and history about America? Do the leaders of Muslim nations denounce their religion when in other countries? Is religion to Obama a “sometime thing,” not to be taken seriously? Is it just for those who are “bitter, clinging to their guns and their religion” as he said to a group in San Francisco, not realizing that his telling words would be heard through out the country?

Obama believes that all the world’s problems are America’s fault. That they are a result of our nation’s aspirations to empower the individual, that no one else and no other ideology is to blame.

We are one of the few nations in the world that embrace and protect all law-abiding people, regardless of color, religion, race, or creed. We are a nation that was founded on Judeo-Christian principles. Judeo-Christian principles, not Muslim, Gnosticism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, or Taoism principles. I am not being disrespectful of those religions. But they did not create America’s foundation. To say otherwise is a lie.

Our founding fathers reviewed and discussed the many governments of history while developing ours. They took the best elements from many, particularly those that limited government and protected the rights of the individual from the whims of the government, and they were sure to weave Judeo-Christian principles through out.

“It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ! For this very reason, peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here.”
— Patrick Henry

“And now I speak of thanking God, I desire with all humility to acknowledge that I owe the mentioned happiness of my past life to His kind providence, which led me to the means I used and gave them success. My belief of this induces me to hope, though I must not presume, that the same goodness will still be exercised toward me, in continuing that happiness, or enabling me to bear a fatal reverse, which I may experience, as others have done, the complexion of my future fortune being known to Him only in whose power it is to bless to us even our afflictions.”
— Benjamin Franklin

“The belief in a God All Powerful wise and good, is so essential to the moral order of the world and to the happiness of man, that arguments which enforce it cannot be drawn from too many sources nor adapted with too much solicitude to the different characters and capacities impressed with it.”
— James Madison

“The Bible is the best of all books, for it is the word of God and teaches us the way to be happy in this world and in the next. Continue therefore to read it and to regulate your life by its precepts.”
— John Jay

“It is the duty of all men in society, publicly, and at stated seasons, to worship the SUPREME BEING, the great Creator and Preserver of the universe.”
— John Adams

“The God who gave us life, gave us liberty at the same time. The hand of force may destroy, but cannot disjoin them.”
— Thomas Jefferson

Ronald Reagan embraced the principles of our founding fathers and those taught by Jesus Christ: “We will never recognize the true value of our own lives until we affirm the value in the life of others.” Newt Gingrich once said, “If you go to the Lincoln Memorial, the Second Inaugural is probably the most religious speech ever given by an American President. In its 732 words, it references God 14 times and has two verses of the Bible.”

Gingrich said last week on Sean Hannity’s radio show about Obama, “I think he was fundamentally misleading about the nature of America. We are not a secular country. We’re a country which was founded with a Declaration of Independence which says we are endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights. Now how can you say all of your rights as an American come from your creator and then pretend that you’re a secular society? We’re not.”

Hannity had this to say about Obama’s public appearances in Europe and Turkey: “How insulted should the average American be? Because I’m offended, because I don’t think we’re an arrogant nation. We’re the nation that actually saved Europe from Europe and totalitarianism, and we paid a very heavy price. My father fought in World War II. You know — and then for him to say, obviously, clearly not reading our framers and our founders, because they all refer to the Judeo-Christian ethic as the foundation of this country. How — what does that say about this president and his world view that he’s that out of touch with the principles that have made this country great? And why isn’t this president — isn’t he selling that and defining that for the world?”

To tell the world that we are not a Christian nation, to try to align our nation with that of others that are secular by denouncing what we are and from that which we came, is insulting to Christians and those who embrace its biblical principles. Those who strive, and often fail but continue to strive, to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. It suggests that Christianity has no place in present-day America, and that is wrong. Unequivocally wrong.

The truth is, socialism does not have room for God.

Obama’s reckless, tenacious pursuit of his socialist agenda must fail. He will otherwise destroy America as we know and love her.

God bless America.

From Rush Limbaugh, April 9, 2009: “I just identified the Somali pirates as Muslim, but I could be wrong about that. I mean, the president said that we are not at war with Islam. Maybe they’re orthodox Jews. Well, if they aren’t Muslim, they gotta be something!”

How dare he take my freedom, put my children and countrymen in harms way. Can’t they impeach this communist A**hole. He is a traitor to us, he has bowed down to our enemies and told terrorists what limits America will go to with interrogation. Now, they only have to train to withstand this level… We are no longer safe. How can this be my America???
