Pres. Obama enjoying a glass of champagne, 2009

It’s the elephant (or donkey) in the room that no one in the Democrat party really wants to talk about. Obama loves his parties and cocktails, as do many of his Washington/Chicago buddies. Since Obama’s inauguration, Wednesdays have become the unofficial party night in the White House. Wagyu beef at $100-a-pound, a number of celebrity guests, flowing alcohol, and conga lines until the wee hours… sounds like fun.

But, some of us WORK for a living, and don’t have the luxury/stupidity to conga the night away on a work night. And none of us are the elected leader of the most magnificent country in the world, the United States of America. We just have one POTUS. And he should be well-rested and mentally alert every day… even on Thursdays.

Pres. Obama’s teenager-like, almost sullen “who cares about you?” rudeness to visiting foreign dignitary PM Gordon Brown and his wife was bizarre. It was later explained by an Obama “clean up” staffer that the president “was tired.” Did that rudeness follow a Wednesday night soiree… thus, on a Thursday? Not really sure, since Obama’s blowing off of the prime minister occurred through out his visit to the United States. Obama’s hilarious teleprompter gaffe with the Irish PM occurred on a Wednesday (the occasion where he thanked himself for throwing such cool St. Patty’s Day party), but we already know that St. Patrick’s Day was being celebrated all day long and into the night (keep that green champagne coming!). Obama’s insulting joke about the Special Olympics occurred on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show on a Thursday afternoon.

Today, yet another Thursday, Obama pointedly refused to answer media questions about the status of the international situation with Somali pirates holding a US flag ship and US citizens hostage, saying he had to focus on HOUSING.

Are Thursdays proving to be a bad day for Obama (aka “Party Boy Obama”) and his staff to address the press with something more than “hope and change” rhetoric, or to make hard-nose socialist decisions? I’ve not really analyzed what has happened with Obama and his team on Thursdays (now to be referred to as “The Morning After”), but a bit of sleuthing may be revealing. I’m writing a note to myself…

Another blunder involving White House agenda emails has been discovered today, “The Morning After.” This is a portion from Michelle Malkin’s post White House e-mail gaffe by “sleep-deprived” staffer is revealing; not only was a draft email released prematurely by a member of the White House, but input messages at the tail end weren’t scrubbed first. Here’s a portion of her post:

…The most revealing part of the draft schedule gaffe:

In another exchange, one staffer recommended nixing a line about Obama meeting with leaders from the Veterans Service Organizations and Military Service Organizations since the president was now meeting with them before his remarks in an event closed to the media.

“Can we keep it and just change it to say before. It[']s good for us to say we are meeting with them,” another replied.

“It’s good for us to say we are meeting with them.”

If this were Bush, of course, the media would pound his administration for cynically exploiting a meeting with veterans for political expediency.

I’m not the only one who has noticed the growing number of blunder-prone remarks and antics of “Party Boy Obama and His Party-Hearty Cronies” on Thursdays; it could be just a coincidence. But here are some observations and comments from Malkin’s readers that suggest maybe not. And it could just be that Thursday is as gaffe-likely and goof-prone as any other day of the week, considering the admin’s cabinet choices:

  • One commenter on Malkin’s blog, b-cat, opined: They should put down the Wed night cocktails and go home like working people do. They’re not sleep-deprived, they’re drunk.
  • Another, cheapskate, quipped, “indeed those wednesday night keggers are likely to cause numerous thursday morning D’OHS. i wonder if the party will be memorialized as the ted kennedy memmorial think tank. ahhh anyone need a ride home?”
  • And this from iamsaved: “There’s been too many missteps in this administration for it to be from sleep deprivation. I thought it was only statesmanship that had gone out the window with this uncouth band of groupies to Obama. It’s appearing that they are inexperienced neophytes playing at the supporting role to the President. They haven’t a clue. Not only do we have a pretender to the throne in Obama, we have a group of amateurs who grabbed a tiger by the tail and can’t let go. Quick – somebody get Obama’s vault copy of his birth certificate. If it shows he’s not a natural born citizen, it may be our only chance to get rid of him early (although the thought of Joe Biden in there isn’t reassuring).”
  • I’ve got two more questions: Does VP Joe “Walking Gaffe Machine” Biden also attend these Wednesday night parties? And why are Letterman or O’Brien or Leno still tippy-toeing from making any Barack Obama jokes? Do we have to wait until after the president’s first 100 days in office? (Although, they didn’t even wait until Bush was IN office before starting on him). I think for Bush, they would each average three a night. For Obama, it isn’t even three total. Man, the material late night comedians and hosts are wasting, between Biden’s gaffes and “fish stories” and Obama’s partying and inability to function without a teleprompter… a crying shame.
