Those silly liberals. They hear about the conservatives protesting government waste and higher taxes at tomorrow’s major Tax Day Tea Party events and decide, “Hey, we want to protest, too!” Liberals protest all the time, so this should be easy as pie for them. For conservatives, we don’t protest too often, so this is virgin territory (like for me—this is my very first public protest event EVER).

But the liberals aren’t really sure what they’re protesting. Are they FOR higher taxes? Are they FOR more government infiltration in their lives? Are they FOR more corporate bailouts? (It’s a trifle muddling to be a radical liberal this week). They want to be OPPOSITE the conservative tea party protests, but, wow, that’s actually… cough… pretty lame.

So, that lack of focus and purpose partially explains why the Liberal Tea Party rip-off in Washington, DC the other day (April 11, 2009) was an epic, pathetic failure. And, I didn’t see a single teabag in the video.

They predicted hundreds of people would show up. The turnout was, maybe, 12? Hard to tell in the video who is actually part of the Liberal Tea Party protest and who is part of the normal foot traffic that lingered for a few minutes to gawk. Amusingly, the liberal tea party protest was outnumbered and outvocalized by a nearby anti-Iran protest. And the anti-Iran protests actually seemed to have a clue about what they were doing there in the gray DC drizzle.

The turnout for the liberal tea party ripoff was so laughingly dismal that one of the organizers claimed through his megaphone that Washington, DC rallies “always set the record for low turnout.” Moronic excuse. Poor guy… he’s never heard of the March on Washington. Or the Million Man March. Or tomorrow’s Taxpayer Tea Party being held in the nation’s capital, hee hee. Bet more than 12 people will be in attendance, but I also bet that NO major news station will cover it. That’s OK. Conservatives don’t expect those stations to report conservative news anymore, anyway.

Also in the video, liberal blogger Jane Hamsher declared at the protest that the “real Tea Parties” are “financed by Fox News” and that the movement is “just a bunch of people on the conservative end who are pissed off that they’re not the ones stealing right now.” Whatever that means. Of course, when the on-the-scene reporter asked her about her comments afterward and to provide some kind of proof for her allegations, she got distressed, refused to answer and walked away. Because… she lied! Priceless! Yeah, you BETTER run away from the camera, you lying fraud…

Tomorrow, I’ll be at the tea party protest in downtown Phoenix (estimated predicted headcount at this point for Phoenix is 2,000), with my daughter, her best buddy, and maybe my sister. I bought poster board on the way in to work today so that my daughter and I can make our protest signs tonight. I’m not very artistic, but she is, so they will hopefully be very cool. Or, at best, not look too stupid. I’m excited… I’ve not ever made a protest sign before. Feels very Woodstock-y.

Hey, “Liberal Blogger Jane”! Where do I submit my pay voucher to Fox News? And will they reimburse me for the poster board?
