Miss California Carrie Prejean | Christian beauty queen vilified by gay blogger and not supported by pageant officials for her honest answer about gay marriage
But now, she feels sorry for him. She told Sean Hannity, during her interview on his popular conservative talk radio program today, that she is praying for him, as are members of her church. She said she can see that Hilton is very unhappy in his life.
Carrie knew the question about legalizing gay marriage was a volatile one when Hilton asked her it. She had to make the split-second decision to stick to her beliefs. And she did.
To be honest in expressing her opinion to a controversial subject, she said firmly to Sean, “Never compromise your faith or convictions for anything. The Miss USA crown isn’t worth it.”
Carrie is a devout Christian, and said, “I am not perfect in any way. But I feel that I’m called where ever God leads me. I want to follow whatever path He leads me, speaking to young people. I believe marriage is between a man and his wife.”
She said, “I admit I fumbled in my answer, but I picked myself up, and was true to my faith and true to my opinion… for the sake of my Lord.”
Despite the scathing headlines in liberal blogs and newspapers bashing her further (and with more profanities), Carrie has been overwhelmed by support from Americans from all walks of life. She has received thousands of emails and calls. Women groups have contacted her and apologized for Hilton’s misogynist attacks. She said women across the country were “highly offended by what he is freely calling me.”
She’s incredulous about the support she is getting from thousands of Americans. “I’ve gained so much from this, emails from thousands of supporters, five thousand ‘friends’ on My Space,” she said. “Walking in New York and people wanting to take my picture, saying, ‘You are my new hero.’”
Carrie has also been contacted by many gays who have apologized for Hilton’s inexcusable, hateful behavior.
On the answer she gave during the Miss USA pageant, Sean Hannity said, “You were not trying to proselytize.”
Carrie agreed. “I wasn’t trying to press my views on anyone,” she said.
On the issue of same-sex marriage, Carrie told Sean that her family has discussed gay marriage openly around the dinner table on several occasions. Carrie’s sister doesn’t hold the same opinion, but as a family, they have agreed to disagree and to be respectful of opposing opinions. Carrie said she watches Sean’s TV show on FOX with her dad every night.
Carrie laughed at one point, as Sean played various sound bytes of Hilton’s rants against her. In an audio clip, the gay blogger declared shrilly that if she had indeed won the Miss USA title, he would have run up and jumped on the stage and “ripped that tiara from her head” and run off with it.
“I think that’s funny,” Carrie giggled.
Sean summarized his opinion of Carrie, calling her a worthy role model for children. “Never put ambition over what you know is right,” he said. We’re inspired by Carrie’s spirit and her honesty.
A class act all the way around. Carrie Prejean, God bless you.
Intolerance on the left… to any values or opinions or convictions that differ from their own. When will this outpouring of hate from the Perez Hiltons and Janeane Garofalos come to a stop?

A few comments about this whole mess that are posted on the Miss USA website (I left the typos alone):
“What was Trump/Miss Universe thinking when they hired Perez Hilton? Trump promotes integrity and truthfulness as important values… In my opinion, Trump’s own words, “You’re Fired” should be echoed and delivered to all of those who spoke out against Ms. Prejean for being truthful and speaking her heart.”
“Miss USA pagenant got a black eye this year. Get a real judge next year, not some bigotted flake.”
“NEWSFLASH! Not every GLBT person agrees with, or is a mirror image of Perez Hilton. He obviously has built his reputation on writing these kinds of things. Did you really expect anything different from him? If you are mad at this outcome, take it to the Miss USA/Universe organization. Do not take this opportunity, because that is what it is, to bash every GLBT person in the world; that’s just promoting the type of ignorance that you are claiming Perez exudes; not every gay man for that matter.”
“Where is the tolerance? The diversity? Must we all be lock-step and drink the Kool Aid? Christians such as Miss California, and myself, are tolerant of diverse attitudes & opinions. He shouldn’t have asked the question if he didn’t want her answer.”
“SHAME on the Miss USA Pageant for allowing this person to be a judge. Would a vegetarian judge a BBQ?? My HOPE is that Mr Trump and the Pageant will take steps to prevent this sort of thing from happening in the future. What a shame. America again the laughing stock of the world. God bless Miss California, and for that matter Miss North Carolina. Both are beautiful ladies.”

If I were her I would not feel sorry for him.
I am a Christian also, but the forgive and forget only goes so far.
She is young and now in the public light, and as she finds out who she’s up against, she may change her opinion.
Perez Hilton made an awfully quick transition from respectable pageant judge to vindictive media beast
Actually he’s always been a vindictive media beast, just read his blog or better yet DON’T. Allow his blog to fall off of the face of the Earth, along with his over inflated ego.
I’ve never been to Hilton’s blog. Deliberately have avoided it.
I’ve heard about it enough to know I’d be repulsed… I don’t need to look into an unflushed toilet after a beans and beer poker party of college guys to know that I wouldn’t like what I saw. (Yes, TMI… sorry for the vile mental image). And from what I’ve heard, despite all his disgusting efforts to shock, he isn’t a very good writer. Guess he’s the Andrew Dice Clay of this generation.
