Waterboarding Saved Los Angeles from Terrorist Attack, per Released CIA Memos

I was born in Los Angeles and lived in LA County until I was 12. We went to the beach a lot and I remember when Disneyland issued booklets of tickets for the rides… the “E” tickets were the best. My dad took our family to an authentic Chinese restaurant in LA’s Chinatown the night we saw Mary Poppins at the then-named Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. Great memories.

Therefore, this new revelation from CIA memos during Bush’s presidency holds special importance to me. I still have family living in So Cal. It also reaffirms my faith in the effectiveness of the Bush administration’s efforts to keep America safe from terrorists… and the interrogation method of WATERBOARDING was key to gaining crucial information to thwart an attack, as big as or bigger than the 9/11 attacks on New York City and the Pentagon, on Southern California:

CIA Memo: Waterboarding Saved Los Angeles from Terrorist Attack

The CIA is confirming that the use of the ‘enhanced interrogation techniques’ – yes, those techniques – saved the city of Los Angeles from a massive terrorist attack. The attack was specifically targeting the US Bank Tower, formerly the Library Tower, which is the tallest building on the West Coast.

It seems that Barack Obama’s statement that enhanced interrogation techniques such as waterboarding does not make us safer, just isn’t true. Imagine that!

The CIA is now confirming its claims made in a May 30, 2005 Justice Department memo that the use of ‘enhanced techniques’ of interrogation on al Qaeda leaders Khalid Sheik Mohammed (KSM) and Abu Zubaydah, which included the use of waterboarding, caused them to reveal actionable intelligence that allowed the U.S. government to stop a planned attack on Los Angeles. You can read that CIA waterboarding memo here.

Before he was waterboarded, KSM was asked about future planned attacks on the United States, he ominously told his CIA interrogators, ‘Soon, you will know.’

After KSM was waterboarded a wee bit he decided to become cooperative, providing intelligence that led to the capture of key al Qaeda allies like Abu Zubaydah who also enjoyed enhanced interrogation techniques. The information gathered from both KSM and Abu Zubaydah through waterboarding and other techniques, led to the discovery of the KSM plot called the ‘Second Wave’.

The ‘Second Wave’ attack planned by KSM, stopped by the use of enhanced interrogation techniques, would have hijacked a jetliner and crashed it into U.S. Bank Tower, formerly the Library Tower in Los Angeles which happens to be the tallest building on the West Coast. It is quite safe to say that without enhanced interrogations, there could be a hole in the ground in Los Angeles to match the one in New York.

Additional information obtained from KSM also led to the capture of Riduan bin Isomuddin, better known as Hambali, and the discovery of the Guraba Cell, a 17-member Jemmah Islamiyah cell tasked with executing that ‘Second Wave.’ Oh, and Zubaydah? He gave up detailed information regarding al Qaeda’s ‘organizational structure, key operatives, and modus operandi’ and identified KSM as the mastermind of the September 11th attacks.

And just for the record, KSM, Zubaydah, and a third terrorist named Nashiri were the only three persons ever subjected to waterboarding by the CIA. Other terrorist detainees were subjected to some of the other ‘enhanced techniques’ such as slapping, sleep deprivation, dietary limitations, and temporary confinement to small spaces — but not to water-boarding. Maybe worse then all, it has also been reported that they were tortured by watching Britney Spears videos and listening to the Barney song for hours. We’re just horrible!

During the Bush years, enhanced interrogation techniques were used including waterboarding judiciously and rarely. The CIA confirms the use of those measures prevented a terrorist attack on the city of Los Angeles. We were safer for eight years under President Bush’s watch thanks to his courage and leadership because he made it a priority and a committment to all of us (even those far left loons who want him prosecuted) after September 11th. We can no longer say that under the Obama administration.

To all those Hollywood liberals who continue to bash George W. Bush: He saved your sorry, pampered butts.

So, go ahead and continue to mock and marginalize and hate a man who is no longer protecting you. The man has been out of office for months, you myopic pinheads. Be sure to expend your moronic hamster-in-a-wheel efforts there, angrily ripping into the ghost of GW Bush, while ignoring and permitting the rapid-pace dismantling of our national security by our self-absorbed neophyte Messiah Obama.

To Washington:
Stop emboldening our enemies by spilling our national defense secrets. Stop this naive, petty Democrat witch hunt about how cold-blooded terrorists were treated; most Americans trust that it was far more humane than what would have happened to thousands of Americans, similarly to the devastating deaths of thousands of Americans on September 11, 2001. Stop this whiny targeting of the Bush administration and instead tell us how the Obama administration is going to KEEP US SAFE from death by the hands of terrorists.

To Barack Obama: Stop politicizing our national security. STOP IT NOW. You and your cabinet are blabbing too much, telling our enemies all our defense secrets. You are putting all of us in the crosshairs of terrorists. The “War on Terror” is not over, no matter how you want to revise the title to make it sound nicer, more “tree-huggeresque,” more third-world-country-murderous-dictator friendly. WE ARE IN DANGER… because of you and your radical actions.

Screw the rhetoric. Protect us. Protect America.

Excerpt from Pride of America:

Let me just start by saying that I 100% support waterboarding when necessary. If it’ll help save American lives, I support it. Go ahead. Call me ignorant, a bigot, and uninformed. I know what waterboarding is and how it is use. But like I said, if it saves American lives, I’m all for it.

Excerpt from Gateway Pundit:

Waterboarding does work after all: According to a former intelligence agent, waterboarding of terrorist Abu Zubaydah got him to talk in less than 35 seconds.

Scathing and clear-eyed observation from Rush Limbaugh, from transcript of his April 21 radio broadcast:

If you want to know the root of Obama and the left’s actions when it comes to releasing the CIA interrogation memos and now putting greater constraints on people in the field who go interrogate captured prisoners, there is a simple reality to explain it above and beyond the liberalism and the extreme leftism that is these people.

To explain it, let me proclaim an established truism. It is this: Barack Obama thinks he’s better and more moral, more special than any president we’ve ever had. He’s The One. I firmly believe he’s got a messianic complex. But even if you don’t believe that, you can listen to him speak just the last two or three days or the sum total of his speeches and you know he thinks he’s special. And this country was immoral and unjust until he came along — and now we’re on the right road.

Okay, if you have that established: America sucked, America had problems, America was not the best she could be, America was immoral and unjust before Obama gets here.

That means everybody was immoral and unjust, from George Washington on to George W. Bush. So what’s Obama up against? In the world of protecting the United States, nobody’s done it better, recently, than George W. Bush and his administration. After 9/11, not one single attack, by terrorists, on this country’s soil. That’s unarguable.

…The simple reality is that Obama and his people cannot deal with the previous administration’s success in stopping more terror in America.

Obama’s entire popularity poll existence, relies on the fact that people think he’s special, better than ever before, that everybody came before him — especially Bush — was the absolute pits. They can’t afford for one aspect of the Bush administration to be portrayed as successful. So, tearing up every aspect of the Bush administration’s counterterrorism and defense posture to protect this country, which worked, has to be torn apart in order to keep Obama up on the pedestal.

He’s supremely narcissistic, a man about whom this country is devoted to him. This is all about him. This has nothing to do with the country. It has nothing to do with our way of life. Every aspect of his presidency is about building him up, making him appear to be savior, messiah, whatever term you want to call it — and don’t think others are doing it. He’s inspiring it.

Next time that Los Angeles, or Denver, or Boston, or Seattle, or Chicago, or another major city in America is about to be attacked by Islamic zealots… well, I don’t even want to think about what will be the end result. We won’t have the same effective tools to find out and stop what the bad guys are planning to do to us, to America.

Heaven help us. We’re going to need it… POTUS Obama is now in charge.

except for the fact that the key players of the L.A. tower bombing were apprehended by foreign police over 6 months before KSM was captured.

    nice try though.

    * The “key al Qaeda operative” and pilot for the plot, Zaini Zakari, was arrested by Malaysian authorities in December 2002.

Khalid Shaikh Mohammed was captured in Rawalpindi, Pakistan on March 1, 2003 — after the plot was discovered, after the plot was “derailed”, after the pilot of the plane was captured. Khaled Sheikh Mohammed could not have “provided valuable information and saved lives” when all aspects of the plot were well-known and the attack had been foiled prior to his capture.

Great point … that’s exactly what I was thinking. KSM wasn’t captured until 2003 AFTER this was discovered!

If the Bush administration kept us so safe from terrorist attacks, then why did 9/11 happen in the first place? Politicians will be politicians — and I’m talking about ALL sides.

Along these lines, I would take Condi Rice back in a heartbeat.
