Freedom of speech is an American invention. Nowhere in the world is it upheld, honored, and cherished as much as it is (for now) here. It’s easy to take it for granted when you’ve had it all your life, as we have.

US journalist Roxana Saberi, now in an Iranian prison on weak charges
US journalist Roxana Saberi, arrested and imprisoned on trumped-up charges of espionage, turns 32 today in an Iranian prison. She has been denied seeing her defense attorney today and she is now on Day 5 of a hunger strike. The fact that she, an American citizen, has spent so much time in prison for bogus charges and there is nary a peep from our media is a travesty. Have you heard anything about this on the evening news? Me neither.
President Obama, what is being done about this? Or, are you too busy planning your next Air Force One joy ride? I read a tiny blurb last week, a statement from Hillary Clinton. It was of the blasé, noncomittal “hang in there, sweetheart” type of crap you expect from your hairdresser when venting about rising costs at the grocery store, not from the Secretary of State when a US journalist’s life is on the line in a foreign country.
Read the terrible details in Michelle Malkin’s post, Roxana Saberi blogburst.
Spread the word, bloggers, spread the word. The MSM is too preocupied with stories about the First Dog and what Michelle Obama is wearing today. Too busy bashing tea party protesters and finding new ways to marginalize Rush Limbaugh or Dick Cheney or Sarah Palin.
We can’t let Roxana be forgotten. Lord knows we can’t expect Hollywood’s liberal celebrities to be outraged about this infringement of basic human rights. They’re too busy with… with… uh… anything else that isn’t a real issue about freedom of speech or defending a fellow American. They’re too busy trying to get on Obama’s White House guest list.
Spread the word. Let freedom ring!
