Swine Flu Outbreak: Should We Blame George W. Bush?

Is George W. Bush responsible for the outbreak of swine flu that has shut down Mexico City and has the United States on national alert?
You know, I do believe some of the blame should go to our former POTUS. He was weak on border controls and weak on illegal immigration. I’m sure that some of the swine flu outbreaks in the United States were the result of LEGAL immigrants or American-citizen travelers coming back from Mexico, but let’s go a step further… let’s be logical and look at the numbers of illegal aliens coming here.
Each week, hundreds of illegal aliens are crossing into the United States across its southern border. Therefore, it is logical and rational to assume that if Mexico has an escalating swine flu epidemic, some of those Mexican illegals crossing our southern border are likely infected. Even if just one out of a hundred was infected, the rampant spreading of the virus in America would be inevitable. But how would we ever know for sure? Illegal aliens who may be infected with swine flu would likely never risk detection by seeing an American doctor for treatment. So, the reported number of people infected in the United States will, as a result, always be understated.
Tighter enforcement of our border laws, better adherence by our elected officials to our illegal immigration laws, and more authority given to our border patrol officers to do their jobs by Pres. Bush would have logically made a tremendous difference not only in our country’s health security, but in our national security. I think we’ve been compromised.

But, more blame should be levied upon our current administration (sorry, liberals, that’s it for the Bush bashing).
Already, short-sighted left-wing bloggers and liberals would have you believe that Obama is right, we shouldn’t worry about this super-charged swine flu virus. Now, if GW Bush was still at the helm, they would be responding with the shrill, wild-eyed mania they were famous for during Bush’s administration. Now, they are all scrambling to find a modicum of proof, somewhere, to discredit the concerns of this virus that are being voiced around the world by the general public and world leaders. That seems to be the naive Obama-admirer behavior; but why are other nations now banning import of US goods, discouraging travel to the US, if there wasn’t a dire problem? You don’t have to believe me… read this article with links to numerous major news sources around the world; from Russia, China, Portugal, Japan, and others (I don’t think they are influenced by so-called right-wingers, but if you’re a serious left-winger, you may think we’re in cahoots with Russia…LOL):
There is the whole issue of the Obama administration being even more lax (tolerant, turn a blind eye) on border control. Obama wants no borders, just one big happy family between nations.
It’s dumbfounding that it took our government’s crackerjack medical and security departments so long to react to the news coming out of Mexico for the past two weeks. It’s our immediate neighbor, so it seems it would have been prudent to have warned Americans about travel to Mexico before now.
When the entire city of Mexico City is LOCKED DOWN, an area of 20 million people, crikey… we have a big problem here. Especially since it’s been reported that our US public health officials were clueless about the swine flu problem until just a few days ago.
Who was sleeping at the wheel at the CDC or DHS? Or the White House? Which department or person is in charge of this? Was someone in the WH suddenly worried about us offending Mexico? Obviously, offending our border countries isn’t totally off limits… just look at how DHS Janet Napolitano has dissed Canada recently.
Human-to-human transmission of this super-charged virus, which is made up of several different viruses, is of grave concern. Typical swine flu is contingent upon contact with pigs. But not with this virus. This one is much more contagious among people than its earlier versions.
While there have been a growing number of deaths attributed to swine flu in Mexico, we have yet to have any fatalities in the United States. Emphasis on the word “yet.”
It is anticipated that this could become a pandemic.
From Michelle Malkin:
I’ve blogged for years about the spread of contagious diseases from around the world into the U.S. as a result of uncontrolled immigration. We’ve heard for years from reckless open-borders ideologues who continue to insist there’s nothing to worry about. And we’ve heard for years that calling any attention to the dangers of allowing untold numbers of people to pass across our borders and through our other ports of entry without proper medical screening — as required of every legal visitor/immigrant to this country — is RAAAACIST.

President Barack Obama’s assurances to the American people during this growing, serious health crisis? None. It was the weekend, after all. He went… wait for it… GOLFING. Eye rolling is allowed. But hey, Obama WILL be on television on Wednesday, preempting American Idol… AGAIN… next week. Not to address any of Americans’ growing concerns or anger (silly us, expecting that), but to firmly sweet-talk, empty-rhetoric-snake-oil-sell Americans on his beloved cap and trade agenda (translation: higher taxes on ALL energy uses, making Americans’ electric bills, gas prices, etc., go through the ever-lovin’ roof, all because of that climate change hoax spearheaded by Al Gore). Hey, being the president is HARD WORK, dammit. Fore!
And give Obama’s minions a day or two. They will find a way to lay all the blame on GW Bush for the swine flu making its way into the United States. Or on Republicans. Or on bitter conservatives. But not on the Mexican government nor illegal aliens nor their own administration for screwing up and not nipping it in the bud long before now.
