I stumbled upon an articulate and intelligent video interview with former sheriff Richard Mack.

In it, Mack provides insight on the limits of the federal government and the president, as well as the legal power many sheriffs do not exercise in upholding their Oath of Office to protect the American people.

A firm supporter of the US Constitution and a member of Oath Keepers, Mack discusses many current issues in this 7-minute interview, including what is law enforcement’s and military’s Oath of Office, Mack’s successful suit against the Clinton administration, the federal government’s creative efforts to revise the Constitution, the sworn duties and responsibilities of American sheriffs, and Pres. Barack Obama’s and his supporters’ efforts to increase gun control restrictions to dilute the right to bear arms guaranteed to the American people by our 2nd Amendment of the Constitution.

Here’s a text portion of what Mack says in the interview:

“The founding fathers established a system that would keep the federal government impotent. This is the time to reenact that. The 10th Amendment basically tells the federal government if you ever go outside Article I, Section 8 where the Constitution delineates and details what they can and cannot do, if they want to get creative, or if they want to expand the federal bureaucracy, or if they want to expand the power of the central government, they must refer to the 10th Amendment, which clearly states, ‘If we forgot anything, you can’t do that, either.’

“The 10th Amendment keeps the federal government in check because the states have the power to tell the federal government to ’stay out.’ And then, of course, that’s just going to scare governors and state legislators to death because ‘they might stop federal funding.’ What are you guys, crazy? Where do you think the federal government gets their money? It comes from you. Stop sending them the money and they won’t have anything over you anymore. But the main thing is, let’s just follow the Constitution… I want to make this very clear: The president of the United States cannot tell your sheriff what to do.”
