Liar of the House: Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi (D-California)

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is a BIG.FAT.LIAR.

And she’s been exposed as a liar. By the CIA.

From Human Events (graphic copy of EITs member briefings included on website):

Pelosi Knew about Waterboarding from the Start
Human Events | By Jed Babbin | 05/07/2009

She knew from the beginning. According to a CIA document compiled by the Director of National Intelligence summarizing briefings to Congress on the use of enhanced interrogation techniques on terrorist detainees, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Ca) knew from the very beginning that those techniques — including waterboarding — were being used on September 4, 2002.

According to the memo the very first briefing listed is 9/4/02 with then Rep. Porter Goss & Pelosi. The summary of the briefing says:

“Briefing on EITs including use of EITs on Abu Zubaydah, background on authorities, and a description of the particular EITs that had been employed.”

This directly contradicts Pelosi’s story, that “we were not told that waterboarding or any of these other enhanced interrogation methods were used.”

As Human Events reported earlier, Pelosi – by objecting to the use of the enhanced interrogation techniques – could have stopped them but didn’t.

Pelosi’s misstatements were apparently intended to divert attention from her and other Democrats in Congress who knew of all the enhanced interrogation methods — in detail — apparently as soon as they were being used.

PDF file that was released by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence: “Summary of the High Value Terrorist Detainee Program”

Excerpts from article written by Porter J. Goss, former CIA director, published in Washington Post, April 25, 2009:

A disturbing epidemic of amnesia seems to be plaguing my former colleagues on Capitol Hill. After the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, members of the committees charged with overseeing our nation’s intelligence services had no higher priority than stopping al-Qaeda. In the fall of 2002, while I was chairman of the House intelligence committee, senior members of Congress were briefed on the CIA’s “High Value Terrorist Program,” including the development of “enhanced interrogation techniques” and what those techniques were. This was not a one-time briefing but an ongoing subject with lots of back and forth between those members and the briefers.

Today, I am slack-jawed to read that members claim to have not understood that the techniques on which they were briefed were to actually be employed; or that specific techniques such as “waterboarding” were never mentioned. It must be hard for most Americans of common sense to imagine how a member of Congress can forget being told about the interrogations of Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed. In that case, though, perhaps it is not amnesia but political expedience.

[...]

The days of fortress America are gone. We are the world’s superpower. We can sit on our hands or we can become engaged to improve global human conditions. The bottom line is that we cannot succeed unless we have good intelligence. Trading security for partisan political popularity will ensure that our secrets are not secret and that our intelligence is destined to fail us.

This is utterly reprehensible. This woman defies logic.

Her lies have been designed to — what — bash Bush more? Make the CIA look like they concealed information from Congress? To falsely investigate someone… anyone… but who? Bush? Cheney? The attorneys who drew up the papers in good faith on our interrogation methods of terrorists?

She’s out of control with telling falsehoods and has apparently forgotten that she’s an elected official of our nation. There is no honor here. Did she think there was no proof that she had been thoroughly briefed about waterboarding back in 2002? Does she have a brain tumor or something? Or is she just a pathological liar?

Pelosi has played her lying, self-important, power-lusting games with our nation’s security one time too often… playing the “ha ha, we won” game has crossed a major line. No matter your party affiliation, you cannot condone this. Her actions cannot go unpunished. Silence is acceptance.

In case you can’t recall her lie from a few weeks ago, I’ll refresh your memory with this link: Glenn Thrush, Politico: Pelosi: I didn’t know about waterboarding

Just two days ago, she perpetuated the lie, in this TheDestinLog.com article

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., told President Obama she wants a “Truth Commission” to investigate the interrogation policies approved after 9/11 — an option that several congressional far left Democrats support. She also states that she was never briefed back in 2002 when she was on the committee.

Contrary to these remarks is an excerpt from a front page article in the Washington Post on Dec. 9, 2007, by staff writers Joby Warrick and Dan Eggen.

“Officials say House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) attended secret CIA briefings on interrogation procedures that clearly laid out the details of waterboarding and other ‘harsh’ CIA interrogation techniques in 2002. With one known exception, no formal objections were raised by the lawmakers briefed about the ‘harsh’ methods during the two years in which waterboarding was employed, from 2002 to 2003, said Democrats and Republicans with direct knowledge of the matter.”

“The lawmakers who held oversight roles during this period included Pelosi and Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.) and Sens. Bob Graham (D-Fla.) and John D. Rockefeller IV (D-W.Va.), as well as Rep. Porter J. Goss (R-Fla.) and Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kan).”

Why can’t these politicians tell the truth?

An investigation MUST be launched against Pelosi. Radio host Mark Levin, as this story broke during his show today, became so enraged that he himself may file for the investigation.

Remove her from office, the sooner the better. She is a menace. Pelosi has endangered our country, no better than a traitor, letting her ridiculous “playing politics against Republicans” shenanigans cloud her judgment and actions and putting all of us in potential jeopardy. How can she ever be trusted by the American public again when caught in such a dire lie?

Heads should roll for this, but for now, I’d settle for just ONE head rolling…

  1. AFVET says:

If this woman is re-elected it will be a miracle.

Levin is right, rake her butt over the coals in public.

She is obviously a serial liar, but I contend her stupidity (audacity) is simply outrageous.

No wonder they want to re-institute the fairness doctrine!

  2. iDEA Desk says:

Nancy Polosi, when asked whether she was accusing the CIA of lying to her during a 2002 briefing on the use of so-called “enhanced interrogation techniques,” said: “Yes, misleading the Congress of the United States, misleading the Congress of the United States. I am.” Here is Nancy Polosi’s email contact form to let her know your thoughts on her position. http://pfx.me/BI
