Another CFOYT Hypocrisy: “Captured Forever On YouTube” – Sen. Schumer on Terrorist EITs

“Liar of the House” Nancy Pelosi isn’t the only incompetent, hypocritical liar in Congress caught in a growing number of I-can’t-dispute-it-but-I’m-gonna-keep-trying whoppers about what and when she knew about waterboarding and extreme interrogation techniques (EITs) of terrorists.

Five years ago, Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York (D) expressed his opinion that really painful torture, likely far worse than waterboarding ever could be, is not out of the question if it is for a greater good. Like saving the nation from another terrorist attack.

Then last month, it was like Chuck had an evil twin brother who was a guest on Rachel Maddow’s show. He strongly stated the exact bloody opposite of his previous feelings about terrorist interrogations for national security. He said he agreed with the Obama administration that they must investigate the evil, egregious Bush administration, most definitely the Justice Department lawyers and maybe people at the CIA. Ruin their lives, their reputation, their careers… who cares? They must pay for their dastardly involvement and concealment of those tortuous EITs. We want voters to know we took ACTION against Republicans, dammit.

What an unmitigated crock.

Do none of these people know about YouTube? Public memory is selective, but damning video is FOREVER… it’s CFOYT, “Captured Forever On YouTube.”

And I’d like to interject a note of balance here. There are times when we all get in high dudgeon. We ought to be reasonable about this. I think there are probably very few people in this room or in America who would say that torture should never, ever be used, particularly if thousands of lives are at stake. Take the hypothetical: If we knew that there was a nuclear bomb hidden in an American city and we believed that some kind of torture, fairly severe maybe, would give us a chance of finding that bomb before it went off, my guess is most Americans and most senators, maybe all, would say, Do what you have to do.

So it’s easy to sit back in the armchair and say that torture can never be used. But when you’re in the foxhole, it’s a very different deal.

It sounds like Schumer is giving Jack Bauer the White House secret handshake to proceed with any over-the-top, in-the-foxhole interrogation technique necessary to get murderous terrorists to ‘fess up on 24 this season. Instead, he’s expressing his opinion to Attorney General John Ashcroft five years ago on “do what it takes” to thwart more terrorist attacks in America.

I liked Schumer’s take on when we do and do not torture. It was heartfelt, cohesive, and real. Not some crappy Democrat double-speak. Overall, a compelling oration. Patriotic and responsible for America and American lives.

Skip ahead five years… time to flip-flop. Schumer is singing another tune—no mention of the foxhole, no mention of high dudgeon, no mention of his previous SUPPORT of CIA extreme interrogation techniques. It’s weaselly witch hunt time! String up the lawyers! Did murderous terrorists get nicer in the past five years, Chuck?

Oops. Chuck doesn’t know about YouTube, apparently. It’s difficult to convince anyone that you’re on the Democrats’ “moral high road” when you have YouTube video to disprove you or reveal your reckless hypocrisy. What happened to your classic line, “Do what you have to do,” Chuck?

  1. AFVET says:

Pelosi just accused the CIA of lying.

    This is gettin’ really good!

The house of cards is teetering.

  2. AFVET says:

Just heard Rush broadcast a sound byte from the speech Obama gave to the young people in Arizona.

I have no idea what these students are studying, or what their aspirations are, but for him to attempt to persuade them to be “community workers”,
and disregard service in our military, or the business sector is un-presidential and socialistic.

Where is Bill Ayres in this administration? oh wait, on the phone.

Where is the administration of the Arizona college, and are they or are they not going to speak out against this propaganda?

This administration is seeking to destroy the American philosophy that hard work and conservative attitudes will play out in the long run.

We won’t take this crap for long,…watch.
