VP Biden Says to Expect “Scamming & Waste” of Stimulus Money on His Watch: Billions at Stake, Bring in Wile E. Coyote
Posted By Vicki McClure Davidson on June 3, 2009

Who's in charge - Joe Biden or Wile E. Coyote? VP needs help, can't safeguard billions of our dollars from being wasted or scammed
Good grief, VP Joe “Walking Gaffe Machine” Biden is at it again. Remember when Democrats believed “Crazy Joe” was the better choice over Gov. Sarah Palin as a vice president? Just one heartbeat away from the presidency… and “Crazy Joe” could be running the whole enchilada. Scary, scary thought.
Equally scary is that Biden is in charge of the nation’s stimulus money. Today, he warned Americans to expect that the stimulus money—billions of taxpayers’ money, $787 billion that America cannot afford to shell out and is intended for economic stimulus—will be either wasted or scammed. In fact, Biden said it’s happening now. Money is being wasted and scammed under Joe’s (cough) watchful eye.
Is “scammed” a White House code term for “stolen” or “paying off cronies”?
Scamming and waste are to be expected? Since when, Joe? Frankly, when I make a deposit at my bank, I don’t expect the bank to ever warn me that I need to expect some of my money to be wasted or scammed. I expect the money to be safe. The same holds true with our government, with YOU, since you’re the top dog in charge of the stimulus money.
For crying out loud, who’s in charge of watching this stimulus money, Joe? You or Wile E. Coyote?
What are you and the majority Democrat party doing to prevent this bumbling mess from happening? What safeguards and protocols are in place to keep our money SAFE from thieves and con artists and wasteful screw-ups?
Isn’t that the whole purpose of someone (that would be you) supervising the implementation of the stimulus money program? To keep track of all the money? To be sure it is directed to the areas of need? To keep it from being “wasted” or “scammed”? More transparency in this administration was to be expected with this administration… Obama said so. He’d be more transparent than GW Bush ever was. Well, the transparency isn’t there by a long shot… it’s damned murky. Credibility is non-existent. Competence is a joke.
This is way too capricious, too flippant. Managing BILLIONS of our dollars isn’t a hobby or a moonlighting job. Many Republicans warned that this would happen with the stimulus money, but Obama and the Democrat party assured the public that it wouldn’t. They said they would put into place a body of best management practices and procedures to watch every dollar that flowed out of Washington. Oops. Looks like they all either lied or underestimated their own abilities to follow through on this. As they were duly warned would happen by economic experts and the GOP months ago.
It sounds like Biden is hinting that it is a “given” that Washington politicians, mainly Democrats, can’t be trusted to watch over or keep their grimy little hands off this money. Heck, a few million missing here, a few million missing there, will be pinched and no one will be the wiser. No fraud here, ‘cuz Biden warned us all in June this would happen.
During the Pace University business meeting at which you spoke today in New York, Joe, it sounded like you were warning America to expect theft and waste from the Obama administration. So, we shouldn’t be surprised or shocked when it happens, right?
CYA at its finest.
You’re the Vice President of the United States of America. We expect a level of competency here. We expect a level of honesty here.
Most Americans did not want this pork barrel spending in the first place. We saw the stimulus package as being a bottomless rat hole for money to be willy-nilly dumped into, lost, wasted, or misappropriated. That was one of the major areas of protest at the tax protest tea parties held in April. We don’t want our tax dollars wasted by the government. Obama assured us no waste would occur. Now Biden is telling us, oops, waste is inevitable.
Biden can’t guarantee the stimulus money will go to where it was intended, until maybe in September. Maybe. And the government thinks it can run GM and a socialized health care system and a cap-and-trade program equally as efficiently and wisely? Just like this gigantic financial disaster-in-waiting?
From I’m a Pundit Too, last month:
Vice President Joe Biden even went out and threatened the local and state government officials that if they spent the stimulus money unwisely, he would personally go out and name names of the wasteful spenders. We were assured that the government would set up a website so that we could check for ourselves where the money was going. Shockingly, the truth is that the government has no clue as to where the money is going and the elected representatives who signed the check don’t seem to care.
To top it all off, Americans are now being threatened by the White House if we don’t quietly and blindly go along with this incompetence.
Michelle Malkin: White House pushing to gag stimulus critics
Caution: Obama gangland tactics at work.
In keeping with his past campaign tactics to shut critics up through brute force, the White House appears to be taking steps to crack down on critics of the trillion-dollar porkulus law.
…from a post on the White House blog by Norm Eisen, Special Counsel to the President on Ethics and Government Reform (emphasis added):
“First, we will expand the restriction on oral communications to cover all persons, not just federally registered lobbyists. For the first time, we will reach contacts not only by registered lobbyists but also by unregistered ones, as well as anyone else exerting influence on the process. We concluded this was necessary under the unique circumstances of the stimulus program…”
Are all of you in DC simply not skilled enough to oversee the stimulus program without botching it? And Americans are suppose to shut up, under government threat, about our anger over this waste and incompetence? The First Amendment of the Constitution doesn’t apply to criticism of the stimulus package, according to Norm Eisen. “Ethics and Government Reform” seems grossly misnamed…
There’s no way to be sure exactly what Biden meant today in his bizarre New York Pace University address, but one thing’s for sure.
Trusting Joe Biden and the Democrat party is for suckers.
Send in the coyote.
From Reuters:
Biden says some waste inevitable part of stimulus
June 2, 2009NEW YORK (Reuters) – Vice President Joe Biden acknowledged on Tuesday that some waste is inevitable in the spending of a $787 billion economic stimulus package, in a characteristically blunt assessment.
“We know some of this money is going to be wasted,” Biden said during a roundtable discussion in New York with business leaders aimed at promoting the two-year stimulus plan.
The package was approved by the Democratic-led Congress in February over the objections of most Republicans, who were concerned about the potential for wasteful spending and because it will add billions of dollars to U.S. deficit spending.
President Barack Obama placed Biden in charge of supervising implementation of the stimulus to underscore his promise of strict oversight of the package, which is aimed at creating or saving 3 million to 4 million jobs.
Biden said transparency and accountability are key to the program’s success.
“There are going to be mistakes made,” said Biden. “Some people are being scammed already.”
“Our credibility depends on transparency” for how taxpayers dollars are used, he added.
Your credibility also depends on not screwing up watching the money, Joe. Things are looking pretty grim for General Motors now… all that the government touches anymore turns to worthless sawdust or altogether disappears.

I saw Mitt Romney on the Sean Hannity show last night and must say the straight forward talk was indeed refreshing.
I sincerely hope he throws his hat in the ring for 2012.
With his experience in the business climate, and the high quality people I assume he would select for cabinet positions; wouldn’t it be a refreshing change for the country?
Also, I think that he is one of the few people that can turn this economic mess we’re in around.
I’ve always been a fan of Romney’s. He has so many positive leadership qualities and experiences, as well as sound conservative values.
I hate to say this, but because of his Mormon faith, it could prove to be a steep mountain for him to get over with a majority of staunch Christian Republicans. I would hope that such a bias did not exist, but I’m not naive. 2012 is a while away… who knows where the country will be by then under the leadership of Obama (whose Muslim roots are slowly hitting the mainstream media this week)? By 2012, religion may not be an issue if we’re in the mess I’m anticipating we will be in – a Mormon in the White House may be welcomed with open arms by that time.
I had the opportunity to work with a Mormon for many years.
They tend to be conservative, and God fearing, and devoted to family.
I am a Lutheran, and enjoyed many conversations with him on religious subjects.
He did not convert me, and I did not convert him.
Compare Romney with Obama, and the expertise Romney would bring to the presidency.
If Mitt Romney runs, there will be a vicious attack from the left on the Mormon Religion.
By that time, hopefully, America will be so sick of this administration………..that we will
WELCOME CHANGE !!
I live near Mesa in Arizona, which has a huge population of Mormons. Great folks, peace loving, family oriented, conservative for the most part. I hope that petty bias from some Christians will not impact his potential nomination.
I with you on this – let freedom ring!
