Troubling and Belated: Obama Finally Speaks Out about Murder of Pvt. William Long
Posted By Vicki McClure Davidson on June 4, 2009

Pvt. William Long was shot and murdered by a Muslim terrorist while with another soldier, Quinton Ezeagwula, outside an Arkansas military recruitment center
Pres. Barack Obama, after making a swift, passionate statement to Americans only a few hours following the Kansas murder of abortion doctor Dr. George Tiller (and on a Sunday), took nearly three full days to respond to the Arkansas murder of Pvt. William Long, age 23, and the wounding of another soldier, Quinton Ezeagwula. Thankfully, Ezeagwula survived the shooting attack and should make a full recovery. No other people in the area were killed during the shooting.
The arrested murder suspect of Pvt. Long, Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, is a Muslim convert and jihadi terrorist, who has told police he wanted to kill even more people because he is angry at how America has treated Muslims. Muhammad is being held on one count first-degree murder and 15 counts of terrorism.
The arrested murder suspect of Dr. Tiller, Scott Roeder, has been determined to be mentally ill and is a pro-life extremist. He was angry about Dr. Tiller’s late-term abortion practices.
Both men are extremists. Both men were driven by irrational anger to kill their targets. Both men were motivated by their personal religious beliefs and external forces. So much is the same about these two hate-filled, totally different men. But both murdered their targets—the same tragic end resulted for Long and Tiller.
However, the difference in treatment by the mainstream media and the White House is obvious. The difference in tenor between Obama’s two public addresses is also noticeable:
For Pvt. William Long:
“I am deeply saddened by this senseless act of violence against two brave young soldiers who were doing their part to strengthen our armed forces and keep our country safe. I would like to wish Quinton Ezeagwula a speedy recovery, and to offer my condolences and prayers to William Long’s family as they mourn the loss of their son.”
For Dr. George Tiller:
“I am shocked and outraged by the murder of Dr. George Tiller as he attended church services this morning. However profound our differences as Americans over difficult issues such as abortion, they cannot be resolved by heinous acts of violence.”
I don’t care WHY he took nearly three days to get around to doing it, I’m only glad that he tore himself away from exchanging comedic quips with Conan O’Brien for The Tonight Show to devote two minutes to this. Based on the content, I believe Obama could have done this in his sleep.
It was the right thing for the president to do for Long, no matter how late it was, as it was for him to do in the case of the murder of high-profile abortion doctor George Tiller. For the family and friends of Pvt. Long, and for many Americans, I’m relieved that the president finally took care of this so that we can move on.
But, many have noticed that there was no passionate denouncement of Long’s killer like there was for Tiller’s killer, no philosophical plea or expressed shock to the public for Long’s murder as there was for Tiller’s murder. I’m troubled that perhaps national pressure forced Obama to offer a few standard, lackluster words of condolence to the press about Long’s murder.
I’m not trying to be childish or petty or look for “line item equality” in what POTUS said and how POTUS handled both of these high-profile murders, but the differences, from start to finish, is blatant.
And still, in my opinion, troubling.
Thought-provoking observation from Renew America:
…By his own admission, George Tiller killed over 60,000 babies in his lifetime. That Barack Obama’s newly chosen Secretary of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius, has been identified as a prime recipient of Tiller campaign funds and is solidly pro-abortion tells us all we need to know about Barack Obama and Kathleen Sebelius. That she is listed as a Catholic tells us all we need to know about the American Catholic Church. As for George Tiller, a career spent procuring the deaths of thousands of innocents speaks for itself.
The murder of George Tiller was wrong on many levels. One does not answer a murderer with murder any more than one answers a liar with lies. As stated earlier, this act was a despicable act of violence and should be condemned forcefully by everyone in a civilized society. However, this piece is not about justifying what cannot be justified; the vigilante murder of a human being.
What this piece is about is the utter and despicable hypocrisy of declaring outrage for the murder of one man while fighting tooth and nail for the right to murder thousands into millions of unborn children. It is about the depravity of ripping an unborn child to pieces while preaching to anyone else about right and wrong. It is about having the gall to speak of innocence while mocking innocent life as expendable.
May these two men rest in peace, and may the Long and Tiller families be permitted to grieve and not be subjected to the slobbering jackals of the press.

On Obama’s responses to both incidents, it should give one a window into his character, and soul.
In my opinion, he does not have the character, or the soul to lead this great nation.
Any president that essentially dismisses the killing and wounding of innocent members of the U.S. Armed Forces due to his time table, while making sure the public hears his condemnation of the murderer of a baby killer soon after the fact should tell us volumes.
Shame on everyone from TheOne to the MSM for ignoring this murder.
But worse, what the details could’ve meant to lots more innocent people. When the truth is fully known, it might be explosive and terrifying. However, will most of us know? If we rely on the MSM to tell us… we won’t know the truth.
