Real quick rebuttal:

Palin is not insane. Repeat: Palin is not insane. An insane person would not be running the state government as effectively and wisely as she is. I sense some deep outrage at Christians and/or pro-lifers here, so I'm going to blow past all your other non-substantiated ramblings and insults against Sarah (liberals are starting to bore me), as it seems to be more at people of Christian faith or who have anti-abortion beliefs and principles. Readers, though, have at it if you want.

There is nothing in the Constitution "decreeing" keeping "people like her" out of a "position where they could use the country's military and economic resources," blah blah blah. You're fabricating information (my nice term for "you're lying".) Where is this so-called decree that is meant to keep people like Sarah Palin out of the government? Point it out, and if you're indeed right, I will be embarrassed and apologize. If such a decree were there, why is Barack Obama our president? He is far more radical than anyone was in Congress, and he has Democrats freaking out over his radicalism. Palin is not a radical, but you obviously want to hate her and blame her for untold stuff because she has a Christian foundation, so I'm moving on because dealing with religious bigots like you is like trying to reason with a puppy with a urination problem.

Schwarzenegger and McCain are not true conservatives. Schwarzenegger is barely Republican, he's "Democrat Lite," which is why you like him. And wow, he's sure running California well these days. So glad that insane Palin isn't in charge of his budget... Arnold has a state that is about to be flushed down the commode with its outrageous overspending. Most states run by Democrats are in serious financial trouble. Alaska is one of the few that is not in trouble - Palin has been far more fiscally responsible than most governors. Maybe we should have more "insane" governors as a result then? I have no idea what Col. Powell's real ideology is nor his true beliefs. I had a great deal of respect for him until he inexplicably endorsed Obama just before the election - what in the heck was that? I don't believe Powell is an actual conservative nor Republican, but is confused. Condoleeza Rice, on the other hand, would get my vote in a heartbeat.

You don't make jokes on national TV in front of millions, do you?... if you did, you should be held accountable for what you joke about, and you should be criticized if you joke about children being forced into sex with grown men. Freedom of speech isn't being violated here, just freedom to be a decent human being. Jokes in private with friends are NOT the same thing as being a talk show host on TV, but then, unless you're a total twit, you'd recognize that.

Didn't cover it all, but your assessment is right on about the GOP: they need to protect American freedoms and uphold the Constitution, unlike the Democrat party is these days. Latest poll is that 40 percent of Americans state they are staunch conservatives... maybe McCain and Gingrich have screwed up by presenting themselves as centrists and Palin was smart to be true to who she is. A conservative would be better than a socialist narcissist, right?

If the GOP wants to regain the respect of the majority of Americans, the LAST thing they should do is allow Palin to be a major voice or a driving force in the party. She is an insane religious fundamentalist who belongs to fringe groups whose core principles are upsetting stable governments around the world and installing Christian leaders in preparation for the second coming of Christ.

And you say you're committed to adhering to our constitution. Well, the First Amendment more or less is a decree to keep people like her from entering a position where they could use the country's military and economic resources to advance their own religious agendas. And that's precisely what she would like to do.

And what's sad is, she's not the only one; it seems like the whole damn party is like this now, with a few notable exceptions: Schwarzenegger, McCain, Powell... the so-called "moderates" which Old Man Cheney has taken so much time to criticize and tear apart.

If the GOP is to survive, it must ditch the backwards-ass religious fundamentalism which has become a major staple of their party platform. They need to return to true conservatism, not the kind that discriminates against minorities and homosexuals, wastes $3 trillion on a war that can't be won and erodes the protections of freedom and privacy as established by our sacred Constitution.

Just my two cents. And as for Letterman... it's just a joke. A JOKE! I make jokes all the time and don't expect to be taken half as seriously as people are taking this. Get over it.

Well said! Sarah Palin has withstood nonstop assaults since the announcement that she would be McCain's running mate. How many other people could stand strong for so many months of hateful attacks? She's got a spine of steel and Letterman is determined to bring her down because, although he won't admit it, he sees her as a strong force in the GOP. A remarkable woman with strong moral character, who now is saying "enough is enough, leave my children alone."

And yet, Letterman still won't apologize and left-wing media and bloggers are attacking her for defending her children. Some have the arrogance and stupidity to say SHE is exploiting the situation. Bottom feeders...

Letterman is a deranged slob- and his stale schtick's about as funny as a train wreck.

If Sarah Palin is SO silly and irrelevant, why the obsession? Clearly the Left noted her appeal, and are out to eliminate the threat- it’s not like it’s not obvious.

And she’s been highly successful in life while ignoring the left-wing feminist model… this helps to explain the extra dose of venom in the attacks.

Go get em, Sarah- and don’t mind the press, nobody will be listening to them anymore after the pending Obamamania implosion-
