Where’s the Money, Obama?? Coburn Reveals 100 Instances of Gov’t Waste of Stimulus Package Money

Yes, millions of conservatives (and some liberals) saw this coming, and protested and faxed and called and pleaded with Washington, DC to NOT approve Obama’s stimulus/porkulus package. I know I left many phone messages and emailed and faxed countless congressmen. I attended the tea party protest in Phoenix with my sister, my 18-year-old daughter, and my daughter’s boyfriend—where thousands of other concerned tax-paying Arizonans (a mix of Republicans, Democrats, Independents, and Libertarians were there) also protested.
Taxpayers at the tea party protests back on April 15 protested the stimulus/porkulus package, protesting the unprecedented amount of tax payers’ money being used, protesting the potential for government waste and abuse and earmarks for pet projects and not real stimulus for all Americans.
Journalists and news anchors at major liberal stations laughed at and ridiculed tea party protesters. They defended the Obama administration without question, saying it would be totally responsible, far more than the Bush administration. They would never be careless with billions of tax payers’ dollars. The MSM denounced the conservative tax payers at the tea parties, calling them alarmists and racists and irrational extremists for voicing such unfounded, naive concerns.
Well, AGAIN, the MSM Obama-bots were dead wrong. VP Joe Biden even admitted a few weeks ago that, OOPS, stimulus money had been lost, scammed, or misused. Any input on this government screw-up, Katie Couric, Andrea Mitchell, Chris Matthews, or Brian Williams? Nothing? No journalistic outrage, no wondering where in the heck money from the Obama porkulus package went??
Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) released a report this morning on the Stimulus package passed by the Obamacrats — 100 Stimulus Projects: A Second Opinion. The report highlights 100 examples of waste in the stimulus package… sadly, there are MORE than a hundred examples of Obama and the Democrat majority in Congress wasting our money. Where’s our money, and where’s the stimulus for Americans, Pres. Obama?

The Top Ten Abuses in Sen. Coburn’s stimulus waste report:
1. $1.5 million in “free” stimulus money for a new wastewater treatment plant results in higher utility costs for residents of Perkins, Oklahoma.
2. $1 billion for FutureGen in Mattoon, Illinois is the “biggest earmark of all time” for a power plant that may never work.
3. $15 million for “shovel-ready” repairs to little-used bridges in rural Wisconsin are given priority over widely used bridges that are structurally deficient.
4. $800,000 for little-used John Murtha Airport in Johnstown, Pennsylvania airport to repave a back-up runway; the ‘Airport for Nobody’ Has Already Received Tens of Millions in Taxpayer dollars.
5. $3.4 million for a wildlife “eco-passage” in Florida to take animals safely under a busy roadway.
6. Nevada non-profit gets $2 million weatherization contract after recently being fired for same type of work.
7. $1.15 million for installation of a new guard rail for the non-existent Optima Lake in Oklahoma.
8. Nearly $10 million to renovate an abandoned train station that hasn’t been used in 30 years.
9. 10,000 dead people get stimulus checks, but the Social Security Administration blames a tough deadline.
10. Town of Union, New York, encouraged to spend a $578,000 grant it did not request for a homelessness problem it claims it does not have.
Dr. Coburn added that Earl Devaney, head of the Recovery Act Accountability and Transparency (RAT) Board, estimates that at least $55 billion of stimulus funds may be lost to waste, fraud, and abuse. However, the final number will likely be much higher. If stimulus funds do not promote economic growth history may indicate that the vast majority of stimulate dollars would have been better off staying in taxpayers’ pockets.
