Obama Socialized Health Care Infomercial on ABC-TV Bombs; POTUS Drones On and On, Admits He May Not Want It for His Own Family
Posted By Vicki McClure Davidson on June 25, 2009
BHO’s plan to shove socialized health care down our throats is getting closer to that proverbial cliff. It bombed big time on ABC last night, with only 4.7 million viewers tuning in. Comedy reruns did better in viewership.
I have a few theories as to why.
1) Americans either don’t buy into his fairy-tale socialist bunk or have done some homework on their own and learned the frightening truth about his ObamaCare government-run, single-payer plan
2) Americans are sick to death of always seeing him on TV, constantly droning on and on and selling something, and decided to read just the highlights today (let’s cut to the chase, already) — might be that he has developed the negative “Paris Hilton Over-Saturation Syndrome”
3) Americans really do prefer watching situation comedy reruns to watching Obama
Additional: Could also be that the efforts of conservative bloggers decrying this government-run media bias and to boycott ABC-TV made an impact… one can hope. Additionally, some of BHO’s strongest supporters during his presidential campaign were liberal college students, and hey, it’s SUMMER, Dude!
It’s audacious that ABC-TV handed over the reins to its news programming to the government and didn’t see anything wrong with not offering balanced debate on such a controversial, life-impacting issue. Shameful and partisan and on the path to fascism or socialism. I’m elated that The Anointed One’s propaganda show tanked.
From Live Feed:
President Obama’s town hall meeting on health care delivered a sickly rating Wednesday evening.
The one-hour ABC News special “Primetime: Questions for the President: Prescription for America” (4.7 million viewers, 1.1 preliminary adults 18-49 rating) had the fewest viewers in the 10 p.m. hour. The special tied some 8 p.m. comedy repeats as the lowest-rated program on a major broadcast network.
Does Obama believe in his socialized health care plan enough to use and entrust it for his own family and loved ones? Hmm… doesn’t look like it. That really sells it for me, Barry—Americans will happily and stupidly go along with a government-run health care plan that you orchestrated, but don’t want for your own family… NOT!
From Hot Air, Obama’s Michael Dukakis moment:
Barack Obama got ABC to move their news division into the White House in order to make the big pitch for his egalitarian, everyone-gets-treated-equally ObamaCare push. Instead, Obama fumbled into a Michael Dukakis moment that exposed him as a hypocrite. ABC itself leads with Obama’s response that he wouldn’t stay within his own plan for his family:
President Obama struggled to explain today whether his health care reform proposals would force normal Americans to make sacrifices that wealthier, more powerful people — like the president himself — wouldn’t face.
The probing questions came from two skeptical neurologists during ABC News’ special on health care reform, “Questions for the President: Prescription for America,” anchored from the White House by Diane Sawyer and Charles Gibson.
Dr. Orrin Devinsky, a neurologist and researcher at the New York University Langone Medical Center, said that elites often propose health care solutions that limit options for the general public, secure in the knowledge that if they or their loves ones get sick, they will be able to afford the best care available, even if it’s not provided by insurance.
Devinsky asked the president pointedly if he would be willing to promise that he wouldn’t seek such extraordinary help for his wife or daughters if they became sick and the public plan he’s proposing limited the tests or treatment they can get.
The president refused to make such a pledge, though he allowed that if “it’s my family member, if it’s my wife, if it’s my children, if it’s my grandmother, I always want them to get the very best care.["]
Oopsie! So ObamaCare for thee, but not for me? Hope and change, baby!
Great observations from John Romano at Big Hollywood:
Obama did not move the needle forward the other night. ABC must surely regret its decision to have hosted this partisan affair. Not only were they shown as the tools of the Obama media machine that they are, but they bored the American public to tears. One thing stuck out: I don’t ever remember seeing the President of the United States sit around while a network took a commercial break. It debased the Presidency. How did ABC pull that one off? President Obama could of surely gotten ABC to go commercial free, couldn’t he have? Perhaps the networks are fighting back against the “all me” President, if ever so slightly.
The focus of the show seemed to be primarily on old people. Odd, not just because the gray bashing seems like it is out of some apocalyptic Bruce Willis flick, but because they chose to focus on “end of life” over the 800 pound gorilla in the room: Illegal Immigration. “End of life” is a thinly veiled reference to pulling the plug on old people. When the President uttered his “Americans have faced challenges before, and we always rise to them” or something like that, I nodded off, and then I could only think, yeah – the way we tackled illegal immigration. Head on and with decisive spinelessness.
NewsBusters has a terrific recap, complete with excellent info and statistics, and below are two I’ve shamelessly photo-captured. Check out the NewsBusters site to read the entire appraisal of The Obama Show, including his “Artful Dodger” attempts to divert and dodge and not really answer those tough (cough) questions.
