John Boehner: Champion for Americans, Reads Aloud the Shocking Additions to the Global Warming Tax Increase Bill
Posted By Vicki McClure Davidson on June 29, 2009
Republic John Boehner, House Minority Leader, took a bold step on Friday during the ramming through of the global warming tax increase bill. The 300-page amendment, not submitted until 3:09 am of the day of the vote, had not been reviewed by Americans nor anyone voting for the bill. Nor has anyone thoroughly read the original 1,200-page bill. Despite promises by President Obama that all new legislature would be made available for review by Americans for five days, the original bill was not posted on the Internet until late Monday of last week and voting started early Friday.
The huge amendment was not even posted for Americans to review prior to the House’s vote on Friday. It was slammed through without ANY quality review—most elected officials had not read it at all. How in the heck could it have had any type of quality review, if it was thrown in only a few hours before the House convened to start voting? I’ll bet Henry Waxman, co-author of the bill, hasn’t even read it.
Mr. Boehner, you’re a valiant champion for all Americans. You’re not willing to sit back and wring your hands while our country is royally railroaded by this bogus tax increase bill, headed by that rabid pitbull Nancy Pelosi, who all week bullied and cajoled and sold her soul countless times to elected officials to secure their votes for the energy tax bill. Mr. Boehner, you were inspirational and gave hope to those Americans who have known what a combined farce this bill and its amendment are.
While the battle was lost in the House, perhaps your boldness to let us know what Democrats sneaked in will make a difference before the Senate votes. One can only hope that more Americans engage themselves, look beyond the government-run evening news, and make an effort to analyze and educate themselves as to what has been happening to our country.
Pajama TV:
The House neared a roll call vote on a sweeping climate-change measure Friday – but not until House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) slowed passage by reading page-by-page through a 300-page Democratic amendment before allowing a roll call vote.It was a House version of a Senate filibuster – and a way to protest the addition of the 300-page managers’ amendment at 3 a.m. Friday.
Republicans say Democrats are ramming their climate-change legislation through the House without enough time for members to read the bill — let alone to understand it — all in violation of their promises about creating a more transparent legislative process.
Rep. Joe Barton (R-Tex.), running the debate for his party, asked repeatedly Friday afternoon if there was even a copy of the current version of the bill anywhere in the House chamber. Democratic Rep. Ellen Tauscher – sitting in the speaker’s chair although she’s already been confirmed as Obama’s undersecretary of State for Arms Control and International Security — repeatedly dodged the question.
Rep. Ed Markey (D-Mass.), one of the bill’s sponsors, finally rose to say that a single copy of the current version of the bill was available at the speaker’s desk and on the Internet, which members would have to leave the floor to access.
But that wasn’t enough for Boehner, whose move delayed the vote by an hour – on a day that had already seen hours of contentious debate.
Bob Gale at Big Hollywood put forth this message to those self-serving imbeciles in the House of Representatives who voted for this energy tax monstrosity:
And to all challengers to the 219 Congressional morons who voted to pass a bill which they never read, here’s your campaign speech:
My opponent voted for a Bill he/she never read. Only an idiot would do that. Would you walk into a voting booth with a blindfold on and just push some buttons? Or would you read and consider what you’re voting on before you vote? I promise I will not vote for anything I haven’t read in its entirety.
The Politico also noted, “As Friday’s debate dragged on, Republicans asked the House to observe a moment of silence for Americans who would lose their jobs as a result of the bill. Democrats objected.” Heh… but they DID give a moment of silence for Michael Jackson passing away, didn’t they?
Bleh.

Obama claimed that the average American would not bear the brunt of this historic tax-increase… claiming instead that “It is paid for by the polluters who currently emit dangerous carbon emissions.”
Just compare this outrageous falsehood to Ronald Reagans’ timeless wisdom:
“The most dangerous myth is the demagoguery that business can be made to pay a larger share, thus relieving the individual. Politicians preaching this are either deliberately dishonest, or economically illiterate, and either one should scare us.
…Only people pay taxes, and people pay as consumers every tax that is assessed against a business.”
And after the way they rammed this through the House with little debate, without legislators even reading it… and while quarantining the GOP from any meaningful input whatsoever, any foolhardy individuals who still believe Obama’s threadbare “bipartisanship” spiel ought to have their head examined.

Excellent, sage quote from Reagan… thanks for sharing it with us.
On Fox and Friends, Doocy asked Carol Browner if she had read THE BILL. She said the question was “UNFAIR”.
Impeach OBAMA for INCOMPETENCE
“Unfair”????
What a hoot… did Browner mean it was “unfair” as in “unfair of the House to unleash this reckless monstrosity of a tax on the American people and none of those voting for it had even read it?”
Not likely…
I watched Boehner on C-SPAN live.
I kept repeating YES ! loudly at the TV.
and when Waxman tried to stop him, and was put down I loved it.
I say John Boehner for speaker of the house, and we go from there.
This crap would never happen under him.
He is not my rep, but I wish he was.
2010…we vote again.
This time folks, it is CRUCIAL !!!
Boehner was truly magnificent. Even now, thinking about how he methodically zeroed in, item by item, by item, on poorly written text, ambiguous references, faulty science, “blank checks,” makes me want to stand up and cheer. Boehner truly was watching out for Americans.
I’m sure Waxman wanted to jump up and muzzle him — after all, that was HIS precious mega-taxation “baby” Boehner was critiquing and decrying.
Waxman is a greedy fool who’s in Pelosi’s and Obama’s hip pockets — let’s hope America wakes up after seeing this.
Boehner shows us clearly the ingot that will BREAK the camels back. crush it into a bloody pulp and destroy our country. There will be no green jobs, because there will be so few consumers. The reality is we are at a TIPPING POINT not on climate but on the economy and without those who will stand up to idiots like Waxman the catastrophy some can see will overwhelm us. Boehner has not suggested that HE is the leader of the republican party but his manner and his abilities suggest that it may be so. Every american should be required to watch his analysis of the amendment to the largest tax bill ever foisted upon the american public. I salute Mr Boehner as a patriot and an honest man. I hope he prevails in his fight against the enemies of our economy.
I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don’t know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.
