No More ‘Stimulus’ Packages: 60% of Americans Loudly Oppose Second Stimulus, Obama Now at -3 Approval

The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern.
Additionally, word is out that since the first multi-billion-dollar stimulus/porkulus bill has failed to do anything that the Democrat majority promised it would, a second one may be “necessary.” Americans are extremely opposed to a second stimulus/porkulus bill being launched, per the most recent Rasmussen report. Sixty percent of polled Americans have said “NO” to a second “non-stimulus” economic package, whereas 27 percent support a second stimulus. Thirteen percent were not sure.

Memory lane… in February, 2009, Pres. Obama signed the stimulus economic recovery bill, the largest money-dump in all of American history, far greater than if you took all monies spent by all presidents, from our first president, George Washington, through to our previous president, George W. Bush… COMBINED.
Leftists angrily remind us of the expensive TARP bill GW Bush signed, and feel that since Bush “spent money,” Obama should be able to, too. I agree that TARP was not the right plan for Bush to sign. But Bush’s expenditures were spread out over an 8-year period and included the funding of two wars; Obama has only been in office for just shy of six months. Bush’s expenditures are dwarfed by Obama’s outrageous spendthrift extravaganza. And, they HAVE NOT WORKED. Which is exactly what schooled economists said would happen.
Heck, even students in China laughed at Secretary of the Treasury Tim “Lying Tax Cheat” Geithner when he told them a month back that Chinese dollar assets are safe:
“Chinese assets are very safe,” Geithner said in response to a question after a speech at Peking University, where he studied Chinese as a student in the 1980s.
His answer drew loud laughter from his student audience, reflecting skepticism in China about the wisdom of a developing country accumulating a vast stockpile of foreign reserves instead of spending the money to raise living standards at home.
Obama promised that his stimulus bill would create millions of new jobs, keep unemployment down, and ensure our nation’s economic stability. Lofty politician talk, sounded hopeful… but, where are these jobs and why has unemployment continued to climb? And, much of the money that has been allocated has already been lost, wasted, or scammed away. Just yesterday, the vice president said that Obama didn’t “read the economy” correctly, that he goofed. We’re going to trust you dithering, inept fools with MORE of our money? How much of THAT will be lost, scammed, or wasted?

Republicans have been pounding Democrats over the lack of immediate, clear success of the stimulus, pointing at the slow pace of the money’s distribution and continuing unemployment figures.
Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) used that argument to urge a go-slow approach on health care reform in a Senate floor speech Tuesday, accusing Democrats of trying to repeat a “rush and spend” approach they used with the first stimulus.
“They said that if the stimulus passed, unemployment wouldn’t rise above eight percent. Unemployment is now approaching 10 percent. They said the stimulus was necessary to jump-start the economy. Yet now, with about a half million jobs lost every month, they’ve started to admit that they simply ‘misread’ the economy,” McConnell said.

But wise conservatives, like you, AFVET, and other readers of this and other excellent conservative blogs, have seen the writing on the wall with this joker for months. They’ve warned, cajoled, and sounded the alarms, despite liberals mocking them at every turn and the MSM singing Obama’s praises before he did a bloody thing. The discovery that “the Emperor has no clothes” took nearly six months to be acknowledged. Only now is the MSM cautiously criticizing him, although they are still throwing “softballs” in press conferences – except for Jake Tapper and Chip Reid, who are my new heroes in the phony world of American political journalism.
Sadly, this fall from grace for The One doesn’t make me feel any better. Not an “I told you so” moment. I just want my country off the path to socialism and back to what our founding fathers created for us. Obama has blown-up to gargantuan proportions of what HE thinks his role is, not what we the people and the Constitution see him as… a TEMPORARY steward of our nation’s freedoms and Commander in Chief of our military, as cited in the Constitution. He is not a god, nor a king… and I’m sick of the Obama worshippers attacking Palin’s every move but closing their eyes to his socialism, weakness, lies, and waffling.
Why is Charley Rangel still in congress ?
