Approval Rating Plunges to Negative 11 for POTUS: Obama’s Approval Drops to Double Digits for First Time

Obama's presidential approval index now in double digits, at negative 11: July 26, 2009
Major backfire… American voter approval of the president is dwindling like the glow and warmth of a campfire during a rainstorm.
Pres. Barack Obama’s approval numbers have hit a record low and are in double-digit territory for the first time. His presidential approval rating is now at negative 11. Contributing factors to his massive drop in approval are the president’s government-run health care plan (53% now oppose it) and his controversial involvement in the arrest of friend Prof. Henry Gates and his televised comment that Cambridge police “acted stupidly.”
From Rasmussen Reports, July 26, 2009:
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows that 29% of the nation’s voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty percent (40%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -11. That’s the first time his ratings have reached double digits in negative territory…
The President received generally poor grades for his response to a question about a Cambridge police incident involving a black Harvard professor. However, the results show a huge divide between black Americans and white Americans on all questions.
Overall, 49% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance. Fifty percent (50%) disapprove. It is important to remember that the Rasmussen Reports job approval ratings are based upon a sample of likely voters. Some other firms base their approval ratings on samples of all adults. President Obama’s numbers are always several points higher in a poll of adults rather than likely voters. That’s because some of the President’s most enthusiastic supporters, such as young adults, are less likely to turn out to vote.
The President is now seen as politically liberal by 76%. That’s up six points from a month ago, 11 points since he was elected, and the highest total to date. Forty-eight percent (48%) now see him as Very Liberal, up 20 points since he was elected.
From Rasmussen Reports, 26% Say Obama Response Good or Excellent on Cambridge Cop Question:
Thirty-two percent (32%) of black voters say that most policemen are racist, but 52% disagree.
Among white voters, just seven percent (7%) believe that most policemen are racist and 71% say they are not.
On a partisan basis, 50% of Democrats say the president’s response was good or excellent. White Democrats are less supportive than black Democrats. The president’s response earned a poor rating from 77% of Republicans and 52% of those not affiliated with either major party.
Liberals, by a two-to-one margin believe that most African-Americans are treated unfairly by the police. A solid plurality of unaffiliateds and a majority of Republicans disagree.
About the only area of common ground is that people of all parties, ideologies and races have been following the news story about Gates and the Cambridge policeman. Overall, 75% say they’re paying attention, including 51% who say they’re following it very closely.
The survey was conducted on Friday and Saturday, following significant efforts by the White House to move beyond this issue. The president called both the police officer and the professor with the suggestion that the three of them share a beer at the White House.
The president’s Wednesday night press conference where he was asked about the Gates incident was intended to help promote his health care reform plan. Opposition has been growing to his plan. On the eve of the press conference, 53% of voters were opposed to the proposal.
Following the press conference, the president’s job approval ratings fell to new lows.
From Hot Air:
…Besides the distraction of putting his foot in his mouth over the Gates arrest, Obama said nothing new or even particularly interesting on Wednesday night about health care. The only really new statement made by Obama was that he would approve tax hikes on the middle class as long as they didn’t primarily pay for the reform bill. Until July 22nd, only Robert Gibbs had hinted at middle-class tax hikes for health-care reform.
And the approval numbers keep dropping for Nancy “Liar of the House” Pelosi. She’s not worried, though… she thinks she’s invincible. Or maybe delusional. Or both.

Admin, MM has a great post on the czars, and the “slots” “available” (44 total above the 35 Michelle reported already existing). Allocations are still available, stopping where ?
My comment follows.
I guess there isn’t anything wrong with pirates and thieves nowadays.
The government has been full of them for years, but not to the extent of the present administration.
Too many czars, too much power, not enough “transparency”, and the audacity to tell the American People it’s NONE OF YOUR DAMN BUSINESS.
Barack Obama is up against the biggest challenge of his life.
He thought it would be easy, but now he’s up against congress and the nation, and he doesn’t like it.
Trying to make the IG’s report to the White House ?
Acorn conducting the census ?
In a third world nation he might survive.
In America,…we see who he is, and we will defeat him, and the congress who supports his policies.
