Just Hours from the Anticipated ‘Beer Summit’… Obama’s Approval Numbers Drop to -12

Public approval is worsening for the president. Per Rasmussen Reports, it is now at its very lowest point in all of Obama’s presidency, negative 12. Unusual for a new president in the first six months of his presidency to have such low approval among American voters. Maybe during a second term, but not this early.

Obama’s beer summit later today at the White House to mend the nationwide-followed “race riff,” that POTUS made much worse, between Prof. Henry Gates and Sgt. James Crowley (and with every googly-eyed liberal MSM reporter under the sun in attendance), perhaps it should include a beer KEG… for all of us?

Something to consider for your Blog.

At last count Obama has 37 czars.

My question is, at what point does congress become ineffective as our representatives ?
The czars answer to the president and no-one else to my knowledge.
Obama is building an executive branch that can possibly govern this country from the oval office !

    I think enough is enough.
Even though his polls are tanking, I don’t think he cares.
His arrogance, and his army of czars will propel America where he wants Her to be.

Even if WE THE PEOPLE vote every congress critter out in 2010, he still has the power to “change” this country.

Vicki,…well done and keep up the Fantastic Blog !!!

      “We the people.”

People keep using that phrase but certainly don’t mean it, I wonder if they even know what it means. Anymore they should be saying, ” I the person.”
      I, have rights….meaning, you don’t.
This is my country, always has been. I am sick and tired of watching my country become a country of whinners and bully’s.

With all of our problems the media and WE THE PEOPLE, are busy using their energy to tear apart every word that comes out of the presidents mouth. OMG did you hear what he said? He should have said this or that or not said anything. We will never see the end of racism, which should have ended many years ago, as long as the media keeps feeding the public with nonsense. I am watching good people lose their homes, their jobs and everything they have worked so hard for. I am watching good people try to fight cancer and other diseases without the money to do it. I am watching good people being torn apart because our country is failing so horribly. And what do I see on every front page on the internet and news channels? By God, our president said that the police act of handcuffing a middle aged man using a cane was “stupid.” I would expect this kind of attitude from school age children, NOT adults. The problem is this, too many of the adults grew older but certainly did not mature.

We are fighting with a third of the planet. If we don’t stop this behavior and see the issues that are really important our country don’t stand a chance. We have got to pull together. That means people of all races and all colors. We have got to come together as a country of people, we have go to become, ” WE THE PEOPLE.’ Not, ” I THE PERSON.”
Too many people voted for president Obama for other reasons. Now they want him to fail and will do everything they can to make it happen. Too bad they don’t use that energy to help and heal this country instead. People are suffering and I mean really suffering while others are just interested in pettiness and hate. When this country falls don’t look around for someone to blame just go to the nearest mirror.
Either you are part of the solution or part of the problem.
Again, only by pulling together will we save this country and her people, not by dividing and arguing.

        Linda,

With all due respect, I agree with bits of what you’ve said, but not with the bulk of it.

Blame most of this US economic collapse and turmoil on government interference. Free markets are cyclic, and through many factors, none of which are contrived by the government, will correct the problem through natural attrition. If a company is doing poorly, let them go bankrupt. Do not artificially keep them going, because in most cases, the problems that brought them to the brink of disaster have not been corrected. You’re just prolonging the problem by buying some time with taxpayer money. It’s like bailing out your teenager every time they overspend their allowance. If you say “no” and force them to re-evaluate their spending habits, they will learn to do with less, to trim out non-essentials. The government should NOT have bailed out corporations, but should have let the free market run its natural course.

Of course, the housing debacle caused most of this, primarily because of people who had no business getting expensive homes (income too low, credit too shaky) were given the loans anyway as mandated by the CRA. These people had lower mortgage rates (ARM) for 5 to 10 years, and then the REAL monthly payment hit. They were unable to pay it, thousands of folks, and this resulted in them defaulting. The lending institutions were hit hard by this avalanche of non-payments. This, in turn, had a tsunami effect all through the country in all industries. If the government had not launched the second TARP nor the porkulus/stimulus plan nor corporation bailouts, and then taken over lending institutions and auto manufacturers, much of the problems we have now would have been averted. If the free market had been allowed to correct itself naturally, we would be out of this mess by now.

Additionally, many employers today are not confident enough to hire people or invest in new equipment, as they are waiting to see what new garbage in the way of taxation and financial penalties will be levied against them. They don’t trust the government nor have a sense of stability. If Washington would turn it down about 100 notches, gave some tax incentives and tax cuts, stopped agitating our lives, then BOOM. Things would suddenly start revving back up. Obama’s efforts are very similar to what Carter and Clinton tried, and the results have never been positive. Unemployment rocketed, businesses that had been doing OK went belly-up, and we were in economic free-fall.

Government handouts, using taxpayer dollars, DO NOT WORK in the long run. They are effective for emergency, short-term assistance only.

Socialism does NOT work, and destroys capitalism and free markets and human incentive.

“We the people” is the mantra for our nation, per our founding fathers, as opposed to “We the ruling class” or “We the government” or “We the monarchy.” It embraces the belief that citizens, as individuals, had inherent rights from God, and that government or the monarchy cannot give or take away those rights. They are inherent. As such, “we the people” matter more than “we, the elitist few who are in the government power seat.” It is NOT a term meant for a collective like a hive or the Borg, as you’re trying to suggest. We are united as citizens, but not as faceless drones. “We the people” were three powerful words for a new nation to use to galvanize the colonists to rebel (through dangerous times, and spilling of their blood) and separate from England. They fought for liberty. Many, many DIED for that liberty. Not exactly “let’s be pleasant and not criticize our leader” actions. If they had been afraid of ticking off the king, we’d still be under England’s thumb.

To analyze and critique what our president says is part of being a patriot and a defender of the Constitution. Or, does “freedom of speech” when it applies to political critique make you uncomfortable?

I’m not trying to be disrespectful, but you seem to go round and round on what is bothering you and what is wrong, in your opinion. I’m not wholly sure what you propose we do to put things back on the right track as you see it. Yes, there is misery in this world. But that is not the fault of Americans criticizing our president. It is far more complex and ingrained than that.

My recommendation: analyze the government acts against the people of countries such as Venezuela, Cuba, Uganda, Honduras, and other dictator-run nations and come up with a plan to dismantle the blood-lust for power these tyrants have. They murder their own people, and keep many in abject poverty. Foreign aid and supplies rarely make it to the people for whom it was intended – unscrupulous people, some in the very government that is suppose to be working for the people, take it to keep or sell on the black market, lining their own pockets. Government officials in many countries are power-grabbing thieves and killers who don’t care a whit about the people.

Or look at Afghanistan, where women are stoned to death by men if they are raped, school girls are murdered if they try to go to school. The rights of women in many Arabic countries are a fraction of what they are here – some don’t permit women to have land ownership, many outlaw women from voting or learning to drive a car, many don’t permit women to speak to any man who is not a blood relative nor leave the house unless they are escorted by a male relative. Makes you stop and realize that women are not treated so horribly like that here. Also, in many Muslim countries, homosexuals are imprisoned or killed without legal recourse.

America is NOT perfect, I agree, but it is not the problem-maker of the world many liberals think; it is easier for people to blame America than to blame the men who rule these countries with a heavy fist, who deny the people basic rights. Who are thugs and monsters by denying their people the rights we have in America – life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Blame socialism, blame totalitarianism, blame communism for the REAL miseries of the world, the real loss of individual freedoms and pursuits of happiness. Criticizing Obama does not change those people’s lives one iota. Criticizing our Senators does not impact villagers in Africa who are dying of malaria or malnutrition. Some people blame America for not giving more and more and more to correct these atrocities – I want to know what in the heck the rulers of these nations are doing to empower their people? To motivate and educate them to follow their dreams, to work and be rewarded by the fruits of their own labor?

Blame them, not America. Our nation is not the damn whipping boy of the world, and I’m tired of people ignorantly and blithely slamming our wonderful country for being as prosperous as it is. What a crock… our prosperity has been a result of NOT BEING SOCIALIST. For embracing and encouraging the individual to be the best he or she can be, and to see that there are rewards, not “distribution of wealth,” for working hard. We reward athletes and entertainers for being the best (Super Bowl, World Series, Oscars, Emmys, etc.), but for many liberals, being the best in a given conservative business or industry or technology and being rewarded financially for that is “wrong.” Total nonsense and hypocrisy.

Our county’s citizens are the most generous in the world, giving billions of their hard-earned dollars to those in need. Choosing to give, not being mandated to give by the government. When you’re forced to give, it is no longer charity but taxation.

Stifling dissension of the citizens, particularly to halt the dismantling of our liberties and our Constitution, and handing over the reins of our lives to the government is NOT the answer. “Pulling together” as you put it makes little sense in this context. We ARE pulling together by protesting what is happening to America. Tea parties are growing in number and attendance throughout the country (have you attended one?) to voice our dissension with taxation, welfare entitlements, and other liberty-stealers. These are attended by all walks of life, all races, all religions – they are not partisan, but are based on supporting and demanding fiscal accountability and adherence to the provisions of our Constitution that are being stripped away by the government.

Being a quiet sheep, allowing this greedy, statist, power-grabbing administration to dismantle each right one by one and railroading us into letting it be in charge of every aspect of our lives, is how Cuba was taken over by Castro decades ago. Socialism is misery for the masses, and will be the death of the last shining jewel in this world.

      • AFVET says:

Linda, the “WE THE PEOPLE” quotation was taken from the CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES.
Read it and see what you think.

    • admin says:

AFVET, you bring up excellent points that also trouble me. I don’t know congressional law or constitutional law very well, so I don’t know if there is an established limit to how many “czars” Obama can appoint. The word “czar” has always bothered me, as it is steeped in Russia’s totalitarian, Communist history. I totally agree with you… enough is enough. Obama has had it pointed out to him that his number of czars is excessive (and from what I’ve read, they ridiculously overlap one another), but like you said, he doesn’t care. Let us hope that there are a few wise members of Congress who know more on this than we do and they will make the necessary efforts to stop it.

As always, thank you for your input, dear friend.

      • AFVET says:

Nixon had czars, Reagan had czars, but not 37 CZARS !!!
        Obama has 37 and counting.

All his czars are making at least 6 digits on your dime.

And you can’t stop it until 2010…do it!

  3. Dave B says:

I’m not sure what to address. The President of the USA is obviously an apologist and hardly a supporter of the greatness of what we accomplished. Are the citizens supposed to ignore that? It says a lot to most of us. He is everyone’s President but would someone please tell HIM that! He’s coming off and appearing as if he would be perfectly happy if our country took a big screwing, faultered to the point of kneeling to the wishes of other countries, and let’s face it, he’s a friggin elitist who leans towards a socialistic view towards everything… spread the misery, don’t spread the wealth. It’s quite obvious he’s anti-Jew or at least anti-Israel, anti-England or at least cold as ice when it comes to dealing with our long time allies. I don’t trust him and there’s a lot of similar minded people out there. He’s an elitist that will more than likely be defeated in 2012 because he apparently doesn’t understand the real spirit of this country.

    • admin says:

Dave, I concur. Obama’s apologist mode of operation is not indicative of a true leader, and can undermine our position in the world. You don’t attack that which you fear… his apologies for America, yet none for himself and his actions concerning the Cambridge police, are narcissistic and troubling, like a young child blaming everyone else for breaking the window with a baseball. Other leaders are keeping an eye on him, and see his inability to embrace his own country for its greatness as a kind of Achilles’ heel. It is a matter of great concern. He believes apologizing for America will somehow endear him to world leaders. No. They only respect “manliness” and power… neither of which he has really demonstrated.
