Liar, Liar, Pelosi’s Pants Are on Fire: More Americans Opposed to and Fear Government-Run ObamaCare Than Fear Health Insurance Companies

Government health care would be wrong even if it “controlled costs.” It’s a liberty issue. I’d rather be free to choose, even if I make the wrong choices. — Mark Steyn

An excerpt from the recent essay Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer wrote for USA Today, ‘Un-American’ attacks can’t derail health care debate :

Now — with Americans strongly supporting health insurance reform, with Congress reaching consensus on a plan, and with a president who ran and won on this specific promise of change — America is closer than ever to this century-deferred goal.

NOPE, NO WAY: A majority of Americans have been polled numerous times on socialized health care. The numbers are growing against it. There is no reputable poll indicating that a majority of Americans support health care reform or health insurance reform. A new poll released today by Rasmussen Reports shows that a majority (51%) of Americans fear government on health care than they do insurance companies. The exorbitant cost, numerous pitfalls, and lack of knowledge as to what is precisely in the socialized health care bill has made more Americans by the week distrust it more than ever. To claim that a majority of Americans want this health bill is a pile of horse poop and a big, fat lie.

From Rasmussen Reports: On Health Care, 51% Fear Government More Than Insurance Companies

When it comes to health care decisions, 51% of the nation’s voters fear the federal government more than private insurance companies. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 41% hold the opposite view and fear the insurance companies more. Seven percent (7%) are not sure who they fear the most.

Among those who have insurance, 53% fear the government more than insurance companies while 39% take the opposite view. Those without insurance fear the insurance companies more.

Adults under 30 fear the insurance companies more while those in their 40s are evenly divided. However, a solid majority of those over 40 fear the government more.

There are hundreds of USA Today readers’ comments in response to the Pelosi/Hoyer article (as of right this minute, there are THOUSANDS… 2,748 comments and rising). Here are but a few of those comments; I did not “cherry-pick” to drive home a point, but took a quick handful of the first few on the site that were relatively short. Since USA Today is non-partisan, with leanings to the left, I think these represent an unscientific, but fairly accurate snapshot, of Americans’ feelings about ObamaCare, the Democrat Party, and Nancy Pelosi:

From sane_voter:

Rep. Pelosi has been accusing those of us who are against this proposed massive increase of government-run health care of being pawns of the insurance industry, being puppets of the RNC, and implied we are Nazis. Nothing could be further from the truth. We are regular folks who makeup their own signs and are there to be heard. It is also hypocritical for Rep. Pelosi to accuse us of stifling debate when, if she originally had her way, the health care bill would have already been passed before the August recess with NO debate. Shame on you Pelosi!

From polonius47:

“Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American”

As any conservative who has ever tried to give a speech on an American university campus could attest.

From monicanc:

Have they LOOKED at the polls?? Plurality is AGAINST health care reform, or whatever they are calling it for the day. Pelosi is LEAST popular, least respected member of Congress EVER. Anyone who believes LIES such as “better coverage for less cost” is an idiot- her perfect voter- but I repeat myself.

From butterflylady47:

“It will allow every American who likes his or her current plan to keep it. ” Not so according to the house bill on pg 16. Looks like Pelosi and Hoyer are again clueless because they don’t know what is in their own bill. Guess they did not read it!

People attending these town hall meetings are not there because of organizers, but rather after months of Obama’s radical beliefs impinging on our freedoms, we are tired of his and Congress’s tyranny. Since health care is such a personal matter, this becomes the ultimate issue for Americans to express their dissatisfaction with Obama and Congress. It is a real tragedy to see the Speaker of the House and Obama attacking US citizens and free speech. Just as sad is the media is focusing on only one side of the issue and distorting it, because many of the so called organizers have come from the left – the unions!

Yes, there needs to be health care reform. But those Americans who are happy with their health insurance and health care, should be respected, and left alone. Address the specific problems such as access and portability. But if this does not happen and Americans are not respected for their opposing philosophy and believing in the Constitution, these frustrations expressed in the grass roots town hall meetings are only the beginning.

From trish333:

Does anybody know who Pelosi’s opponent will be in the next election? I don’t live in California anymore but I would sure like to contribute to the challenger’s campaign.

From Weather_Dude:

It’s the typical big government response from people who have always championed big government. What’s the surprise that they are now frustrated because they have the political majority they longed for but have found many people resistant to growing the size of government any larger. There is nothing incorrect or un-factual about the statement that many Americans do not want government health care. That’s a fact Hoyer and Pelosi. You are acting un-American with your denouncing the opposition as pawns of their own stupidity. The assertion that government can improve the availability of health insurance while delivering cost savings and increased choice are laughable. This is a play for power over people and power over their money. I am amongst many millions who are mad as hell at this blatant threat to take away choice, increase government revenues through higher taxes and increase control over the American people through forced dependence upon government. Big government does not work and is an abomination to the principles of freedom.

From SnakeIz:

Anyone else notice they are now calling it “health insurance reform” rather than “health care reform”? They know the people are against this plan and need a villian to try and sell it. Typical Democratic Party playbook.

Ask your member of Congress… why won’t they put themselves in the same system they will require you to be apart of?

From TitusPullo:

This whole “the protests are astroturf” is a load of bull, on its face. Think about this, if the Republicans/Conservatives/libertarians in this country were well organized enough to pull something like this off would they have lost the last two elections? I think not. This is clearly organic.

From BlackBubbba:

Americans already have the right to health care you fools!

People like you will be taking it away!

From Billy Beck:

…You are either damned idiots or bloody liars, and this country can abide *neither*. Do you understand?

Mark my words well: You are playing with very serious fire. …We are not going to live under your boots.

Forget it.

And there are hundreds and hundreds more just like these. Although I’m sure there were entries defending ObamaCare, I lost interest before finding a single one.

So, Nancy and Steny, I’d say you’ve got a humongous problem on your hands with Americans dissenting and protesting ObamaCare in numbers that are growing larger. Ignoring what America wants or writing self-serving articles such as the one posted on USA Today is a recipe for utter disaster for the Democrat Party. It will serve to galvanize even more the true grassroots of our country’s citizens.

Then, goodness gracious… please, Madame Speaker of the House, keep doing it! Don’t stop ’til you drop…

Notice how it’s no longer HEALTH CARE REFORM? Now it’s HEALTH INSURANCE REFORM?

Once again they are attempting to find an entity that the American’s can accept to demonize.

CEOs, Banks, Wall Street, big automakers… now, it’s health insurance companies.

I’m no Einstein but even I can see what they are doing.

Have no fear Roxy, the tiger has been released, and it is angry.
These politicians cannot drain the intelligence, and the American drive for freedom and independence FROM GOVERNMENTAL INCURSIONS INTO OUR LIVES AGAINST OUR WILL.

The czars Obama has in place will eventually virtually eliminate the need for congress, supposedly the voice of the people.

He (Obama) is trying to set up a dictatorship in America. IMO.

      The tiger is out.

  2. Dave B says:

Do you think the Obama robots and his Administration will ever truly understand what this country is all about? He thought he could forcibly redistribute resources to the people who voted for him and take it away from those of us that actually work for a living without a fight? Does he actually think that he and his cronies can pull out the race card for everything? I think our President is in for a rude awakening because he has surrounded himself with similar thinking individuals for so long he doesn’t understand what is actually going on. Maybe he can stage a couple more events where supporters can tee up softball questions for him but until he understands how much most of us love our country and don’t despise it or get a glowing feeling when she gets a screwing, he will never do the things that will get him elected for a second term. It might be close because we have reached a tipping point where the takers almost outnumber the producers and who keep voting for the producers to keep working and supporting them while they do nothing… but leech off everyone else. He truly believes that we are as dumb and as gullible as those people.
