Mark Levin: More of “Us” Than There Are of “Them” – Gallup Proves Him Right, Conservatives the Majority in All 50 States

Several months ago, I was listening to Mark Levin’s talk radio show. It had been a particularly bleak week in the national news, with government/statist take-overs and Constitution dismantling imminent. America and her magnificent foundation, as created by our founding fathers, was gravely threatened.
I was grieving for my country’s pending demise and didn’t know what to do about it.
Levin said something so simple and profound. And extremely hopeful.
He said, “There are more of ‘us’ than there are of ‘them.’” He went on to say that Americans, no matter their political party affiliation, were inherently more conservative than they were liberal. He gave his listeners hope that the power-grabbing destruction that POTUS and his cronies were attempting to inflict on America would soon, very soon, be so overreaching that a sleeping giant would awaken. He emphasized that conservatives needed to talk to each other, be heard, not be complacent.
At the New York/New Jersey Freedom Concert this past week, Levin said to the audience, “You are what makes America work, not the other side.”
In many of his radio broadcasts, Levin has said to ignore the arrogant bleatings of the liberal mainstream media, and he’s right. They are loudly pounding the drum to convince and dishearten conservatives that their numbers are dying. Statism, socialism, Marxism, Communism… all are promoted as better than the “outdated” free market principles and small government ideals that made our nation the greatest in the world.
Liberal print journalists and the MSM have released only glowing, biased reports of Obama and his “new vision” for our country. Criticism, even the tiniest whiff of it, against the president was to be viciously mocked and annihilated, the proverbial anvil dropping on a fly.
Liberal Hollywood celebrities and filmmakers—the Michael Moores, Bill Mahers, Sean Penns, Keith Olbermanns, Janeane Garofalos, and Rosie O’Donnells of jaded Tinseltown—have zealously pounded that anti-conservative drum for years… painting conservatives as greedy, unfeeling, non-charitable, racist monsters.
Truth be told, though, there is ample evidence that conservatives as a group give more to charities, volunteer more of their time to causes, are more respectful and civil when faced with opposing philosophies and religions, and assist quickest when there are emergencies than do statists. Statists are much better at giving out welfare “freebies” to minorities and single mothers to make them dependent on the government, thus ensuring their support and their votes, as well as twisting facts or ignoring facts altogether. They demonstrate and execute intolerance with zeal and blood-lust.
Most conservatives in the entertainment industry have been silent for a long time, fearful that by revealing their true philosophies, they would be attacked and scorned by their peers.
But recently, actor Jon Voight has stepped forward. Angie Harmon has stepped forward. Chuck Norris, too. Gary Sinise has proclaimed his admiration for our troops. Bill Cosby openly criticized Obama’s foolish comments about racial profiling and actions of the Cambridge police in the Prof. Henry Gates case. Elisabeth Hasselbeck is mocked daily for her conservative stance and support of free market principles on The View. The numbers of people dissenting are growing, as seen (but ignored or slandered by the MSM) in local town hall protests and tea parties across the nation every week.
Conservative Americans don’t protest or rebel often, but when they do, watch out. I stopped my grieving and waiting for the destruction, to instead face it head on, defiant and proud. I became a vocal conservative.

I won’t let America be plunged into socialism without a fight. And I know you won’t, either. She is a precious gem, and we must always cherish and defend what she represents, embraces, and encourages… life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. With God’s guidance, we will prevail.
“There are more of us than there are of them”… Levin’s wise words have been proven correct, as is evident in the latest Gallup poll.

At the same time, more Americans nationwide are saying this year that they are conservative than have made that claim in any of the last four years.
In 2009, 40% percent of respondents in Gallup surveys that have interviewed more than 160,000 Americans have said that they are either “conservative” (31%) or “very conservative” (9%). That is the highest percentage in any year since 2004.
Only 21% have told Gallup they are liberal, including 16% who say they are “liberal” and 5% who say they are “very liberal.”
Thirty-five percent of Americans say they are moderate.
During Republican President George W. Bush’s second term, the number of self-identified conservatives as measured by Gallup dropped, riding at a low of 37% as recently as last year.
According to new data released by Gallup on Friday, conservatives outnumber liberals in all 50 states–including President Obama’s home state of Illinois–even though Democrats have a significant advantage over Republicans in party identification in 30 states.
“In fact, while all 50 states are, to some degree, more conservative than liberal (with the conservative advantage ranging from 1 to 34 points), Gallup’s 2009 party ID results indicate that Democrats have significant party ID advantages in 30 states and Republicans in only 4,” said an analysis of the survey results published by Gallup.
“Despite the Democratic Party’s political strength– seen in its majority representation in Congress and in state houses across the country–more Americans consider themselves conservative than liberal,” said Gallup’s analysis.
“While Gallup polling has found this to be true at the national level over many years, and spanning recent Republican as well as Democratic presidential administrations, the present analysis confirms that the pattern also largely holds at the state level,” said Gallup. “Conservatives outnumber liberals by statistically significant margins in 47 of the 50 states, with the two groups statistically tied in Hawaii, Vermont, and Massachusetts.”

Even in New York and New Jersey, conservatives outnumber liberals by 6 percentage points, according to Gallup. In those states, 32% say they are conservative and 26% say they are liberal. In Connecticut, conservatives outnumber liberals by 7 points, 31% to 24%.
Alabama is the state that comes closest to a conservative majority. In that state, according to Gallup, 49% say they are conservative and 15% say they are liberal.
In President Obama’s home state of Illinois, conservatives outnumber liberals, 35% to 23%…
Conservatives, the battle is still waging, but the statists are running scared. Let freedom ring!

I’ve grown extremely weary of the “us” and “them” mentality and I completely reject the notion that either “side” will bring about the demise of the country. The dramatics and histrionics are tiring — rhetorical tools of last resort when nothing more interesting or intelligent can be said.
Review your history on socialism, fascism, and Communism, Melanie. Tell me how many of the common people prospered and did well under those regimes. Then look at America. Problems, yes, perfection, no… but the best nation in the world for human rights, free market principles, and personal freedoms. We’re not perfect, but historically, we try to improve and we throw out politicians who try to put themselves into a deity or monarchy position.
If you believe that America is as oppressive as those countries under the thumb of Mao, Castro, Chavez, and their dictatorial ilk, you’re sadly uninformed and have no concept of what real tyranny is.

The MSM was attacking Bush for 8 years, you were NOT in any kind of minority — Hollywood mocked Bush, TV daytime talk shows mocked Bush, newspapers were not supportive of Bush, films mocked Bush. I cannot believe for one moment that any time you “criticized” the Bush administration that you were bashed or attacked. Present-day, however, it IS happening, and is happening by many of our elected officials. Speaker of the House Pelosi and other Democrat leaders are working hard to silence conservative radio, to malign conservatives who are protesting or don’t want socialized health care, and it appears that Team Obama is working to possibly take over all Internet content. Bush never did anything REMOTELY like that, and you know it. What is going on now in DC is not anything like Bush’s 2 terms, nor any other president’s in recent history. No one on late-night talk shows are making jokes about Obama, for fear of being labeled a racist. Obama has gotten a “free pass” for months, and with the many screw-ups he’s made, the media is mute, but all adoring. Bush never had that kind of support from the media… NEVER.
With all due respect, you’re delusional or naive, or both – Obama’s cronies and congressional Democrats are tearing down our Constitution as fast as they possibly can. And without Americans taking action and voicing opposition loudly, they WILL do it.
