Review your history on socialism, fascism, and Communism, Melanie. Tell me how many of the common people prospered and did well under those regimes. Then look at America. Problems, yes, perfection, no... but the best nation in the world for human rights, free market principles, and personal freedoms. We're not perfect, but historically, we try to improve and we throw out politicians who try to put themselves into a deity or monarchy position.

If you believe that America is as oppressive as those countries under the thumb of Mao, Castro, Chavez, and their dictatorial ilk, you're sadly uninformed and have no concept of what real tyranny is.

"...anytime I criticized the previous administration’s policies" -- you criticized Bush and were attacked??? What are you talking about? The MSM was attacking Bush for 8 years, you were NOT in any kind of minority -- Hollywood mocked Bush, TV daytime talk shows mocked Bush, newspapers were not supportive of Bush, films mocked Bush. I cannot believe for one moment that any time you "criticized" the Bush administration that you were bashed or attacked. Present-day, however, it IS happening, and is happening by many of our elected officials. Speaker of the House Pelosi and other Democrat leaders are working hard to silence conservative radio, to malign conservatives who are protesting or don't want socialized health care, and it appears that Team Obama is working to possibly take over all Internet content. Bush never did anything REMOTELY like that, and you know it. What is going on now in DC is not anything like Bush's 2 terms, nor any other president's in recent history. No one on late-night talk shows are making jokes about Obama, for fear of being labeled a racist. Obama has gotten a "free pass" for months, and with the many screw-ups he's made, the media is mute, but all adoring. Bush never had that kind of support from the media... NEVER.

With all due respect, you're delusional or naive, or both - Obama's cronies and congressional Democrats are tearing down our Constitution as fast as they possibly can. And without Americans taking action and voicing opposition loudly, they WILL do it.

"Criticism, even the tiniest whiff of it, against the president was to be viciously mocked and annihilated, the proverbial anvil dropping on a fly." This is actually exactly how I felt anytime I criticized the previous administration's policies. I've grown extremely weary of the "us" and "them" mentality and I completely reject the notion that either "side" will bring about the demise of the country. The dramatics and histrionics are tiring -- rhetorical tools of last resort when nothing more interesting or intelligent can be said.

Roxanna,

Wow, make me blush! You're very kind and I appreciate your words of support.

I don't have my own Facebook page yet (my 19-year-old daughter laughs at me and says I'm paranoid). If you'd like to post a few of my blog posts on your FB page, all that I ask is that you give the site and myself credit of authorship and a link back to the site. And then just let me know. :)

I'm still a little fish in the big conservative blogging scene (although the number of visitors is growing by the week), and I appreciate the exposure and knowing that I'm making a tiny difference in offering my thoughts and those of others on issues I deem very important to America and her citizens.

God bless, and let freedom ring!
