Undeterred by WH “Green Czar’s” Boycott Strong-Arming, Beck Hits Back on Van Jones’ Background & ‘Color of Change’

Gauntlet tossed, Glenn Beck is not being a humiliated, quiet conservative at the FOX network as the president’s “Green Czar” Van Jones may have thought he’d be with the boycott Jones instigated.
Instead, Beck is hitting back. Not by whining or moaning about the White House-influenced boycott of advertisers, no.
Instead, he’s digging into and questioning Jones’ shady, uncomfortable, law-breaking background, and asking how it is that someone who is a self-proclaimed Communist and black nationalist has such a key, non-vetted senior-level position in our nation’s capital. Plum role, to be sure. And who is also authorized to spend what appears to be untold amounts of taxpayers’ money to pursue whatever he wants, like boycotts of TV hosts… wonder how our government justifies that conflict of interests? Also, what in the heck does that have to do with Jones’ appointed “green czar” role? I thought that was all about mercury-filled light bulbs, polar bear population booms, and the global warming hoax that just royally embarrassed Greenpeace for manipulating Arctic ice-melting data (they say “exaggerate,” I say “manipulate”).
Suppose I’d want Van Jones to hit liberal shows’ advertisers hard, since I am offended by their hate speech against conservatives, the military, and Christians. Could my tax dollars be used to strong-arm sponsors of liberal nonsense like that expressed on The View and HardBall? Of course not. And not because I’m a conservative asking for liberal shows to be silenced.
It’s because of our nation’s first constitutional provision, freedom of speech. I should not be able to silence the liberal shrews on The View by using government money to pay the salaries of bullying people who are dogging advertisers to suspend their associations with shows that don’t share my same ideologies or philosophies… and neither should Van Jones or anyone in our government. Freedom of speech is for everyone, not just those who agree with me. Or with Barack Obama.
Dissension/disapproval of our president’s policies, agenda, or ideologies is legal and protected by our Constitution. In our free market, boycott is a viable action available to regular private-sector individuals to communicate their disapproval.
AVAILABLE TO INDIVIDUALS. Not intended for White House czars to use in a Chicago-thuggery, liberty-stealing, un-American fashion. Obama-appointed czars are, let us not forget, the paid servants of American taxpayers, even if they don’t have to answer to Congress and we didn’t get to vote for or against them.
They aren’t with the Gestapo.
They are representatives of the United States of America.

By Matea Gold | August 24, 2009Glenn Beck used his popular Fox News show this afternoon to attack the background of Van Jones, a White House environmental advisor who co-founded an African American political advocacy group that organized an advertising boycott of his program.
During his 2 p.m. PDT show, Beck did not address the boycott spearheaded by Color of Change to protest the talk show host’s remark last month that he believes President Obama is “a racist.”
Instead, he spent a large share of his program suggesting that Jones, who co-founded Color of Change in 2005, is a radical. Jones now serves as a special advisor for Green Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation at the White House Council on Environmental Quality.
During a six-minute biographical profile, set to ominous music, Beck said Jones was twice arrested for political protests and has described himself as a “rowdy black nationalist.” The talk show host cast the piece as part of a broader examination of Obama’s “czars,” special advisers to the president who “don’t answer to anybody.”
“Why is it that such a committed revolutionary has made it so high into the Obama administration as one of his chief advisers?” Beck asked.
Christine Glunz, a spokeswoman for the White House Council on Environmental Quality, noted that Jones has been lauded as an environmental hero and said his entire focus is on “building clean energy incentives which create 21st-century jobs.”
“Glenn Beck is trying to change the subject,” said James Rucker, executive director of Color of Change, who noted that Jones has not been active with the group in almost two years. “The issue is his baseless fear mongering.”
Beck has gone after Jones in the past. On July 28, he called the activist a “self-professed communist” and questioned the role he was playing in the administration. His latest assault on Jones came as Color of Change announced that it has secured commitments from 36 companies who have pledged not to advertise on Beck’s popular program, including Wal-Mart and Sprint. However, some of the companies never had a presence on “Glenn Beck.” Representatives of Procter & Gamble and AT&T – listed by Color of Change as companies that had signed onto the boycott – told The Times that their companies did not run spots on Beck’s program to begin with.
While the advertising boycott has generated substantial media coverage, Fox News said it has not impacted the network’s revenues or Beck’s audience. “The advertisers referenced have all moved their spots from Beck to other programs on the network so there has been no revenue lost,” a spokeswoman said.
Since his Fox News show launched in January, Beck has attracted a sizable audience with his strident denunciations of the Obama administration and apocalyptic warnings about the country’s direction. Late last month, during an appearance on the morning show “Fox & Friends,” he accused Obama of having “a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture.”
“This guy is, I believe, a racist,” he added.
The flap that ensued did not appear to dampen Beck’s viewership. This month, his show has averaged 2.25 million viewers, 99% more than tuned in during the same period last year, when the network aired “America’s Election HQ” during the time period. And his ratings are up from July, when Beck’s program averaged 2.05 million viewers. Fan websites such as Defend Glenn have called for viewers to fight back against the advertising boycott, and some media veterans have denounced the tactic as a suppression of free speech.
The controversy has triggered a broader discussion about the risks to advertisers of running commercials amid the incendiary rhetoric of cable talk shows. Clorox announced last week that it was pulling its ads off all political talk shows.
“We do not want to be associated with inflammatory speech used by either liberal or conservative talk show host,” the company said in a statement. “After a comprehensive review of political talks shows across the spectrum, at this time we have made a decision not to advertise on them. Clorox has done very little advertising on political talk shows overall, and given the sometimes inflammatory nature of these shows, we feel our advertising investment is best directed elsewhere.”

I’ve had enough of these czars and people Obama and company associate with, who have his ear, who lecture him and have lectured him for twenty years, who he’s MARRIED to… the one that says America’s soul is broken! Not broke enough for you to get a cushy job for five times the amount of money everyone else makes as soon as your husband eliminated the competition and got a political position though. Not broke enough for you to fly around in jets, eat foods prepared by private chefs, have the best of clothes, mansions and more. Shut Up! Quit projecting your shortcomings on the rest of America. Go hang around with all your czars that got rich off poor smuck taxpayers that beg and scratch for everything they get, people who want to kill police officers, blow up soldiers, scrap our freedom of speech, and you can have a symposium on how white people are bad and evil, how police and soldiers are bad and evil, how old people of a certain color should just accept that you’re going to take away everything they worked for, saw relatives die for, how black people have it so bad because they don’t get everything they want and white people do. Yeah, it’s real easy for white people! You ought to try being a white heterosexual Christian taxpaying, hard working male in this country. We’re the last group that the government sanctions, by omission, that it’s perfectly fine to discriminate against and we are somehow less than everyone else. Go live in the 60′s when life was good for people like you because you could blame all the ills of the world on white people and the producers and hustlers of the world, go to church and openly call them racist names, be open about your hate for Jewish people, demean black patriots and regular people and call them “uncle Toms”, and you could dream up ways to screw this nation, hurt its people, and turn it into a banana Republic where only a certain “in” crowd and elite will enjoy the luxuries we all have access to right now, instead of realizing that although not perfect, we are the greatest nation that ever blessed this earth! By the way, could you tell us all what single country has not committed the sins we’ve committed in the past, or even commit now? Screw You and all your czars that think you’re pulling a fast one on the rest of us (normal thinking black people who work hard every day, are demeaned by YOU, and don’t expect someone to take care of them 24/7 while they take no responsibility are included). You’re the cancer that’s been around since the 70′s, you finally bamboozled voters into putting you in a position of power, have all the connections, and money and you’re making your move. It won’t work. Too many of us out there that love this country and won’t idly stand by while you destroy it. Do you actually believe that most Americans don’t see how you gamed the system and played to the people’s good hearts to get where you are? Do you think that we don’t smell something rotten? You made the mistake of underestimating and miscalculating the true nature of a majority of citizens of this nation, the one’s that farm, milk cows, patrol our streets, fight overseas, tend to the sick, open up businesses, and so on. You did so because you surround yourself with people that only know “political capital”, deception, victim psychology, racist beliefs, or jwho are ust plain dirty bastards that willingly whore themselves out for whatever cause that makes them richer and more powerful. Try hanging around with people that have actually had to work for a living, who actually ran a business without government handouts, take responsibility for themselves and their family, and at least at one point in their lives… did something productive instead of taking things from others and blaming everyone else. America’s soul is broke? Your hypocracy knows no limits!
Sarah Palin is the brightest light in this country right now. She’s one of the few politicians, past and present, that we trust completely. Her courage is real, she’s a doer and not a talker, she’s more intelligent that the two bozo’s that occupy the executive branch right now because she hasn’t been dumbed down by lemmings, hasn’t been compromised by any groups of people that have a special agenda to gain power at the expense of others. She’s honest, she knows what its like to actually work hard to make a days pay, and she lives her life by her beliefs and convictions. The funny thing, to me, was that all these pundits, beltway intellectuals, political gamers, inside politicians and so on couldn’t understand that she stepped down as governor BECAUSE IT WAS THE HONORABLE AND RIGHT THING TO DO FOR THE PEOPLE OF HER STATE! Do these guys have a clue that that’s EXACTLY why we trust her completely? Here’s a news flash: she was protecting her children, her family, and the citizens that she swore to protect! Soldiers, cops, medical professionals, and many others knew exactly why she did it, why she did it when she did, and what she was going to try to accomplish afterwards. Washington was baffled? Now you see why she is the brightest light.
