Freedom of speech is under siege... by the Obama administration

Sarah Palin, Mark Levin, Sean Hannity, and many others have encouraged their fans and listeners to watch this anticipated interview (aired August 26, 2009). For those without cable TV or didn’t know to watch The Glenn Beck Show, the video of the show is provided below in its entirety, broken into five parts.

UPDATE, AUGUST 28, 2009: The airing of this show had impressive viewership numbers (for comparison sake, liberal news show Hardball with Chris Matthews had only 536,000 viewers during the same time slot):

Though a little scandal might alienate advertisers, it’s pure ratings gold. Last night Glenn Beck had over 3 million viewers at 5 pm, second only to O’Reilly for the night. But, Beck had more 25-54 viewers than O’Reilly (888K to 876K). I don’t watch or really even care about the cable news wars, but still…wow. Even though Beck airs before primetime, when there are fewer people watching TV, he had the most 25-54 viewers in the cable news world for the night.

In the interview, two highly respected conservative talk show hosts, Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck (clarification: respected in conservative circles, that is), hone in and spotlight Team Obama’s direct and indirect threats to free speech. They explain how the statist-slanted Fairness Doctrine that Pres. Ronald Reagan abolished might be re-instituted, or a stealthier form of it, such as with the deceptive “media diversity” mandates happening now. How liberty and freedom, as protected by our Constitution, will be craftily snatched away.

This information is important for all Americans, no matter your party affiliation. Because freedom of speech is a right that our founding fathers deemed so VERY important, they positioned it in the Number 1 spot on the Constitution. Freedom of speech is not just a tidy little package of entitlement for Democrats, Republicans, Independents, you name it… it is for all in our country. Voices rising up in opposition against ObamaCare, against cap and trade, against the socialist agenda of this administration, are being ignored and/or demonized and silenced. Free speech is suddenly in jeopardy, just as it was ripped away from the citizens in Cuba, in Venezuela, and in other tyrannical countries. If our government can control speech, peaceful assembly will also be in jeopardy. Religious programming (i.e., Christian more than likely) will be in serious jeopardy. It’s a Pandora’s box… and if Republicans take over the Senate as predicted, it could spell the doom of liberal speech. Uh, oh! No more Keith Olbermann???

As thrilled as millions of conservatives would be with the removal of MSNBC’s darling liberal ranter, Olbermann is permitted to compete in the free market of supply and demand and speak to those folks who share his warped, liberal views on his TV show. Olbermann has the right in this country to legally offend all thinking people, to be a public jackass. If most people tune out and ignore his show, sponsors will withdraw their money, and Olbermann will eventually be unemployed. Which would be GOOD. But in a government-run media world, Olbermann would be permitted to speak to his 17-odd fans, being paid his handsome salary for a failing show with taxpayer dollars, and conservative hosts with millions of devoted viewers/listeners on TV and radio would be kicked to the curb. You don’t agree with the president? Buh-bye, suckers… From there, more escalation, with new laws slowly being put into place to make all dissension of government leaders unlawful. Soft tyranny evolves into hard tyranny. Welcome to the nightmare of the USSA.

More soft tyranny, my friends, more soft tyranny that quietly takes over before many of us realize it.

Our government cannot be in charge of what is “right” and “wrong” speech, although it has been trying for years to more closely control and micro-manage it. It goes beyond opposing political or religious views or “hate speech”… some politicians are actually trying to make “hate thoughts” or “hateful intentions” a crime.

Americans can’t sit back idly and hope this will go away. We must exercise our right to speak out (before we discover we can no longer do that without serious repercussions), to contact our elected officials who represent us in DC.

This interview is important for you to watch… take notes, if necessary. We cannot let the media/radio airwaves be controlled by Pres. Obama, silencing conservative or “non-complimentary-to-Obama” opinions. George Orwell’s 1984 is rearing itself on its hairy beastie legs right now… Big Brother is not only watching, but LISTENING. And striving to pull the plug from the microphone.
