From Jammie Wearing Fool: Gen. Honore to Run For Senate in Louisiana?:

Can you imagine this man on the Senate floor berating the Democrats for being Stuck on Stupid? Who cares that he might oust an incumbent Republican? David Vitter has plenty of baggage, plus we can see how much the left really has transcended race when they begin attacking a black man for having the audacity to be a Republican.

A few videos of Lt. Gen. Honoré:

During a 2007 press conference in Louisiana, a member of the news media tried to pull a fast one on LTG Honoré, who had just the right answer for him.

More commentary on his potential run for Senate…

From Bayou Buzz: General Russell Honore To Run Vs David Vitter In Louisiana US Race?:

In a breaking story, The Louisiana Weekly and Bayoubuzz.com have learned that the hero of Hurricane recovery, General Russell Honore is seriously considering entering the Republican Primary for the U.S. Senate seat against incumbent David Vitter. Honore, a Republican since the Reagan Administration and a registered Louisiana voter from his Zachary home, has spoken to friends and supporters in the last two weeks signaling that he is, according to one, “more than 50% sure that he will run.”

[...]

While polls show Vitter as the clear favorite in both the primary and the general election, one very senior Louisiana Republican predicted that if Honore runs, “He wins.” As that GOP party elder further explained to the www.louisianaweekly.com and Bayoubuzz on the promise of confidentiality, “All he has to say is ‘Stuck on Stupid’, and Vitter is toast.”

Military voters, who constitute a plurality of the Republican electorate, will flock to Honore, and the party leader in question also believes that the General’s race will matter to primary voters less than his social stands. Honore admitted through aides to the Weekly that he is “pro-life and pro-family”.

From TPMDC: Report: Vitter Could Face GOP Primary Challenge From General Honoré:

The 2010 Louisiana Senate race, in which scandal-plagued incumbent Republican David Vitter is running for re-election, just keeps getting more interesting…

Honoré is of an African-American Creole background, and could provide the Republicans with a high-profile spokesman of a minority background. (Yes, the party does have Michael Steele and Bobby Jindal, but those two haven’t worked out so well.)

Democrats have united around Blue Dog Congressman Charlie Melancon. If Honoré does run, the challenge for the GOP establishment will be in deciding what manner they’ll back the incumbent — or whether they might subtly cut him loose.

From HolyCoast.com: General “Don’t Get Stuck on Stupid” Honore May Challenge Vitter:

The article seems to think that Vitter will still win the primary, but I’m not so sure. Honore made quite a name for himself in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, is African-American in a state with a large black population, and doesn’t have Vitter’s hooker problem (at least that we know of so far)…

The LT General should try, although he may be repulsed by the corruption that is on-going in congress.
