Green jobs czar Van Jones resigns as result of controversy
A FOX News panel had predicted Friday that “green jobs czar” Van Jones would quit or be fired by Monday for his repugnant statement against Republicans and his involvement in the 9-11 Truther movement. Their prediction came true a day early. Still waiting for the other networks to even acknowledge the controversy.

Obama ‘green jobs’ adviser quits amid controversy
WASHINGTON (AP) – President Barack Obama’s adviser Van Jones has resigned amid controversy over past inflammatory statements, the White House said early Sunday.
Jones, an administration official specializing in environmentally friendly “green jobs” with the White House Council on Environmental Quality was linked to efforts suggesting a government role in the 2001 terror attacks and to derogatory comments about Republicans.
The resignation comes as Obama is working to regain his footing in the contentious health care debate.
Jones issued an apology on Thursday for his past statements. When asked the next day whether Obama still had confidence in him, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said only that Jones “continues to work in the administration.”
“Continues to work in the administration”… that’s the kiss of death from Obama.
Jones still denies being part of the controversial 9-11 Truther organization, despite evidence to the contrary:
The matter surfaced after news reports of a derogatory comment Jones made in the past about Republicans, and separately, of Jones’ name appearing on a petition connected to the events surrounding the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks. That 2004 petition had asked for congressional hearings and other investigations into whether high-level government officials had allowed the attacks to occur.
“On the eve of historic fights for health care and clean energy, opponents of reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me,” Jones said in his resignation statement. “They are using lies and distortions to distract and divide.”
Jones said he has been “inundated with calls from across the political spectrum urging me to stay and fight.”
Lies and distortions… like Jones’ name on a 9-11 Truther document.
Being fired or being asked to resign for public derogatory statements isn’t new and can go either way. Don Imus was fired, despite his apology, for his stupid quip about a black female basketball team. David Letterman, on the other hand, is still employed after his vile jokes about Sarah Palin’s daughter. Jones claims others wanted him to stay and fight, but my guess is, the longer he stayed, more damning evidence of other lies he’s told and unsavory things in his radical activist past would be uncovered. Good decision to quit before it got worse, Van.

But he said he cannot in good conscience ask his colleagues to spend time and energy defending or explaining his past.
Jones flatly said in an earlier statement that he did not agree with the petition’s stand on the 9/11 attacks and that “it certainly does not reflect my views, now or ever.”
As for his other comments he made before joining Obama’s team, Jones said, “If I have offended anyone with statements I made in the past, I apologize.”
Despite his apologies, Republicans demanded Jones quit.
Rep. Mike Pence of Indiana said in a statement, “His extremist views and coarse rhetoric have no place in this administration or the public debate.” Missouri Sen. Christopher Bonds said Congress should investigate Jones’s fitness for the job.
Fox News Channel host Glenn Beck repeatedly denounced Jones after a group the adviser co-founded, ColorofChange.org, led an advertising boycott against Beck’s show to protest his claim that Obama is a racist.
James Rucker, the organization’s executive director, has said Jones had nothing to do with ColorofChange.org now and didn’t even know about the campaign before it started.
Wrong. That’s not how others see it. James Rucker obviously hasn’t read Van Jones’ bio on the Ella Barker Center site, where the exact opposite is stated… explain this, Mr. Rucker and Mr. Jones:
In 1996, Van Jones co-founded the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights.
In the wake of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Van co-founded Color Of Change with James Rucker. Color of Change has become the nation’s biggest online advocacy organization that focuses on African-American issues.
Next in the AP story is a puzzling affirmation of Jones’ accomplishments by chair Nancy Sutley. She sings his praises for creating new green jobs, but Jones confessed during a Newsweek magazine interview that he didn’t know what a green job was and despite a $60 billion budget from the stimulus/porkulus bill, no green jobs have been created, as was exposed by NewsBusters in two recent articles, here and here. Nancy Sutley, chair of the council, said in a statement released early Sunday that she accepts Jones resignation and thanked him for his service.
“Over the last six months, he had been a strong voice for creating jobs that improve energy efficiency and utilize renewable resources,” she said. “We appreciate his hard work and wish him the best moving forward.”
Maybe Sutley didn’t want to kick Jones further while he was down, but it appears major whitewashing is still going on. And someone please explain to me how Jones spearheading vicious boycotts against conservative talk show host Glenn Beck and against Whole Foods and CEO John Mackey has ANYTHING to do with creating those elusive green jobs, of which $60 billion of our taxpayer money has been earmarked.

By the by, the Leftist group The Apollo Alliance claimed credit for helping to write the stimulus bill, which steered $60 billion towards developing “green jobs.” Which coincidentally is their mission…
Per the Apollo Alliance website, Van Jones was a long-time member on the board of the Apollo Alliance Group.

This guy had to resign. Obama could NOT dismiss him because if he had, it would be admitting to everything that was said about him in the campaign: that he is too immature, too inexperienced and lacks the judgment to be president.
His ego’s too big for all this.

It’s not a smear when it’s true and documented, so man up Van Jones. I mean, honestly, when are these folks going to realize that all of their past speeches can be viewed so we the people can hear for ourselves what these people say.
Touche’. YouTube is proving to be a problem for many people who want their radical or unsavory backgrounds kept under wraps. Van Jones’ a**hole comment was from several months ago, and I’ll bet he never imagined it would come back to haunt him now. That wasn’t the real problem, though… it’s more because of his anti-American, anti-white spewing and his signing that Truther document that disgraced him as a representative of the president and White House.
