Former Gov. Sarah Palin, being blamed for Alaska having to buy new letterhead, Parnell's swearing-in ceremony

Former Gov. Sarah Palin, being blamed for Alaska having to buy new letterhead, Parnell's swearing-in ceremony

Oh, wow, stop the presses… Sarah Palin is AGAIN being maligned. This time by an Alaskan newspaper.

In a nutshell, the former governor is being attacked for resigning early, which has cost the state what appears to be a grand total of about $40,000. Dang, her resignation cost them getting new letterhead with replacing governor’s Sean Parnell’s name on it! Getting new photos taken of Parnell! Paying for the swearing-in ceremony for Parnell! Paying for moving the Palin family out of the governor’s mansion! Time for liberal bloggers to spew and liberal Alaskans to wring their hands in agony and anguish.

Of course, ignore the laughably obvious fact that most of those costs would have eventualized (except maybe the special legislative session partly linked to her departure) whether or not Palin stayed through her term.

Statists, it’s spelled P-E-T-T-Y.

From Anchorage Daily News:

The final price tag will be a mere fraction of the roughly $2 million Palin has said it cost the state dealing with “frivolous” ethics complaints against her. Still, bloggers, residents, newspaper letter writers and lawmakers alike have questioned what they saw as unnecessary costs associated with Palin’s resignation 16 months before the end of her first term.

Suggesting the resignation cost the state is “incredibly misleading,” Palin’s spokeswoman, Meghan Stapleton, said in an e-mail Friday.

“The resignation was quite simply added to a previously scheduled governor’s picnic and was organized by the lieutenant governor’s office,” she said. “The governor didn’t even stay in a hotel room. However, by selflessly resigning, no doubt Governor Palin saved the state millions of dollars expected to be further wasted on even more frivolous complaints, FOIA requests, and lawsuits.

So, Palin potentially saved the state millions by selflessly stepping down, and this Alaskan newspaper is whining about buying new letterhead? Go figure.

Did Alaskan newspapers make any kind of fuss about the $328,835 taxpayers forked out for the Air Force One flyover of New York City a few months back? Or the lofty, six-figure salary “green jobs czar” Van “Truther Communist” Jones has banked for six months, not to mention the salaries of his staff, but hasn’t created ONE green job? How much was spent on Jones NOT doing his Obama-appointed job (he resigned this morning) and instead, spearheading the Glenn Beck advertiser boycott or the vicious boycott attack against Whole Foods? I don’t even want to investigate the cost of Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich’s scandal and resignation.

Alaskans paid dearly for all that, too.

Here’s a quick reality check, Anchorage Daily News. Per census and ADN data, Alaska had about 686,293 residents through 2008. Of that number, 35.8 percent of the residents were either under age 18 or over age 65, leaving 64.2 percent (about 440,600 people). For this math problem, I’m assuming that no one under age 18 or over age 65 worked or paid any income taxes (which isn’t true, but I’m feeling generous). Now, adjust for Alaska’s unemployment ranks at 8.3 percent up through July 2009, and smack away, oh, how about another 10 percent of what’s remaining to adjust for unemployed older students (over age 18), disabled people, non-working, stay-at-home parents, and people who fudge on their taxes. This leaves about 359,970 taxpayers in Alaska.

Sarah Palin’s “cost” would be around 11 cents per taxpayer, plus or minus a few cents depending on income tax brackets and the guesstimated ballparking I used. Heck, a stick of gum costs more than that.

Quit whining. And quit using Palin’s name to sell newspapers.

    Nice work, Ms. VMD!

      It cost Sarah MORE.
It was the final straw for me. It is clear to me now that there was a fork in the road. Mrs., Palin took the road marked KA-CHING.

SarahPac is set up for Mr.s Palin´s legal and travel expenses, well, that´s nice….she CANNOT run for president NOW.

Her most savvy supporters asked her to go back to Alaska and work hard…she is now a PAID SPEAKER. She holds no office, she quit…she QUIT.

So much for a political resume. VERY disappointing.

      I QUIT too!

It should be noted that Rachel D’Oro who wrote this hit piece, is a close friend of the anti-Palin bloggers, and “ethics” complaint filers. AP has disgraced itself by hiring this woman, and further disgraces itself everytime it publishes any of her stories.

I didn’t know about Rachel D’Oro being a friend of one of those vile anti-Palin bloggers (who, BTW, is suspected of being paid to do what she does via DNC or ACORN funds). Good catch, Greg… now ADN publishing this nonsense makes a little more sense.

DEOdeosil, sounds like you never liked Palin anyway. That’s your right. but for millions who support her and her conservative values, we are glad she’s now out of the MSM crosshairs of attack (well, she still is, but now she can respond where she couldn’t when she was governor). Her family was being attacked (HER KIDS!!!!) ALL THE TIME. Frivolous lawsuits by an organized effort were being a distraction and harming her family’s day to day living and costing Alaska millions of dollars in researching and defending those lawsuits. Every single lawsuit has been thrown out as being frivolous.
You try it sometime, being attacked in the media every single day. I applaud her. She is a breath of fresh air and liberals fear her power and her honesty and her American values. LOL – if she wasn’t a threat to them, why do they still keep writing about her so angrily? I don’t know if she even WANTS to be president. All I know is she has turned the Dems government health care plan upside down by exposing the lies. She’s a hero to millions. GO, SARAH!

    • AFVET says:

I love your last paragraph, couldn’t have said it better myself.

Sarah is crafty, very intelligent, and is not going to go away without a fight.
The liberal media will attack her at every turn.

She’s not done yet, mark my words.

Sarah Palin is scaring the liberals sh*tless. Ha ha ha. Whinging about $40,000 is a drop in the ocean compared to what THE ONE is spending of our money wihout batting an eye. Sarah, keep kicking the Democrats by exposing their lies and corruption. Obmaa is a vain socialist and hes being exposed. His health care death panels and his failed stimulus package are only the beginning.

Sarah, you rock! PALIN IN 2012!
