Don’t Blame Van Jones! Blame the Conservatives… And Be Sure to Include That They’re, er, uh, ALL Racists

Pres. Obama's special advisor Van Jones not to blame for his radical, Communist background that forced him to quit his WH czar post... blame the conservatives!
Is Van Jones, the disgraced “green jobs” czar, to blame for his predicament at having to quit his cushy job at the White House because of his exposed radicalism, his criminal background, his extremism, his lies, his anti-American affiliations?
Of course not! Blame the racist conservatives! You know that foul-mouthed left-wing extremist Janeane Garofalo already has…
Double points if you can also blame George W. Bush.

I think we need an award for the most convoluted attempt to interject a ‘Republicans are racist’ smear into a current news story. Because let’s face it, in the age of Obama, we’re getting hit with new ones every week. Some of them are pretty bland, but other are the rhetorical equivalent of a back dive with a full twist into the warm waters of moral superiority. Effort like that deserves recognition.
Case in point. Writing at Huff Post, Carl Pope, Executive Director of the Sierra Club tries to defend Van Jones after the fact. He has this to say about the Van Jones “crack-head” video:
Calling Bush a “crack-head” is seen by a large part of America as worse than calling him “addict-in-chief” because crack is not just a drug — it is a drug used largely by black people. It reminds those Americans who are still uncomfortable with Barack Obama that we have a black president.
Got it? Americans are offended that Van Jones called President Bush a crackhead because it reminds them President Obama is black. You in the pointy hats…ponder its genius…

Van Jones’s extremist convictions, quick departure, and the refusal of the administration to mount a defense all lead one to assume that no reasonable mainstream figure would stand against Jones’s exit. Yet Newsweek is now questioning Jones’s resignation, while Sierra Club Executive Director, Carl Pope, mounts a belated (and very incomplete) defense. If some are now turning him into a martyr, it’s worth having a look at how Jones himself believed in treating his political opponents.
Kurtz quotes a number of damning passages from an essay Jones wrote titled, “Organizing the Hip-Hop Generation” and continues:
So as the laments and defenses begin, remember that Jones is not exactly a passive victim. On the contrary, he himself apparently advocates Alinsky-style targeting and intimidation of political opponents. In fact the November 2005 profile in the East Bay Express that first got Jones into trouble says that his anti-prison group developed “a reputation for in-your-face tactics.” And don’t forget this. The main tactic used against Jones, on the other hand, has been simply to offer up his own words. By Jones’s own Alinskyite standards, that’s mild.
Don't blame Van Jones for being a subversive, radical Communist... blame those racist conservatives!
Van Jones: 9-11 Truther, supporter of Mumia-Abu Jamal who was convicted of murdering Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner, Communist, accomplished liar, radical anti-American, boycott thug organizer… what’s not to love here? Michael Moore’s likely already outlining his next documentary feature of the victimized, misunderstood Jones.
