Pelosi & Reid: Quick, Pass ObamaCare While We Still Have the Votes and No One Has Completely Read It… Plus, More UK Health Care Nightmares

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is pushing for ObamaCare to be passed, no matter what the majority of Americans want

Despite the growing criticism of the jaw-dropping mess that the government-run health care bill is in, and ignoring polls that a growing vast majority of Americans do not want this bill, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are pushing like fierce billy goats to shove the bill through Congress.

Nothing like waiting for everyone to read and intelligently discuss the most despicable, poorly written, gargantuan taxpayer drain and government power-grab legislation in the history of America, except when you DON’T want to wait for everyone to read and intelligently discuss it.

Because then, you would have to explain why taxpayers will be paying for controversial, anti-religious, elective surgery like abortion.

And why it still looks like Americans paying for the government-provided, “free” health care of non-tax-paying illegal aliens is going to happen with this bill, even though 83% of Americans have said that taxpayer-funded health care should only be available to US citizens.

Pelosi and Reid… you’re both disgraceful. Ignoring the majority of Americans and ignoring the heaping mess of manure this disaster of a jumbled bill has become is unconscionable and arrogant. Barney Frank has already said at a townhall last month he’ll vote the way HE sees fit and not worry about representing the growing number of American voters who are opposed to government-run health care.

From a previous post of mine:

Dick Morris and Greta Van Susteren discuss, in the video below, ObamaCare and why the ABC and NBC networks have refused to run a new League of American Voters anti-Obama ad. Their discussion also focuses on how the new Democrat health care bill, which Greta criticizes as an incomprehensible mess of about 1,500 disjointed pages, will penalize senior citizens by a new shift in the rationing of health care and huge cuts in Medicare…

From Jake Tapper, ABC News: Pelosi and Reid Tell President: We Have the Votes; President Wants Bill Passed Soon:

While White House spokesman Robert Gibbs today refrained from telling reporters whether President Obama in his speech Wednesday night will set a deadline for passing health care reform, sources tell ABC News that in his private meeting with Democratic congressional leaders this afternoon the key word was urgency.

The president told House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., that it is important for them to pass health care reform bills soon, the sources said.

Both leaders told the president that despite the difficult rough and tumble of the legislative process in the last few weeks, they are optimistic that both the House and Senate can pass health care reform legislation.

What will be in the bill remains an open question, though after the meeting, Reid told reporters that “we’re going to do our very best to have a public option or something like a public option before we finish this work.”

From Tim Slagle, Big Hollywood:

A comic friend once suggested that the second amendment should be viewed in its historical context, that the right to bear arms should only apply to the right to own the high technology of the 18th Century: flintlocks, muskets and blunderbusses. I suggest that if the Constitution suggests that Americans have a right to health care, that it also be taken in historical context. You have the right to bleedings, leaches and arsenic therapy; and unlimited access to the barber of your choice. Surgery will be paid for, but anesthesia is extra.

More government-run health care nightmares have been reported this week from the United Kingdom:

From Mail Online: ‘Doctors told me it was against the rules to save my premature baby’:

Doctors left a premature baby to die because he was born two days too early, his devastated mother claimed yesterday.

Sarah Capewell begged them to save her tiny son, who was born just 21 weeks and five days into her pregnancy – almost four months early.

They ignored her pleas and allegedly told her they were following national guidelines that babies born before 22 weeks should not be given medical treatment.

Miss Capewell, 23, said doctors refused to even see her son Jayden, who lived for almost two hours without any medical support.

She said he was breathing unaided, had a strong heartbeat and was even moving his arms and legs, but medics refused to admit him to a special care baby unit.

Miss Capewell is now fighting for a review of the medical guidelines…

From Telegraph: New rules on drugs will not increase access for terminally ill:

The National Institute for health and Clinical Excellence (Nice) has told its drugs appraisals committees to be more flexible and approve drugs that would not normally be considered cost effective because they are expensive and only extend life by a short period.

The new rules were praised by charities and patient groups who felt that, for some patients with rare terminal illnesses, it could mean they would get drugs that would otherwise be denied them.

But James Raftery, Professor of Health Technology Assessment at Southampton University, says that the new arrangements will do little to improve availability of expensive drugs and may result in other patient groups being denied treatment.

Writing in the British Medical Journal online he said during 1999-2008, NICE rejected 11 drugs on the grounds of cost effectiveness…
