This is the message I got when I tried to make a campaign contribution to South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson
I’ll have to try later to contribute to Rep. Joe Wilson’s campaign… no worries. Looks like I’m not the only American who wants to support this new Republican rebel rouser, this GOP upstart. Wilson’s new fans are swamping it, or left-wing extremists are attacking it – too early to tell. Allahpundit at Hot Air is calling Wilson an instant political celebrity and a grassroots love object. That made me laugh, and yes, it means Wilson will be seeing some healthy campaign contributions in the days ahead.

During Pres. Obama’s anticipated (or dreaded) speech to Congress last night about ObamaCare, it seems appropriate that the left-wing media is going nuts. Absolutely nuts because one Republican congressman, Rep. Joe Wilson of South Carolina, yelled “You lie!” when Obama said that he promised that the new health care bill would NOT cover illegal aliens. Wilson has since apologized, but no, no, no, no, no! That’s not good enough!
Can anyone remember much, if anything else, about Obama’s dusty, repetitive, lacking-specifics-as-always speech on ObamaCare? Me neither.
UPDATE: I located another website for making campaign contributions to Rep. Wilson got Rush Limbaugh’s support this morning on Limbaugh’s hugely popular EIB radio program, and very soon (like in the next half hour), Wilson will be interviewed on Sean Hannity’s radio program. I’m at work right now, and hope I’ll be able to listen to it. If not, let me know if YOU did and what you thought of it.
Notice in the above video that Obama had no problem calling Congressmen Liars just before he was called a Liar in return by Joe the Congressman Wilson.

“This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the President’s remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill. While I disagree with the President’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility.”

Any such plan should, at the minimum, must maintain current public protections from forcing taxpayers to pay for abortion — this can only be done by specifically excluding it, something none of the current plans being discussed do. There should be no government mandates. Families (and businesses) should not be faced with massive fines if they fail to follow the orders of Washington on health insurance. Enough with the Nanny State!

What I can now add is that for all the anger Wilson has caused on the Left, he is an unexpected rising star for the Right. A star supporter of freedom of speech and America’s liberties. A voice for all us little people across America who don’t trust the government’s socialized health care bill and the Democrats’ power-grabbing efforts to ram it down our throats. For all of us who have been writing to our congressmen, attending town hall protests and tea parties, Rep. Wilson has done, with just two little words — “You lie!”— more to expose the secretive illegal alien kettle of worms than anyone else. You’re a true patriot, Rep. Wilson, and we thank you for taking some heat on this issue.

UPDATE, September 12, 2009: Washington Post, Capital Briefing: S.C.’s Wilson Rakes In $750,000 in Less Than 48 Hours; Opponent Tops $1 Million
…Republicans expect Wilson to also top more than $1 million by Monday because of the immense publicity he’s received in the last 48 hours. In the relatively inexpensive South Carolina district, which takes in the southern portion of the state, the two opponents will likely have their two-year budgets filled in less than a week, strategists say.
To put this fund-raising haul in perspective, Wilson, by early next week, could equal the total amount of money he raised in the entire two-year-election cycle of 2008, when he raised a little more than $1.1 million.
Miller, by contrast, raised just $390,000 in donations for the entire 2008 cycle and lent himself another $235,000 of his own money, according to records filed with the Federal Election Commission. So he’s already doubled, in just two days, his total donations over a two-year period.

Way to Go Joe! I found a way to contribute at ‘joewilsonforcongress.com’ I am from NJ and will support any politician that speaks for the people instead of being a sheep with their nose up the other sheep’s butt and follow a shepherd. give me a break.
Bravo, Laura… I was able to donate to Wilson’s fund FINALLY today. I believe that was the site I accessed.
I live in Arizona, but I agree with you about supporting non-sheep politicians no matter what state we live in. Without them, I shudder to think where America would be today.

…Wilson spokesman Ryan Murphy said that the lawmaker had “apologized to the president sincerely, and the president accepted and said let’s move on and have a civil discourse. And the congressman agrees.” Wilson’s outburst came in response to Obama’s statement that a healthcare overhaul would not directly benefit illegal immigrants. “There are also those who claim that our reform effort will insure illegal immigrants,” the president said. “This too is false — the reforms I’m proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally.” On Thursday, some people said Wilson was right in challenging Obama’s statement.
“It is a real shame that the rest of Congress was not on their feet pointing out the president’s lie about illegal aliens in his healthcare plans,” said William Gheen, president of the Americans for Legal Immigration, a political action committee. The healthcare bills developed by House Democrats and by the Senate’s health committee explicitly prohibit illegal immigrants from receiving federal subsidies for insurance. However, the House Republican leadership has complained that there is no provision to enforce the prohibition. GOP House leaders also complain that Democrats rejected their amendment to require applicants for federally subsidized healthcare to verify their legal status.
Republican leaders said the furor over Wilson had distracted them from their efforts to talk about healthcare and Obama’s speech. They described their colleague’s prompt apology as adequate…
Well give your love to White Trash Wilson as much as you can. You’ll have just over a year to do it. You think his site crashed due to enthusiastic contributors. ROFL. You’re right, but too bad we won’t get a nickel for every ‘contribution’ of hate mail that actually shut down the site because the only contributions left by most of that traffic was a piece of their mind. You wanna talk real political contributions? His opponent who lost to Wilson by a relatively small margin, generated half a million dollars within 24 hours of Wilson’s exercise in career suicide. Oh and by the way kiddies, that $500K that poured in within hours is a quarter of what Wilson has managed to raise for himself over the last EIGHT YEARS!!! hahahahahahaha That’s even more than the $427K Wilson has pocketed over his career from the Health-care and Insurance industries that have helped him ‘speak his heart.’

Guess we’ll just have to wait and see… it ain’t over ’til it’s over. Since you don’t live in South Carolina, but in the Golden State, you won’t be voting for Wilson’s opponent. So it seems tragic and weird that you’re really embroiled in this hate-fest against the man because he uttered two words (for which he has apologized), but have no comments on the actual lies that Obama told during the speech. Links in this post examine those lies, so maybe you should read some of them to become better informed.
Enjoy your life, Yellow Dog… it’s too short to be looking for conservative blogs to spew left-wing anger on, especially today of all days, September 11. Go hug your family rather than trolling, at least for today.
