ACORN Booted from 2010 US Census: Voter Registration Fraud Could Be Ignored, Child Prostitution Ring Could Not

A young, conservative filmmaker, with his tiny sting operation exposing all sorts of unsavory doings at ACORN, has managed to accomplish what others have not been able to do. James O’Keefe’s incriminating videos of ACORN employees assisting in child pornography and tax fraud advice have tipped over the rotten apple cart.
ACORN, with its history of voter registration tax fraud, was given the benefit of the doubt to help in census “head counting” until the videos, filmed undercover at the organization’s Baltimore and Washington DC offices, has been officially booted from being involved in gathering data for the upcoming 2010 US Census. Public outcry can get durned loud, ya know.
Yes, what you’re smelling is the sweet scent of justice in the air this morning…

Census Bureau severs ties with ACORN in 2010 count

September 11, 2009WASHINGTON – The Census Bureau on Friday severed its ties with ACORN, a community organization that has been hit with Republican accusations of voter-registration fraud.
“We do not come to this decision lightly,” Census director Robert Groves wrote in a letter to ACORN, which was obtained by The Associated Press.
In splitting with ACORN, Groves sought to tamp down GOP concerns and negative publicity that the partnership will taint the 2010 head count.
“It is clear that ACORN’s affiliation with the 2010 census promotion has caused sufficient concern in the general public, has indeed become a distraction from our mission, and may even become a discouragement to public cooperation, negatively impacting 2010 census efforts,” Groves wrote…
In recent months, Republicans have become increasingly critical of the census’ ties with ACORN, which stands for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. The group, which advocates for poor people, conducted a massive voter registration effort last year and became a target of conservatives when some employees were accused of submitting false registration forms with names such as “Mickey Mouse.”

House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Ranking Member Darrell Issa (R-CA) today applauded U.S. Census Bureau Director Robert Groves’ decision to terminate its partnership with ACORN in conducting the 2010 Census: “ACORN had no business working on the Census. ACORN’s partisan election efforts and its involvement in criminal conduct rightly disqualified it from working on the non-partisan mission of the Census to accurately and honestly count the U.S. population,” said Rep. Issa. “Had ACORN been allowed to submit fraudulent information to the Census, it could have changed the boundaries of Congressional districts and altered Federal funding decisions to states and local communities. I applaud Census Bureau Director Robert Groves for making this independent decision following mounting evidence of wrongdoing by ACORN.”

Well there goes any chance at a fair and honest count of pimps and prostitutes. And I’m guessing Democrats lost thousands if not millions of imaginary or dead voters that would have been discovered during the census.
Keep an eye out though. The people at the helm of organizations like ACORN have plenty of resources, so something similar will be back under a new label. There are 30,000 groups and organizations “partnering” with the Census Bureau in the count, so it wouldn’t be tough to sneak back in under a different name.

UPDATE: Too outrageous, but yes, it’s true: The Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office issued a statement tonight indicating that it may prosecute the Big Government undercover team that conducted one of its ACORN/prostitution stings in Baltimore. O’Keefe could face up to five years in jail for violating Maryland’s wiretap laws. No word on the Attorney’s Office prosecuting the ACORN people. Outrageous. Read more at Michelle Malkin’s blog.

Woohoo! This is the story that just keeps on giving…
I attended the Springfield, Missouri, Tea Party event and was excited to see so many people out and actively voicing their opinions on taxes, reform and the role of government. The ACORN story was still all the rage, a la \Advance the Cause of Child Prostitution? YES! WE! CAN!\ at http://firebreathingchristian.wordpress.com/2009/09/10/advance-the-cause-of-child-prostitution-yes-we-can/
The videos posted at BigGovernment.com have made quite an impact. Many in the crowd had seen them and were intensely interested in the whole ACORN story.
I have loved Andrew Breitbart for ages… now I have a full-fledged crush! His new site Big Government is fabulous… everyone who is a conservative must visit it every day. Breaking the child prostitution story is just the beginning. I can’t wait to see what the headline will be on Monday.
I’m relieved about ACORN being kicked to the curb on the 2010 Census. If they have so much corruption with voter registration, it would have been a simple matter for their people to “accidentally” register millions more Democrats per district so as to to corrupt congressional representation. This was a BIG bullet the nation dodged, BIG.
Very well crafted blog, I love it, and appreciate the the fact that you do it for all the right reasons. In this day and age of mass political corruption, liberal state-run media, and rampant public apathy, it is truly refreshing to read true and honest commentary on the important issues which affect us all.
Just one suggestion if I may. I, and I’m sure many others loyal Americans as well, would like to become more involved in first booting the dishonest Democrats from Congress, and then clearing the stench from the White House. Any advice on what we can do from all corners of this great land to regain control of our country from these evil, hate-filled traitors?
Bob, I have just a few recommendations.
* Stay informed about what is going on in our government. Knowledge is crucial, as knowledge is power. We Americans must not get lazy and be happy to be ignorant. Apathy is a death sentence for freedom. As Reagan said, we are always just one generation away from having our freedoms taken away.
* Communicate with others about what is going on. This includes your friends, your family, and your elected representatives… YOUR CONGRESSMEN. They are our elected servants, to represent the majority of constituents. Many of them have forgotten this.
* Take your vote in elections seriously and never blow it off. Had more Republicans gone to the polls last November, our White House administration would be vastly different.
I believe we needed this kick in the butt, though. We needed a wakeup call, we need to shake off the complacency that we tend to lull ourselves into, myself included. Freedom is precious and there are those who will always be willing to cajole us into believing that MORE government is good. Not in a heartbeat. I am not an anarchist, as I do believe we need order and rules to keep our society functioning civilly and to prosper. But we don’t need micromanagement and that’s what our Founding Fathers built into the Constitution… limited government. We need to get our nation back on course, back to free market principles, back to being America.
Key to all this… VOTE THE WEASELS OUT. Yesterday’s tea parties and March on Washington were outstanding to send the message from the American people as to what we, the majority, want for our country and ourselves. Less government, more freedom, lowered taxes, and no socialism.
I live in washington state, and I just don’t trust our voting process. I hear that the voting machines can be tampered with, and we have had problems in the voting process. This is also a democrate state, so you know it has to be corrupt. The People will vote on something to pass, and the state takes it to court to over rule the people. The People will vote for something not to pass and they go around the people and do it anyways. This all started when we had ex-Governor Gary Locke, who is now in the Obama administration, go figure. They are all corrupt specially the democrates. Our Republican party is also not very out spoken, a bunch of weenies.
There is more to this than the 2010 Census I’d bet. Voter fraud charges and these videos are just the tip of the iceberg. We need to demand that Congress THOROUGHLY investigate ACORN per the July 23, 2009 Staff Report submitted by the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Government Reform – 111th Congress – Darrell Issa (CA-49), Ranking Member
