Wow. I’m bowled over. And a bit emotional.

Thousands upon thousands are around the water's bank, including packed crowds in the distance, near the Capitol. This photo doesn't show the huge crowd of protesters on the Mall and in front of the Capitol building... high estimate is around 2 million total

Up to two million march to US Capitol to protest against Obama’s spending in ‘tea-party’ demonstration
September 12, 2009

Up to two million people marched to the U.S. Capitol today, carrying signs with slogans such as “Obamacare makes me sick” as they protested the president’s health care plan and what they say is out-of-control spending.

The line of protesters spread across Pennsylvania Avenue for blocks, all the way to the capitol, according to the Washington Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency.

People were chanting “enough, enough” and “We the People.” Others yelled “You lie, you lie!” and “Pelosi has to go,” referring to California congresswoman Nancy Pelosi.

Demonstrators waved U.S. flags and held signs reading “Go Green Recycle Congress” and “I’m Not Your ATM.” Men wore colonial costumes as they listened to speakers who warned of “judgment day” – Election Day 2010.

Richard Brigle, 57, a Vietnam War veteran and former Teamster, came from Michigan. He said health care needs to be reformed – but not according to President Barack Obama’s plan.

“My grandkids are going to be paying for this. It’s going to cost too much money that we don’t have,” he said while marching, bracing himself with a wooden cane as he walked.

FreedomWorks Foundation, a conservative organization led by former House of Representatives Majority Leader Dick Armey, organized several groups from across the country for what they billed as a “March on Washington.”

Organizers say they built on momentum from the April “tea party” demonstrations held nationwide to protest tax policies, along with growing resentment over the economic stimulus packages and bank bailouts.

Many protesters said they paid their own way to the event – an ethic they believe should be applied to the government.

They say unchecked spending on things like a government-run health insurance option could increase inflation and lead to economic ruin.

Terri Hall, 45, of Florida, said she felt compelled to become political for the first time this year because she was upset by government spending.

“Our government has lost sight of the powers they were granted,” she said. She added that the deficit spending was out of control, and said she thought it was putting the country at risk.

Anna Hayes, 58, a nurse from Fairfax County, stood on the Mall in 1981 for Reagan’s inauguration. “The same people were celebrating freedom,” she said. “The president was fighting for the people then. I remember those years very well and fondly.”

Saying she was worried about “Obamacare,” Hayes explained: “This is the first rally I’ve been to that demonstrates against something, the first in my life. I just couldn’t stay home anymore.”

From New York Times:

…Many demonstrators expressed their views without a hint of rage. They said the size of the crowd illustrated that their views were shared by a broader audience.

“I want Congress to be afraid,” said Keldon Clapp, 45, an unemployed marketing representative who recently moved to Tennessee from Connecticut after losing his job. “Like everyone else here, I want them to know that we’re watching what they’re doing. And they do work for us.”

As Mr. Obama traveled to Minnesota on Saturday to rally support for his health care plan, he flew over the assembling crowd in Marine One. The helicopter could be seen flying overhead as the demonstrators marched down Pennsylvania Avenue.

“This is not some kind of radical right-wing group,” Senator Jim DeMint, Republican of South Carolina, said in an interview as dozens of people streamed by him. “I just hope the Congress, the Senate and the president recognize that people are afraid of what’s going on.”

From Gateway Pundit:

TWO MILLION PLUS PROTEST BIG GOVERNMENT IN DC
The tally coming from Washington DC Tea Party Protest.

Both CNN and ABC are reporting…….
…2 MILLION PLUS– PROTESTERS!

Here’s a time-lapse video (no audio) of today’s Washington, DC March (3.5 hours in 40 seconds). An explanation of how the video was created, provided by the video’s creator, is below. Absolutely amazing to watch the crowd swell… and swell… and swell.

9/12 Protest Washington DC Time Lapse Footage 0800 – 1130

“We have some liberal idiots amongst us who are incapable of performing math or grasping how averages work (it’s not surprising that they don’t know the difference between net and gross, since they don’t pay taxes) so I will be nice and hold their hands:

“The majority of the time, IE the time passed during the day, NOT the time passed during the video, (there is a MASSIVE difference as 80% of the day takes up only 30% of the video) has been sampled every 3 to 4 minutes to hurry it along, down to every 60 seconds for the actual march to portray the movement properly.

“The shortest time span between frames here is 60 seconds despite the source being updated every 2 seconds. All frames were captured manually by me as .PNG files, extended to 1/3 second long and stitched together at 30FPS. Yes, that’s how I spent my morning… sitting on my ass pushing a button.

So… framerate = 30 to satisfy YouTube’s algorithms, visible framerate = 1/3 of that as 10FPS is taken up displaying the same image. Total running time approx 40 sec, total time represented = 3.5 hours.”

Reminder to left-wing conspiracy theorists: flags were still at half-mast on Saturday, still honoring the victims of the terrorist attacks on 9/11/2001. The date of the March on Washington was 9/12. So for those who are all giggly like little boys peeking in the girls’ gym showers, no photos were faked, morons. But thanks for that heapin’ helpin’ of left-wing nutbar denial. Yes, the picture is real, nutroots.

From Hot Air:

Anyone have any official/nonpartisan estimates? I’ve seen numbers ranging from 50,000 on the low end (from David Shuster, natch) up to “a healthy six figures” from Reason’s Matt Welch on up to the two million figure cited by the boss earlier this morning, which ABC insists it never reported. As of a few hours ago, D.C. police were refusing to make any estimates but ABC got some unspecified city officials on the record claiming there 60,000 to 75,000 people there. Any other numbers floating around? E-mail me if so. I think using protest size as a gauge of popular sentiment is stupid — witness the huge turnouts against the war in early 2003 when public support was in the neighborhood of 65 percent — but it’s a fun talking point, so let’s have fun.

In the next video (h/t to Hot Air), CNN Capitol Hill correspondent Lisa Desjardins does a live report of the protest from the National Mall. At the start of the interview, anchor Fredricka Whitfield “forewarns” the audience that there might be some yelling during the report.

Desjardins struggles to get through the interview in front of chants of “tell the truth” and “go home, CNN”. After Whitfield asks Desjardins to “give it one more shot,” the tea partiers start chanting Glenn Beck’s name (too funny). The reporter then asks the protesters: “What do you think of Congressman Joe Wilson?” The crowd reacts with loud cheers and applause, then starts chanting, “Way to go, Joe! Way to go, Joe!”

From Glenn Reynolds, Instapundit:

So maybe I was wrong to be so skeptical. But cut it in half and it’s still a huge number. And this is priceless: “Many protesters said they paid their own way to the event – an ethic they believe should be applied to the government.” Why is the British press more honest in its reporting on this stuff than the American press?

Meanwhile, a reader emails: “I’ll tell you what I find impressive. I’m watching the Fox news video about 15 minutes after the end of the event. The crowd has thinned out enough that you can see the ground and there is not a speck of trash on the grass. Absolutely clean. To contrast, google ‘pictures of litter on the mall after the inauguration.’”

From Reason Hit and Run:

I just came back from spending four-plus hours with the Don’t-Tread-On-Me crowd at our nation’s capitol. Expect a full Reason.tv report later, but my snap impressions:

* Big crowd. Do not believe any description that says “thousands.” If there weren’t at least a healthy six figures there, I will permanently revoke my head-counting license.

* Nineteen out of 20 signs were hand-made. My favorite was “Stop spending our tacos. I love tacos.” The most popular were variations on “Don’t tread on me,” “You lie,” complaints about Obama’s “socialism,” warnings about the 2010 elections, references to the deficit or big spending, critiques of Obamacare, and (especially) cracks about various czars (including not a few that equated czars with Soviet Communism). Godwin’s Corollary was satisfied on multiple occasions, including “Hitler gave great speeches, too,” “The Nazis did national health care first,” and someone comparing Obama’s 2009 with Hitler’s 1939 (alas, we didn’t get to ask him whether America was about to invade Poland). Michael Moynihan did have a nice chat about George Marshall with the fellow holding a sign saying “McCarthy was right.” There was an “Obama bin lyin’,” “Feds = treason,” “Birth certificate,” and “Glenn Beck for president.” Greatly outnumbering such things were references to the Constitution, taking our country back, and so forth.

* Chants on the march included “Shut down ACORN!” and “Boot Charlie Rangel!” and “Don’t tread on me.” There was not a single “Hey Hey/Ho Ho” in evidence. Songs included “Glory Hallelujah” and “My Country ‘Tis of Thee.” The most moving chant might have been when we walked past the Newseum, with its ginormous carving of the First Amendment on the side, and the crowd spontaneously said “Read that wall! Read that wall!”

Wow! Looks like a lot of white people are mad that the white people who ran our country for the last 12 years messed up…but wait! Where were all these white people when Bush and Cheney and the Republicans were in control the last 12 years? Where were all these white people when Bush bailed out the banks in October of last year? Looks like their little white heads are expoloding cause a black dude is President. And this black dude seems to be a lot smarter than their whtie Republican legislators. Get a grip folks.

    • admin says:

Barbara, stop being a childish racist and choosing to be ignorant about socialism and Obama’s role in it. A person’s color does not matter to thinking people (but obviously it does to you). A person’s ideology, his adherence to the US Constitution (his main duty) and his patriotism does matter if he is our leader, our POTUS.

I still support MUCH of what Pres. Bush did for our country. As do many other people of non-Christian, non-white heritage. Why do liberals always feel compelled to remind us that Obama is black (half-white, actually)? Kinda silly and very telling about their level of [lack of ] understanding about the melting pot of America. Why does his color mean so much to you, but not his thoughts, his background, his associations, his philosophies, his political beliefs, his drives, his lust for power, his desire for greater government control? If he were white, would you still be this ill-informed?

Bush made mistakes (liberal trolls are oblivious to the fact that all leaders make mistakes… they close their eyes to Democrat mistakes and go wacko if it’s a Republican mistake), but overall, he had our nation’s security first and foremost in mind. I did not support Bush on his signing of TARP… but what’s that? He didn’t write it? He wasn’t on TV all the time pushing-pushing-pushing for it? He wasn’t flying out on Air Force One every week, trying to convince people that they needed to accept it? Have you already forgotten that the final two years of Bush’s presidency we had a DEMOCRAT majority in Congress? The president is not responsible for authoring legislation. That’s the duty of Congress.

What? TARP was forced on him to sign by the Democrat majority??
Bailing out the banks was pushed zealously by Pelosi and Reid and Frank as the only means to keep America financially solvent. You’re being disingenuous to suggest it was Bush’s doing. He was told that if he didn’t sign it, America would go under. And now, I see that it actually accomplished what it was meant to. It was meant to infuse our banks with enough money to stay open and not go belly up. And it did that. Unfortunately, it then prompted Congress to go wild and crazy with more bills to hand out money willy-nilly like it was candy. Billions and billions of dollars…

But TARP was only a small fix, and more government meddling in our fiscal affairs has increased the problem. Because of the financial explosion of bad loans defaulting (the Carter and Clinton administrations initiated many ill-conceived reinvestment and entitlement acts, and also forced banks to make large loans to minorities who could not otherwise qualify), and the vast number of defaulting loans that ACORN spearheaded, along with the lack of oversight and regulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (which Bush tried on several occasions to have Congress pass, but Barney Frank and others shot him down), we are now in this mess. There are other factors contributing to it, but those were the biggies. Free markets will usually correct themselves if left alone. But the Democrats decided that “only government can solve this” and by interfering, they have made it FAR, FAR worse. The stimulus/porkulus bill that Obama pushed (with nearly 9,000 pork barrel items in it) is a prime example.

You choosing to revise and omit key points on what actually happened last October with the passing of the bailouts is typical hypocrisy of statists. Your Democrat leaders went nuts on passing more bailouts. Many, many Republicans were against it… just read Michelle Malkin or Ann Coulter or Rush Limbaugh once in a while, and you’d realize the ignorance of your naive statement.

But, that’s a distraction from the current state of government power grabbing and the outcry of so many Americans that has prompted the myriad tea parties and the 9/12 March on Washington.

Point out where Obama has demonstrated that he will stand up for America. Point out where socialized medicine has flourished. Point out where our Democrat Congress has not attempted to dismantle the limits of government provided for us in the Constitution. Point out where he has genuinely expressed pride in our great country and its citizens. You can’t.

You wrote: “Looks like their little white heads are expoloding cause a black dude is President. And this black dude seems to be a lot smarter than their whtie Republican legislators. Get a grip folks.”

What an ignorant, elitist, racist thing to say, Barbara.

Not a thing has EVER been said in any of my posts about Obama’s race being a negative or his intelligence being below par, but instead, I have analyzed and criticized his motives, his agenda, his inexperience, his arrogance, his ideologies, his drive to turn our nation from our original roots of freedom for the people to that of tyranny and government control. I believe he’s very smart about how to go about his socialist agenda, since he’s a top student of the Saul Alinsky “Rules for Radicals.” And millions of Americans feel the same way. Stop playing that old race card… it’s not working anymore, Barbara. I have never been a racist, judging people on what’s inside, but sadly, you are a racist by judging them on what they look like.

How pathetic and tragic that you and other liberals are so racist that you can’t see past the man’s skin color and see the Marxist/socialist inside. How sad that you can’t be honest and evaluate, critique, and judge someone of African descent identically as you would judge someone who is Caucasian. How truly insulting that you do not judge a black person on his or her lack of character, integrity, or honesty, but decide like a foolish child that all white people must be against blacks since you obviously are.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., I’m confident, would be horrifically appalled at what Obama is doing to America, destroying capitalism, destroying initiative, rewarding the undeserving while punishing those who have worked hard and done well, rewarding laziness and punishing success. He is destroying the foundation of what makes America great.

I’m proud that our country elected a black to the office of president… I deeply regret that Barack Obama was not the right man for the job, for our country, for our liberty.

How amusing that YOUR head is exploding because fewer people of all colors are supporting him and more are waking up to the nightmare he will bring on our nation.

    • John Doe says:

Barbara, I noticed in this post where you accuse white people of being racists and in your second post where you kinda vomit out everything you ever hated about Bush, well, I noticed a definite writing style change. Also, an IQ level difference.

Fess up, Babs… did your favorite leftist college professor help you out with writing that second rant? And your second post about Medicare/Medicaid is fruit loops… we never wanted it, most of us weren’t even born when it was passed, but we’re stuck with it now and the disaster it is. We’re not yet stuck with Dear Leader’s socialized nightmare, not YET, and that’s why the protests are happening. We don’t want the government to contorl our health care. Why are you being so dense? And what’s with your myopic fetish with Bush and Cheney?

Note to Admin – Don’t bother responding anymore to this liberal troll. Even if you wrote something undeniable and it took you hours to do it, she’d freak out and bring up totally new anti-Bush crap. She doesn’t want to debate, she wants to have us all fall in love with Obama. Why? Which she has never said why we should honor and love and respect him and follow him blindly and not protest. Why should we stop caring about our civil liberties being torn away, Barbara? You would be the first whiner about that I’m sure. Obama is bad news for the entire nation. Get it through your pitiful socialist head, we don’t want to be an ignorant statist like you Barbara.

Leftwingers keep forgetting that Bush has left the building… idiots. But lots of laughs until they wear out their welcome.

You can lead a liberal to knowledge, but you can’t make him or her think.

    To Barbara –

That racist card you libs keep pulling out is so 2008. Get with the program. Conservatives and independents and many Democrats that no longer support Obama don’t care that “your guy” is black. Good God, We care that he’s ruining the country and is a socialist. I would love to say I rspect my president but I fear what he wants to do to my country. I will respect him when he stops apologizing to the world about how horrible we all are (yeah, my granddad helped liberate the French, such a terrible American) and stops screwing the economy adn honors our military and acts like a US president. He acts like a rich college kid going wild with Daddy’s credit card. He doesn’t even listen to his own economic experts. Spend, spend spend. He thinks he’s smart in everything in the universe – medicine, economy, foreign affairs, global warming, everything. Arrogant fool like the other fools in DC. One word for that – DELUSIONAL. It took him 6 months to pick out a dog but he was trying to ram his health care bill through in less than 6 weeks. Until Americans spoke out to their Congress members and now, we’re learning about all the garbage that is in th e bill.

Stop bringing up Bush. old news and shows your ignorance. Have you forgotten that he isn’t in office any more? We’re upset with the current president. Bush is gone, so it’s dumb to keep bringing it up. It’s like your second husband is giving you problems but all you can do is criticize stuff your first husband did. Stupid ya know? And yes I did speak out against Bush on a number of things. I didn’t keep bringing up Bill Clinton if I was angry with Bush. But I trusted Bush. I don’t trust Dear Leader.

Thanks for your blog. I am a conservative independent. I did not vote for President Obama or Senator McCain. I wrote in my vote. I took part in the March on Washington for the following reasons: 1) Intrusion of government into private business. 2) Misappropriation of Medicare/Medicaid funds by the government 3) the continued degradation of the Constitution by the politicians and lawyers in government. 4) the attacks on our liberties. How can anyone justify labeling me a racist?

    • admin says:

      Jess,
Liberals call anyone a racist these days when they don’t have a fact-based response to anything suggesting disapproval of Pres. Obama. Sadly, there ARE racists out there, but by running around calling everyone a racist, liberals are actually making a mockery of the term. America has wised up to this.

I’m proud of you and the thousands upon thousands who took action this weekend, and at previous town hall meetings and tea parties, for not kowtowing or being complacent about the dismantling of our Constitution. You exercised your freedom of speech and took action in a peaceful manner for your beliefs. So many people from around the country, people who have never protested before, dipped into their dwindling savings to fly into Washington to be part of the solution. Regular people who are passionate about America and are fed up about Congress and the Obama administration trying to micromanage their lives and rob them of their hard-earned money. To you Jess, I say, “Bravo! Well done!”

It must have been an exhilarating experience! *jealous face* Did you take pictures when you were in DC?

    • AFVET says:

Stick around Jess, this is one of the greatest blogs out there.

None of the True Americans are racists, we want to defend our Constitution, and the principles that built this Country to the extent to what we enjoy today and have for years.

We are confronted with an administration that is ignoring the will of the American People.
The MSM does not report on the will of the American People.
The Senate may invoke reconciliation to pass “a health bill”.

The cadre of czars in the White House has enough power to bypass Congress if need be.
That is bypassing the voice of the American People.

  8. Barbara Beneitone says:

Admin, I read your litany and had to laugh at the lack of unbiased political discourse you possess. You are a typical Republican historical revisionist and a citizen of the United States of Amnesia. Let’s start with a few points.

We were attacked on Bush and Cheney’s watch and they went about unraveling the constitution for the next 8 years. Illegal wiretapping, politicization of the judicial branch, lying us into war, secret meeting with energy companies,no bid contracts,(Haliburton and Blackwater.) war profiteering, outing a CIA agent and I could go on and on. I don’t read Anne Coulter, Rush Limp-baugh or Malkin. Why don’t you read John Dean’s (lawyer who served under Nixon) Books about Bush and Cheney, “Worse than Watergate”, “Broken Government”- how the Republican rule destroyed the legislative, executive and judicial branches. And last but not least, “Conservatives without a Conscience”. FDR did not unravel the constitution when we were bombed at Pearl Harbor. I also read Howard Zinn. Ever heard of him?

Ever hear of Frank Schaeffer? He and his father Rev,. Frances Schaeffer started the moral majjority in this country and he is paying penname for it every day he lives. He is the father of your tea parties and he said you are misguided souls. Calling someone a Nazi says its okay to kill that person according to Schaeffer. He knows the agenda too well. Why don’t you contact him and have a conversation with him? He is the one who first penned the fact that white heads are exploding and he is right!. Here, listen to him in his own words. Copy and paste below.

The CIA says death threats against this President are up 400%. 30 death threats a day. And it is the dialogue from people of your ilk who are bringing out the KKK wackos in this country. Glenn Beck calling Obama a racist, Faux news calling him a Nazi, communist, socialist and Islamic sympathizer who hangs out with terrorists. Saying his healthcare has “death panels”, he’s gonna pull the plug on grandma and okay abortions under his health care plan. Lies.. Glenn Beck portraying himself poisoning Nancy Pelosi….. Innocent talk show talk??. I ask again…where were you people when Bush and Cheney and the rubber stamping Republicans were destroying this country? And you say they had nothing to do with the bailouts in October of 2008. It is easier to lie and blame Obama for all this mess. It is also a lie.

You like FACTS so well admin then why do you continue to ignore or distort them? The Republicans have been the majority in the house from 1994 until January of 2007. That’s 13 years of Republican majority. The Republicans controlled the Senate until January of 2007 when Bernie Sanders, an independent, gave the Democrats 1 more vote than Republicans.. YOU HAVE BEEN THE MAJORITY FOLKS!!

Why don’t you guys read the Medicare Modernization Act of 2004 that was written and passed by Republicans. It was a give away to the drug and insurance companies. 1.2 trillion dollars over a 10 year period. 30 billion goes to the drug companies because of the “donut hole” and another 540 billion goes directly to the insurance companies for Nada!! WE will scrub that give away to big insurance and drug companies and give it to the people instead!!! Do you people seriously think its okay for big business to run America? Like what they did to Wall Street? Glad the Republicans didn’t privatize social security so it could go away like the rest of the money? Maybe you don’t need your social security benefits. though. Ask Enron employees about their retirement fund. Ask Eastern Airline employees about their retirement fund. The big companies raped and pillaged the retirement funds and all they have left is their social security. You right wingers can thank FDR for that!!

Voting records for veterans benefits is another sore spot with me. Every Republican voted against a bill to provide more time between deployments to be with their families and every Democrat voted for it. Jim Webb’s bill to restore educational benefits to the vets was voted against by almost every Republican including John McCain and Mr. Joe Wilson. Joe Wilson has voted against the last 11 healthcare bills for veterans in the last 8 years. Some hero you people have.

Did you call Glen Beck a racist for calling Obama a racist by chance? You all drink the kool-aid Faux news sellls. Why don’t you people read or watch something besides shock jocks who are on the brink of insanity? You are all controlled through fear and what a mess this has made of my country.

Barbara, you spent a lot of time at writing this, and I appreciate you working so very hard at it.

I’m on a deadline at work, and promise to read it later today when/if time permits. I am FAR more courteous to left-wingers than left-wing bloggers are. If you were a conservative writing this and submitted something similar to this to a left-wing blog, you would NOT be posted. Guaranteed. So insulting me as much as you have has worn thin and frankly, annoying. If you wish to debate civilly, yes. But you started off attacking me, and because I thought you had a few salient points to make, I let your nasty diatribe go through.

If any other posts attack me and other conservatives as much as this and your previous one, you’re outta here. I only have so many hours in a day and you spewing all this venom is getting very tiresome. This is a conservative blog, buttercup, and you’re not striving for discussion but for lambasting. Read the rules… I’ve already bent them for you more than for most.

Real quick though… No, I did not call “Glenn” (two “N’s”) a racist when he called Obama a racist. Because calling someone what they are is not indicative that the person making the statement is the same. Leftists always get confused on that. It would be like asking me if I called Glenn Beck a socialist because he called Obama one, or a Communist because he called Van Jones a Communist, or that I call Glenn a Chicago-politics thug because he called Rahm Emanuel one. You get the picture. Very flawed logic. And your link is to raging leftist Rachel Maddow, I see… heck, why not just link to other Obama-bots in the MSM like Olbermann and Matthews?

Like I said, you worked very hard on writing this, so it is obviously important to you. But I am unable to fully read it now and want to give it more than just a cursory view. And btw… you seem to think conservatives read only conservative sources. Most of us (at least I do) read Huffington Post, La Times, NYT, and other extremely leftist publications to see what left-wingers are up to. I use them as sources and link to them (I’m guessing you haven’t read any other posts here). I can’t stomach Daily Kos… too much violence and profanity.

Lots of caps here, akin to shouting, so knock it off… not sure what your point is, but will read the whole piece in full later: “You like FACTS so well admin then why do you continue to ignore or distort them? The Republicans have been the majority in the house from 1994 until January of 2007. That’s 13 years of Republican majority. The Republicans controlled the Senate until January of 2007 when Bernie Sanders, an independent, gave the Democrats 1 more vote than Republicans.. YOU HAVE BEEN THE MAJORITY FOLKS!!”

Barbara, what’s your point on that one??? Yes, it was a majority then. What in the heck does that have to do with Obama’s “spread the wealth, tax Americans to death” agenda? Socialism on hormones right here and right now, and you’re ranting hysterically about a former Republican majority. I had some issues with Bush Sr., with Clinton, with Bush Jr. But never have I felt so repulsed as I do with this current administration and its power-grabbing and destruction of so much of America’s foundation. I think what you’re saying is “Things are really bad now because there ISN’T a Republican majority in Congress,” and YES, you would be dead-on right. OK, I know you’re not saying that… but in fact, you accidentally make my point about this administration.

        Admin

Thank you for prinitiing my letter . I relayed only facts for you to check out., but again, you twist the truth and are determined not to look at the past mistakes of Republicans. You say Obama has destroyed our country since January? He has taxed the middle class? Could you give me the facts about that please? He wants the top 2% of rich in this country to pay their fair share in taxes. Here’s a link from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, which is not a liberal blog and it shows that the the top 1% of Americans reaped 2/3 of the encome gains in the last economic expansion..Now that is what I call redistribution of wealth. Here is it.

        http://www.cbpp.org/cms/index.cfm?fa=view&id=2908

Why do you people think its okay for the head of United Health Care to get 100,000 an hour? Did he invent the wheel? And not pay taxes during a time of war!!!

Please go to some of the liberal sites and see the comments from the right..it is hateful, racist and sexist. About like Fuji here on this site. Implying that I might be a lesbian because I am liberal….wow. not good for young children to read Fuji. The liberal blogs i participate in do not refuse to print anyone’s opinion and sadly to say, many are vile but it is the truest form of freedom of speech. I can’t get on Rush Limbaugh unless I say “ditto” saying I agree with him. Wish i could set up a debate between Limbaugh and Olbermann. I don’t think Limbaugh would show up….kinda like why he didn’t serve during Vietnam. He might call in sick with a recurrence of that boil on his butt. Can I say butt?

Thanks admin for the political discourse…you are a good example for some of these people.

Settle down and watch the videos that were recorded over the weekend (9/12) and see the Americans that made a statement to their government against socialistic policies being forced upon us.

Open your mind, read the Constitution, watch America.

The left wing radicals are out-numbered and the crooks are just beginning to be exposed.

    • admin says:

Here’s a portion of what you wrote: Illegal wiretapping, politicization of the judicial branch, lying us into war, secret meeting with energy companies,no bid contracts,(Haliburton and Blackwater.) war profiteering, outing a CIA agent and I could go on and on. I don’t read Anne Coulter, Rush Limp-baugh or Malkin.

      First things first.

Your first post addressed that white conservatives were angry that a black is president which prompted the 9/12 March on Washington. I’ve already addressed that is an error and bigotted. Yes, I’m sure there are some who are, but they are in the vast minority. No thinking person feels that way… what they are in protest over is Congress and Obama taking us down a socialist/fascist path and proposing to micromanage us, while taxing the ever-livin’ daylights out of regular Americans.

Illegal wire tappings: These were part of the Patriot Act, which was prompted by the gruesome, terrorist attacks of 9/11. The Patriot Act was passed by Congress, so in the strictest sense, it is not illegal as its intent it to monitor and gather foreign intelligence. Those whose communications were scrutinized were first determined to be potential terrorists or contacts because of international communications. I know of no private US citizen who was wiretapped. It was not capricious, but security-based. Yes, as I’ve written before, I was uncomfortable with this, but trusted our government (and still do) that because of the imminent threat of new terrorist attacks on our homeland, this was a necessary course of action to ensure America’s safety in this day and age. No terrorist attack has occurred on US soil since 9/11, and if listening for key words in phone conversations such as “bomb,” “kill,” “al Qaeda,” etc. was necessary to prevent Boise or Boston or Beverly Hills from being attacked by terrorists, I am in concurrence with the action. Safeguarding Americans’ lives from enemy attack is the Commander in Chief’s primary duty. As of this time, to my knowledge, Obama still employs this wiretapping. At least, when I last researched it, which has been a few months, he did. On the other hand, the White House’s desire to have emails about those who don’t agree with socialized health care, wanting citizens to police and report on their neighbors, should have chilled you to the bone. Thankfully, the Obama administration made a hasty retreat from that once members of Congress and a few in the media questioned the action.

Politicization of the judicial branch: Every judge will have his or her outlook be a factor in making judgments, whether conservative or liberal. I’m not sure what your point is here. Every Supreme Court judge that has been appointed in the last 25 years was of the same party affiliation as the sitting president. The main concern I have with our most current Supreme Court judge, Sonia Sotomayor, is her radical activist background and her liberal interpretation of the US Constitution. I never expected Obama to appoint a Republican/conservative, but because of her questionable rulings and her propensity to rule based on emotions and not the law, found her to be a poor choice. That’s my opinion and many others. The hell that Democrats put Clarence Thomas through during the congressional hearings was shameful and disgusting. Sotomayor, with a much greater radical background, was treated much more fairly and professionally. Politicization is evident on both sides of the fence, so I’m not sure why you’re bringing it up as though it was something that GW Bush only supposedly did. If you’re referring to all judges in the country, I’m not well versed on that, but I’m confident that politicization is equally, if not more so, done.

Lying us into war: Did you mean to write “lying to us to get us into war”? If so, I firmly disagree. Left-wingers have been accusing Bush of this for years, despite evidence to the contrary. Based on intelligence gathered, there were many reasons to believe that future threats to our country were in Afghanistan and Iraq. Much of the anti-Bush information floating about in reference to Bush is unfounded, unproven theories by war protesters and wacky Truthers. I do indeed believe that WMD’s were in the hands of Saddam Hussein in Iraq. Osama bin Laden ordered the hit on the Twin Towers… he didn’t actually orchestrate the hit, he just ordered it of his generals. They did on September 11, 2001. Bin Laden proudly took credit of it, and al Qaeda were the terrorist group that bin Laden led. At this point, it becomes militarily complicated. Decisions had to be made as to where the battlefield would be… no one in Congress or the Bush administration wanted the battle field to be here in the US. Prior to this, both the US and UK got intelligence that Iraq had WMDs. So, inspectors had been sent to look for WMDs, but hide and seek games occurred with inspectors at the front of a facility being stalled and huge diesel trucks streaming out the back. Combine that bin Laden took credit for the 9/11 attacks (and needed to be captured or killed) and our intelligence indicated the presence of WMD’s in Iraq, it was determined that to accomplish both objectives, Iraq would be the logical battle field. Congress approved by a majority the invasion of Iraq. Because al Qaeda is not a legitimate “army,” but like vicious street urchins, fighting them proved to be more complex than had been anticipated by our military leaders, and while mistakes were made, as in all wars, progress was made and lessons learned. In all this, and there is a great deal more (most of which has not been released for security reasons), we ultimately have achieved much of our objectives, although not all. There is debate about whether or not bin Laden is still alive. He has videos pop up every so often, but there is no concrete evidence that they are current. Al Qaeda has been fleeing from Iraq to neighboring countries, particularly Afghanistan, which is a more rugged terrain and have many more hiding places than Iraq. Winters in the mountains of Afghanistan are brutal and permit the terrorists to more easily hide. But that wasn’t your point. You said that Bush lied so that he could get us into the war. I don’t agree, never have, and have always supported our troops and our mission in Iraq. Congress did too, and then, Democrats started being woosy turncoats who saw an opportunity to undermine Bush in the public’s eye. No war can be put on a desired timetable like building a house or cooking a batch of cookies. Anti-war protesters have always been around, and the left-wing MSM fed the anti-war fever. But I have always supported our mission.

Secret meeting with energy companies: I’m not clear on what this is about.

No bid contracts (Haliburton and Blackwater): These are not illegal in the US. They are much faster to accomplish, and in times of war, are preferred because time is of the essence, and bids take a long time to propose and process. However, they often prompt distrust, which must be what you’re referring to. The ambushing and killing of 4 Blackwater employees in Fallujah, whose bodies were hung on bridges, was disgusting. The Nisoor Square incident with Blackwater was tragic and the perpetrators have been dealt with. Blackwater really screwed up with shipping firearms without the proper permits to Iraq. I’m not familiar with Haliburton. I’m not sure what your point is. No-bid contracts have been used for years and are legal; having a bid contract instead of a no-bid never ensures that the selected company will perform perfectly.

What I do know is that the company that took over when Blackwater’s contract was not renewed this past spring was not too long ago a Chicago-based (Obama’s home stomping grounds) company, Triple Canopy. It is now based in Virginia. Triple Canopy has a pretty bloody, notorious history in Iraq, possibly rivaling that of Blackwater. Triple Canopy is known to hire mercenaries from countries with atrocious human rights records. Additionally, Obama has not just been using Triple Canopy in Iraq now for the past few months, but also as a U.S.-government funded private security force in Israel/Palestine, operating out of Jerusalem. To the best of my knowledge, the contract with Triple Canopy was no-bid. There are many concerns and controversies about Triple Canopy, but the mainstream media has been pretty mute on the matter.

War profiteering: I’m not sure what your point is on this. Are you claiming that GW Bush was a war profiteerer? Or that others were? No matter… war profiteering, as heinous as it is, has occurred to some extent in all wars since the beginning of time. I know of no evidence that Bush profited from the war.

Frank Schaeffer: He isn’t the “father of the tea party.” The true origins of our modern tea parties is Rick Santelli during his now-famous TV rant back in February. He prompted a rally to Americans to take back America like the rebels during the Boston Tea Party did, and his message went wild over YouTube. It resonated with Republicans AND Democrats, and soon thereafter, isolated tea party protests started happening. About a month later, it was decided to have a major tea party across the country on Tax Day, April 15. You bring up Frank Schaeffer, who is an odd man of contradictions… he wrote “Why I’m Pro-Life and Pro-Obama,” which seems to ignore Obama’s pro-abortion stance. I know a bit about Schaeffer, likely much more than you know of Michelle Malkin, Rush Limbaugh, or Anne Coulter, so on this one, I don’t know what your point is and how it relates to you calling me and others racist.

I’ve expressed my views as a conservative in over 800 posts on this blog. Read some. You likely won’t agree with any of them, and that’s your right, but I’m quite passionate and well-schooled on my ideologies and my faith in God. You asked questions that have been addressed multiple times in this blog… I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt that you’re actually asking questions rather than being a typical statist at bombarding me with questions to distract from the one area you are curiously avoiding… Obama’s dismantling of the Constitution and his socialist/fascist agenda. Bush was not a true conservative, but he never attempted the immense power-grabbing government crud that Obama is.

On the economy, in a nutshell, Obama is clueless. He doesn’t understand free market principles. He believes in spreading wealth, which has never brought countries to prosperity. He believes a “trickle up” economy will solve our problems. If that were the case, Mexico would be filled with millionaires. Supply and demand, capitalism, being rewarded for your labors, not rewarding the undeserving, small government… all of these are my principles and those upon which our Constitution was built. I’m not an anarchist. I was a liberal years ago until I realized that what liberals want to do is to give to others… but they want YOU, not themselves, to be forced into the giving. The “giving” comes with strings or with intended votes, and has resulted in keeping the poor in their current state. “Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime.” Welfare and other entitlements that taxpayers provide lull people into laziness, into expecting the trough to always be full for them. It’s good to a point, but it breaks down when in excess. I’ve been an active volunteer for many non-profit organizations over the years, but I did it out of my own choice, was never told by the government that I had to do it. Once that happens, it is no longer charity but slavery. And that is one of the many proposals of Obama that I oppose vehemently. Fascist/socialist ideologies are what have destroyed many other countries’ economy and citizens’ innovation, and will do the same to ours.

You said that when Obama took office, our economy was in the worst shape since the Great Depression. That’s utter nonsense. Unemployment back then was around 30%. Since Obama started with his radicalism, unemployment and underemployment has surged. Our economy has been pretty darned good for about the past 20 years, up until this last year. The disaster we are now in is based on unsound economic principles of Obama’s administration and deep-seated distrust by the nation (particularly business owners) who can’t plan financially for tomorrow because of the ongoing new garbage the White House keeps throwing at us.

How can a small business hire three new employees if he or she isn’t sure what the president will do with new taxes on energy, financial mandates with socialized health care, a ping-ponging stock market, overspending mentality, government takeovers on the auto industry, etc.? Unemployment is at a high not seen in decades, home foreclosures have slowed, but are still shaky. The stimulus package exceeded $700 billion and has not stimulated anything substantial. Under Bush, you could plan for tomorrow and next week. Under Obama, you can’t. The auto bailouts Obama insisted on are already crashing. The outrageously expensive porkulus bill is a failure. Cash for Clunkers was handled poorly and with great short-sightedness. Socialized health care is an expensive mess in so many countries, it’s a nightmare. Too much money for all government programs go to the government. In many cases, it doubles the cost. Government produces nothing but consumes plenty. I’ve written MANY posts on this, with many corroborating sources.

And that is why people have been attending tea parties and town hall protests, Barbara. Our president’s poll numbers are plunging, he’s not listening to his economic advisors or the American majority. He believes in a fascist/socialist state. It’s not his race, like you want to think. It’s his overwhelming ideologies. I love this country with all my heart. I love our spirit, our diversity, our freedoms. I am distressed that our current president does not demonstrate that same love, that same patriotism. America is the most wonderful nation on earth, and in just 8 months, Obama’s calculated meddling and micromanaging has pushed us further to the brink than Jimmy Carter ever did. I trusted Bill Clinton more than Obama, Bush more than Obama. The economic situation under Bush and Clinton was a picnic compared to what Obama has wrought already.

Increased welfare entitlements, exploding government positions, excessive Czar positions, “media diversity”/Fair Doctrine silencing of government dissension… I could go on and on. You said the rich must pay “their fair share.” And what would THAT be? A flat tax? I’d go for that. Punishing them because they took high risks with capital and prospered? No, I don’t agree with that. Without the risk takers, the inventors, the entrepreneurs, our country would not have been as fiscally prosperous, because when they succeed, the trickle-down to all of us below occurs. Businesses hire people like us. Small businesses make up the vast majority of businesses/commerce in this country. Obama’s aim to grab more taxes from big and small businesses will put even more small businesses into bankruptcy or stagnant growth. Democrats love to tax, but there’s a breaking point, and Obama’s reckless proposals have surpassed it.

I hope this answers most of your questions (obviously, to answer them all would take a novel). I didn’t address all of them, but it’s late and I think you have a better understanding of who I am and what I believe. I believe in helping others if they need a hand, but not indefinitely. I believe welfare has destroyed incentive. I believe in free market principles. I believe in our Constitution. You may not like it, in fact, I’m sure you don’t, but that’s OK.

We must then, agree to disagree. Obama is the most radical president we’ve ever had. And if we don’t slow him down or stop him and his agenda, we will become like Cuba. Like Venezuela.

Barbara, first you start off calling people who object to Obama as “white racists” and attacking the Americans who are protesting in DC and other palces. So which is it Barbara? White people who don’t agree with Obama are racists or Bush was Satan? You’re kinda ADD about this, like most lefties. You’re deliberately ignoring or fearing admitting that a majority of Americans don’t agree with you. An incraasing number of those people are Democrats who voted for him. They are uncofmtalbe with what he’s doing too. This post is about ALL of the weasels in DC being protested not just Obama. And it not because he’s half blank/half white. You have already proved you are a racist so we can move on from there.

Obama and his administration are destroying our nation and you’re being a wacko crazy person attacking GW Bush and Cheney and your unproven conspiracy theories. Yawn. Tell me why you think Obama is so dreamy and perfect. He is not, and the polls are massacreing him as more people wake up to his racialism.

Looks like their little white heads are expoloding cause a black dude is President. And this black dude seems to be a lot smarter than their whtie Republican legislators. Get a grip folks.

Now in this second post, you’re sounding like you actually graduated high school! Someone else wrote this for you, unless you had a stroke of genius out of nowhere. But it’s wackadoodle ranting and has NOTHING to do with the Washington DC protest.

I’m not a racist, Barbara, but based on the bigotted statement you wrote above, not only are you a raging liberal racist, but a misinformed ignorant one. I hope you haven’t given birth to any children, because they are doomed to follow in your ignorant footsteps.

Why don’t you read LImbaugh or Coulter or Levin or Rove? Afraid that you’d learn about the increasing lies the statists in Washington are telling and that would shatter your “hope and change” dream?

Admin, the reason I brought up the fact that Republicans have ruled for 12 years is that when Barack Obama became President in January of 2009, he took over the worst economy since the Great Depression. Not to mention that world opinion against us was at an all time low too. Just those 2 reasons ought to get this conversation going again.

  13. fuji says:

Barbara, I did not say you were a lesbian. here is what I wrote. Read it carefully.

“You can content yourself with watching soap operas or nagging your husband/boyfriend/lesbian lover/whatever or eating Dove ice cream bars or whatever else you spend your days doing that are petty, you focusing on things that don’t matter to your own liberty.”

I was trying to cover all bases in an effort of fairness. If I had said just your husband, you’d be upset if you weren’t ever married or were divorced. If I had just said your boyfriend, you’d be upset because I assumed you weren’t married. If I had left out lesbian lover, and you were a lesbian, you’d be upset because I assumed you were hetero. I threw in whatever to cover any thing else I forgot. Liberals are so thin skinned, I was actualy trying to cover whatever it is that you are besides being a liberal peabrain. I don’t care what you are in the bedroom, just what you are as an American. But instead of reading everything of substance you grab onto lesbian lover and twist it and can’t even read the message correcly. I repeat: i didn’t say you were a lesbian.

Funny tho how you focused more on the lesbian lover part than the ‘nagging’ part or watching soap operas or eating ice cream instead of getting involved in saving America from socialism. I have a number of gay friends and one of my favorite bloggers is a conservative lesbian. I never assume someones sex preference based on their love of Obama or his spread the wealth/rob from eveyrone socialism. It doesn’t matter to me if someon’ts gay or not, like it doesn’t matter to most conservatives. It does matter to some, just like it does to many liberals and nonpolitical people. That has nothing to do with our patriotism. I think your uncomfortable with your lack of involvement an d are tyring to change the subject by getting upset over something that was pretty unimportant in my comment.

  14. Barbara Beneitone says:

Fuji, Wow! Thiis is what I said, “Sorry to disappoint Fuji that I am not a lesbian either”. Eleven 11, words. and look at the 1/2 page ad on conservatives and sexual orientation. Come on Fuji, we know most conservatives think you can pray away gay and do not support same sex marriage. Please, lets have some intellectual honesty here. I know this is the wrong place for it so it you want intellectual honesty come on over to the liberal blogs.

And why are you not discussing any of the facts that I have cited on this blog? There’s plenty of them. And you can even go to snopes, factcheck.org, fact or fiction…..please that is your homework. I have let you know in every post how I feel about my country and its constitution and how aware I am that if you don’t want to repeat the same mistakes, you remember the past and its effect on our country and have factual historical content to back it up. You people seem to excuse every single thing the Republicans did to this country the last 12 years and try to blame Obama!! It is incredible!! You are definitely from the United States of Amnesia.

By the way, China now owns us and it was the Republicans and Bush who sold the farm to them and put the wars on a credit card owing China.

Do you like the brave new plan Obama put out today regarding holding China responsible for their end of the bargain regarding manufacturing and trade? Obama will bring jobs back to this country….Dems are the labor movement. The unions created the middle class and your leadership destroyed it. Good job folks. Detroit thanks you, steel thanks you, copper thanks you, textile mills thanks you….oh hell, everyone thanks you.

Barb, you have been blinded by misinformation.

Stand back, observe what is happening around you.
Think outside of the box, be objective, not subjective.

I have no idea where you’re from, and couldn’t care less. (I assume you’re American).

Why the diatribe against a conservative, patriotic blog?
Are you folks (libs) losing your base, which could be attributed to jealousy of the right wing resurgence under the most left wing, radical administration in the history of this country ?

Are you angry Barb, that you are not getting your way now ?

Are you aware of ACORN, what they do, and how corrupt they are.

Stay tuned, although you may be disappointed with the results.

      Well said.

AFVET, I’ve now banned Barbara because her last two attempts to post again didn’t follow the rules, and frankly, I’ve bent them more for her than anyone else I have in a very long time. That’ll teach me, huh? LOL – she can go to any other lib site she wants and they will welcome her hateful, anti-Bush attacks and pro-socialism idiocy, but not here.

Conservatives need to feel that they are not bombarded here in the same way they are in the TV media and in the press. My blog, my rules. This is a refuge, a patriotic gathering of all races, religions, united by the collective ideologies of our founding fathers.

I’m tired of explaining to these statist morons that they need to stop saying “What about Bush????” like idiotic brainless parrots and take a look at the actions and agenda of Obama. Bush is no longer president and the problems we are facing today are being attributed by economists as Obama’s fault.

Most don’t care, they want to blame Bush because then they don’t have to analyze Obama… a few are waking up, though. For this reason, I have faith in America.
      :)

I know people like Barbara. Sad how they are so brainwashed by hateful leftwing statists who started flinging mud at Sarah Palin the same day she was nominated by McCain. Statists who are hypocritically demanding Joe Wilson’s head for saying “You lie” in a moment of passion, but think it’s funny when Wanda Sykes makes a joke in the White House about RushLimbaugh dying of cancer. Why are their hearts so black? Why are they so miserable when they have the president they wanted? Liberals are rarely ever happy for any length of time. They expect to be provided for, catered to, cajoled, entertained by others. They are like unruly children, spoiled brats, who tire of each shiny object given to them quickly, and always want something more, something else. They are the most miserable people I have ever known. My mother is a Democrat, and she has been like this all her life. I am blessed that I escaped her brainwashing that there is some kind of nobility to be a complainer, to be a victim, to be unhappy.

No facts, all theories, hateful beyond words. They call you racist when they are racist. They call you stupid when they themselves ignore historical facts, ignore established history. They sound like bumper stickers. When faced with thoughtful information that has been proven through out history, they stick their fingers in their ears, call you names even louder, and again, remind you that you MUST be a racist. They rule their lives by their emotions, I’m guessing that is why they always bring up Bush when Obama is criticized. They can’t fathom how they can agree with a conservative that Obama is making mistakes left and right and is a socialist. So they dig into something from three years ago and say “well, what about what Bush did?” Stupid and sad. I think of people getting arrested for crimes. Where would our cities be if a cop said “what about what Dahmer did?” or “what about what McVeigh did?” when arresting a murderer or investigating a murder? Would they let them go because they thought a murderer from a few years ago did the same thing or worse. Of course not. They don’t ever do that. Each person is judged by his actions by our laws. LIberals are unable or have a really difficult time to be able to objectively judge Obama or admit he’s wrong, so they think of a way they can turn your attention away to show how someone else like Bush is also imperfect. Makes no sense but every liberal I know does this. Barbara did this a lot in her comments. Not once or twice but a lot. It’s called denial.

Barbara and her loony leftwing extremist hatemongers are in the minority, thank God. I have faith that we can ignore them to accomplish what we must to keep Obama’s health care from passing. Any thing else he passes can be undone, although with a lot of pain. Health care will not be that way. It’s like trying to eliminate Medicaid or Social Security. Entitlement programs that people must pay into with taxes cannot be expected after paying into it all their lives to suddenly not use it. Not logical or fair.

Thnaks for letting me vent. People like Barbara are obviously deeply troubled and unhappy, so she needs your pity and your prayers.
