The Maryland Attorney General has made noise about prosecuting the intrepid journalists who undercovered the misdeeds of ACORN employees. Perhaps he should focus instead on how ACORN was able to operate without a license in his state.
Unbelievable… the MSM is bending over backwards to seem clueless and barely interested about the exploding ACORN child prostitution scandal.
If indeed Charlie Gibson, anchor of ABC World News, IS this clueless about the ACORN scandal after nearly a week of exposés, I’d say he’s not earning his six- or seven-figure salary. Give a rookie journalist intern the job for 1/1000th his salary… way to drop the ball, Charlie.

An off topic question Vicki- How do you get that list of great links at the end of your blogs? I always want to link to you and other great blogs on a topic but I don’t know how to get that kind of list like you have without spending a lot of time. Is it generated automatically for you?

You’re so kind… nope, they’re not automatically generated. I have a running list of about 75 sites I constantly browse and research. I hand-code EVERY one of those bloody links. You may notice that they are repeated in different posts – sometimes, I just do major cut and paste jobs if the topic is similar and I’m low on time (because of demands made at my REAL job and with my family… LOL). I also have the NYT alert on my computer at work so I am always getting quickie updates on news items. I was able to have a Patrick Swayze memorial post done and uploaded in just 5 or 10 minutes because of my NYT alert. I searched for other blog posts to link to… crikey, I was one of the first bloggers to have anything on it! Now today, there are plenty to choose from, but not right after the news item went out. I’ve had great luck with increased traffic as a result of being a little bit faster on the draw with breaking news. Sometimes, I fail, but it all balances out.
You’re right, it DOES take a lot of time (but I’ve gotten really fast with function buttons and I toggle back and forth with Notepad open, which is where I drop the links until I have a satisfactory number to paste into the post). I also keep adding links for a few days as I find more sites that have relevant or unique story angles that are related.
I considered installing one of those widgets that does it automatically, but I closely analyzed blogs that use them. The software seems to lack a lot of intuitive functioning, and I’d be afraid that a key word in a Daily Kos or other anti-conservative site would be included in the links on my site. Many, I’ve also noticed, are from a year or more ago and really aren’t relevant. So, I scrutinize my favorite blogs and major news sources (go to Drudge Reports a few times a day, when possible) all very quickly at least twice a week, sometimes more frequently. With my fave sites, I just fly through the latest posts to see what dovetails with my most recent posts, read it fast, and decide whether or not to include the link. Not an exact science. I also Google a lot and go into WordPress to find lesser known blogs. Sometimes, I find a cool article that I can’t use or link to, so I have a bunch of draft posts where I store them until a later date. I hate when I can’t find something a few weeks after I read it, especially if it would be a perfect link or reference. You know how everyone has a “junk drawer” in their kitchen for small things you may someday need? Well, I have “junk drafts.” LOL
OKAY!!! You at least found an easy way to access these great links. I found it would take me three hours to link to all these sites, the way I knew how. LOL
This explains things easier for me so I can at least link to sites like yours and others that are so good.
