ObamaCare in the Toilet: Rising Number of Americans Don’t Want ObamaCare… Snowe Backs Out, Axelrod Stressed Out
Posted By Vicki McClure Davidson on September 16, 2009
With each passing week, the number of Americans who are opposed to government-run health care increases. Per a new Rasmussen Poll, now 55% oppose it… a record high. Disapproval has jumped 3 percentage points since last week.
Guess the American public was unmoved by The One’s low-on-facts, high-on-hype speech for health care last week. On the other hand, Rep. Joe Wilson of South Carolina, from what I’ve heard, may have now received as much as TWO MILLION DOLLARS in campaign contributions. I heard this on my local FOX TV news last night, and am still looking for a major news source for corroboration. If he isn’t at that number, he’s getting close.
From Rasmussen Reports: Opposition to Health Care Reform Reaches New High at 55%
One week after President Obama’s speech to Congress, opposition to his health care reform plan has reached a new high of 55%. The latest Rasmussen Reports daily tracking poll shows that just 42% now support the plan, matching the low first reached in August.
A week ago, 44% supported the proposal and 53% were opposed. Following the speech last Wednesday night intended to relaunch the health care initiative, support for the president’s effort bounced as high as 51% (see day-by-day numbers). But the new numbers suggest that support for health care reform is now about the same as it was in August.
Seventy-four percent (74%) of Democrats now support the plan while 80% of Republicans are opposed. Among those not affiliated with either major party, 67% are opposed.
Even RINO Olympia Snowe from Maine now won’t support it. Obama’s chief political adviser David Axelrod is cluelessly under the impression that America WANTS this atrocity.
Dream on, Davey.
From The Hill:
Snowe falls away, leaving Senate Dems without GOP support on healthcare
September 15, 2009Senate Democrats are going to have to move forward on healthcare without a single Republican supporter after Sen. Olympia Snowe said Tuesday she could not back the Finance Committee’s bill.
Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) failed to win any Republican backer despite weeks of intense negotiations behind closed doors to strike a deal.
Snowe (Maine), who was one of three Republicans who backed the $787 billion economic stimulus package, was being lobbied heavily by the White House, and some centrists view her refusal to strike a deal with Baucus as troubling. But concerns about how the plan would be paid for prompted her to back away in the hours before its release.
“I do have concerns and I’m not sure they can be addressed before he issues [legislation] tomorrow,” Snowe said.
Faced with the prospect of having to pass legislation without Republican votes, Obama’s chief political adviser David Axelrod met with Senate and House Democrats on Tuesday to stress the importance of party unity on healthcare reform — a message most directly aimed at centrists who now are critical to its passage.
Democrats control 59 seats in the Senate. Without a single Republican vote, they would be forced to advance healthcare using a budgetary maneuver that requires only a simple majority.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said Tuesday that Democrats are prepared to use budget reconciliation as a last resort.
“We’ve always had a place at the table for Republicans. There’s one there today. We hope it bears fruit,” he said. “If we can’t get the 60 votes we need, then we’ll have no alternative but to use reconciliation.”
Axelrod told senators that passing healthcare reform would give them a boost in the 2010 midterm election, according to a person who attended the meeting.
Axelrod also said that polls showed that public disapproval over Democratic reform proposals — which swelled in June and July — leveled off during the month of August, despite the publicity attracted by conservative protests, said another source in the meeting.
Axelrod’s speech seemed aimed at Democratic centrists who are concerned about the failure to attract Snowe.
Important reading about the increasing of taxes for the middle class and “temporary entitlements” that taxpayers fund and that are never temporary, from Michelle Malkin: Another shining example of Obama “efficiency”. Quick blurb:
Another number to watch: 13 percent. That’s the share of family income that the Baucus plan envisions middle-class American families having to pay in health insurance premiums before co-payments, deductibles and other cost-sharing.
Frightening reality check from Pundit & Pundette this morning:
Healthcare without doctors? How would that work?
It wouldn’t. Democrat healthcare reforms could have cataclysmic effects on patient care.
According to an Investors Business Daily poll, a whopping two-thirds of physicians polled are opposed to the current proposals and a frightening 45% would consider leaving medicine if the changes were implemented.
This means that the inevitable rationing that will result with the Dem reforms would likely be much worse than anticipated…

Bonsai !!
An informed constituency is an awesome weapon against the propaganda being wielded against the true Americans that know how to express their 1st Amendment rights in Washington last weekend.
Obama is in over his head, and he knows it.
Obama’s constant speeches on health care is ruining his ability to “inspire the hope and change America wants”.
Like watching the same sitcom over and over, again and again.
Thanks Vicki for your efforts to keep us informed.
God Bless the USA !
