You ignored that I wrote that if this WAS used for legitimate purposes outlined in the grant, that would be fine and dandy. But with ACORN's escalating corruption being exposed, of bold-faced lies and efforts to take over the entire state of Oklahoma being uncovered, me speculating that there is a likelihood that this grant was not used properly carries significant water. But you go right ahead and defend ACORN, if that makes you feel better.

Be sure that you also contact Washington, DC, because members of Congress, too, see this as a problem.

From Sen. Vitter:
"With fire departments all over Louisiana – and the rest of the country – struggling to make ends meet and get the equipment and training they need to protect their local communities, the idea of a million dollar grant going to ACORN is unsettling, to say the least.

I’ve had grave reservations about ACORN for some time, and over the past year we’ve seen numerous examples of serious allegations of wrongdoing on the part of this organization and its employees across the country. I simply can’t see the logic behind diverting much needed funding from worthy fire departments to this organization."

Actually, FP&S grants are for education purposes, not actual firefighting. If you look on FEMA's website, or specifically, www.firegrantssupport.com/fps , you'll see that ACORN could have legitimately used the funds for awareness campaigns in the "high risk populations" they serve. Directly from the site, it reads:

The primary goal is to target high-risk populations and mitigate high incidences of death and injury. Examples of the types of projects supported by FP&S include fire prevention and public safety education campaigns, juvenile firesetter interventions, media campaigns, and arson prevention and awareness programs.

Please do your research before publicly speculating about illegitimate use of federal funds.
