Conservative Craziness Wins Ratings… Gutfeld and His Gang on “Red Eye” at 3 am Beat Out CNN at 8 pm, Plus Some Deserved Olbermann Mocking (video)

More pain for liberal media TV viewer numbers… those numbers are dropping down the commode like you-know-what after a cowboy bean dinner.
Conservative political comedy, (and, might I add, conservative non-fiction book sales), are exploding, if this update on late-late-late-night Red Eye is any indication:

Fox News’ 3am ET comedy/news hybrid Red Eye is in a league of its own when it comes to cable news shows. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t a player in the ratings.
Despite its late (or early, depending on your sleep habits) start time, the ratings for the show continue to improve, and surprisingly, top some cable news competition you might not expect.
Last week we were forwarded this message board post on ActivityPit.com – Red Eye’s online community that feeds its dedicated base of fans. Here’s a part:
The ratings came out for September and Red Eye is up over 30% in total viewers and up 50% in the key demo (25-54) since July. They have more overall viewers than every CNBC show, every MSNBC show that is on before Hardball, most of HLN, and American Morning on CNN.
Most of us working Joes and Janes are fast asleep at 3 am. But you may want to set your VCR or DVR to video-preserve some of the biting conservative wackiness dished up by the adorable frat-pack leader Greg Gutfeld and his rotating cast of brilliantly funny panelists. Fun-fun stuff for irreverent conservatives. As is reading Gutfeld’s blog, The Daily Gut. The site’s subtitled, “A handkerchief of hard news soaked in a sneeze of thought snot,” which pretty much says it all.
It hasn’t always been easy for Red Eye to achieve its ratings, but perseverance, quality writing, intelligent and witty conservative guest panelists, and a growing conservative awareness in our nation has pushed the show’s viewership up. While researching, I found this heartfelt piece pitching the show when it was struggling and a petition to keep it on the air. This was uploaded waaay back in 2007. Here’s a bit of it (check it out for the great photos).

This makes the show almost unwatchable because it comes on so late where I live on the West Coast (let’s not even talk about those unlucky enough to live on the East Coast, they’re getting it really bad)…

Greg Gutfeld has spent a lifetime in the media industry, and he has the stories to prove it. Beginning his career in magazines, he traversed a career path through various publications from the US to the UK, from Prevention (while smoking heavily) to Stuff (where he hired several little people to cause a commotion and create buzz at the 2003 Magazine Publishers of America conference). He’s a published author, with his newest book, Lessons From the Land of Pork Scratchings, detailing his time in England (and now out in paperback). He’s a regular blogger at The Daily Gut, his own site, and formerly of The Huffington Post. But the shock jock of the magazine world’s current gig may be the most surprising — host of Red Eye, on Fox News Channel. The program, airing weeknights at 3 a.m., allows Gutfeld and his varied cast of characters to discuss the news in a way unseen in any other arena. It’s the counter-est of counter-programming, but 300 shows in, Red Eye’s still going strong, providing an outlet for Gutfeld’s brand of humor, bar chat atmosphere, and a place for FNC anchors including Julie Banderas, Alan Colmes, and Brian Kilmeade, to show a different side of their personalities.
So many excellent Red Eye shows from which to choose and embed here, so I’ve settled on a few classic clips that poke good-natured fun at MSNBC’s unhinged left-wing extremist Keith Olbermann. He DESERVES mocking, and who, by the way, unlike many conservative talk show hosts and pundits, has not, to my recollection, ever had a conservative on his show. Ah, the stench of fear must be strong for Olby…
Red Eye’s viewership numbers also surpass those of the deranged Olbermann’s, and he’s on the air when most of America is awake, ha ha.

This final Red Eye clip is from May (no Olby in this one), and features Andrew Breitbart before he became the gigantic household name he now is within conservative circles because of his bold posting on his new Big Government site of the James O’Keefe’s videos exposing ACORN corruption. It also features Pamela Gellar, whose blog Atlas Shrugs I love. Main topic of discussion was the despicable DHS report on right-wing extremists.
