Heat Is On: Attacks on Rush Limbaugh for NFL St. Louis Rams Bid (video) (updated)
Posted By Vicki McClure Davidson on October 13, 2009
The controversy about conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh being a partner in bidding on purchase of the St. Louis Rams, the reportedly most liberal football team in the NFL, grows. And the discrimination demanded by liberal black leaders, Democrat politicians, and statist hypocrites against Limbaugh also grows… the heat is on.

Sharpton, Jackson attack Limbaugh’s Rams bid

October 13, 2009ST. LOUIS — The Revs. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson attacked the bid by Rush Limbaugh to buy the St. Louis Rams on Monday, saying the conservative radio host’s track record on race should exclude him from owning an NFL team. Sharpton sent a letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, arguing that Limbaugh has been divisive and “anti-NFL” in some of his comments.
Jackson said in a telephone interview that Limbaugh had made his wealth “appealing to the fears of whites” with an unending line of insults against blacks and other minorities.
“The National Football League has set high standards for racial justice and inclusion,” Jackson said. “He should not have the privilege of owning an NFL franchise — and it is a privilege.” The civil rights leader said he’s had contact with numerous players and ex-players concerned about the bid.
Limbaugh shot back at Sharpton on his radio show.
“Now, this saddens me as well this disappoints me,” he said. “I know Rev. Sharpton. Sharpton is better than this. He knows better than this. You know, I didn’t judge Al Sharpton’s fitness to be in radio when he wanted to earn an honest living for once, given his well-documented past as the author of the Tawana Brawley hoax. I believe in freedom and I also don’t discriminate.”
Limbaugh said last week that he is teaming up with St. Louis Blues hockey team owner Dave Checketts in a bid to buy the Rams. He has declined to discuss details of the offer, citing a confidentiality agreement.
I can’t recall in recent memory any “white” groups demanding that a black be denied purchasing any sports team, nor any white team players being applauded by the media or religious leaders for refusing to play on a team owned by a minority. That kind of hateful discrimination would not be tolerated.
While left-wingers love to say Rush Limbaugh is a racist, truth be told, there is no evidence of this. Instead, there is distorted reporting and sound bites taken out of context (remember the deliberate hatchet job the Democrat party did during the elections on what Limbaugh said last year about Hispanics?), and blatant lies. I’ve listened to Limbaugh for ages, and NEVER has he uttered a racist comment. He may speak more openly than others are comfortable with, may be more provocative than leftists want him to be (although, just listening to left-wing maniac Keith Olbermann rant for five minutes makes Limbaugh sound like a choir boy), but he is no racist.
On the other hand, Limbaugh refuses to give anyone a free pass or excuse their lack of performance because of their skin color. In other words, if you screw up or break the law, black or white, Limbaugh will call you on it. Not on your color or your ancestry, but on your character and performance.
As it should be.
Because this is America.

So much for the “peaceful utopia” of “we love the world” hypocrisy of liberals… Chris Matthews is despicable. Tell me the last time a conservative on television EVER said he or she had a fantasy, while grinning insanely, about a liberal being killed whose sorry butt wasn’t fired immediately from the deserved outcry? I’d be outraged no matter who said it, as I am with this… but it’s just okey-dokey fun over at MSNBC.
H/t to Ed Driscoll for the Matthews video linked to his piece, Another Day, Another MSNBC Assassination Fantasy:
MSNBC Chris Matthews Fantasizes About Someone Killing Rush Limbaugh | October 2009
A NewsBusters observation on the video:
That closing “are you watching, Rush?” was the giveaway. Matthews, whose anemic ratings trail even Rachel Maddow’s in the MSNBC line-up, is desperately hoping someone—anyone—is watching. And if it takes publicly fantasizing about the violent death of a political opponent, well, all’s apparently fair in love and ratings in Matthews’ mind.
Let us not forget that from the very early days of the Obama administration, the White House made it well known that they were going to attack Rush Limbaugh because of his lack of support of Barack Obama’s socialist agenda. And for a number of weeks, using taxpayer dollars, they smeared and bullied and maligned him. They have also singled out Glenn Beck and Whole Foods, using boycott thuggery (we miss you, Van Jones), name-calling, and scare tactics.
The heat is on. Not just on Limbaugh and Beck, but on all conservatives who dare speak up and refuse to accept the dictates of this socialist administration. The liberal “smear merchants” and statist thugs are gearing up…

While you can claim the Limbaugh is not “racist,” because that can be considered somewhat subjective, the fact is that Limbaugh is guilty of race baiting. Objectively looking at Limbaugh’s statements, one can honestly say that he has made race an issue in order to spark anger, or incite a negative reaction. Here are but a few quotes:
“In Obama’s America white kids now get beat up with black kids cheering, ‘Yeah! Right on, right on!’” (even the kid who got beat up said it wasn’t about race)
“When is the last time Gen. Powell endorsed a white liberal for president?”
“This whole election [2008] was based on race.”
You’re taking his words out of context, which isn’t unexpected. A huge number of people voted for Obama, yet knew nothing about his philosophies, his background as a Senator, his lack of accomplishments, his suspicious alliances with William Ayers et al., etc… they wanted to vote for him solely for the historical significance of voting for a black man. They were ignorant of his qualifications, his education, and his character and were quite happy to remain ignorant. Believe me, in those early days, I too wanted to want Obama. And I’ll be very honest. It was largely because he was a minority. I was proud of our country for looking past skin color and selecting a man based on his qualifications.
Then, when it appeared he would get the Democrat nod, I did research on this Senator from Illinois. A lot of research. And I was sickened by what I found. A tremendous lacking in qualifications and a questionable background. A socialist mentality. A hypocrisy in what he said and what he did that would have been exposed, I believe, if he had been a non-minority.
I hung on to support Obama for months, then realized I was being a reverse racist… I wanted to vote for him because he wasn’t white. I wanted him to be what he wasn’t. He didn’t support America as I thought a president should, didn’t feel the Constitution was to be followed as written, didn’t support the success of free market principles and citizens’ freedoms that made our nation great. And I suddenly realized I could not ever vote for this man, despite my deep-felt desire to do so. And while I didn’t embrace McCain and his RINO tendencies, I voted more for Palin than I did for him when I hit the election voting booth.
The sentiment surrounding the 2008 election was largely based on Obama’s race, and much of his current support appears to be… at least, according to most everyone on the left who have said a million times that not voting for Obama or not following his mandates is racist. Non-black Americans are being called racists by Democrat congressional leaders every week. Even ranting left-wing darling Janeane Garofalo has said that those against Obama’s agenda, and most especially all conservatives, are racist. Racists are those who disagree with the president? That to me is a reverse racism ideology.
So, in response to your comment, I don’t believe Rush is a race baiter. He is bringing to the forefront the race issues that few will. Talking about racial discrimination, support of Obama because of his color, and reverse racism is NOT race baiting. Yes, I agree, he becomes passionate about his beliefs. He is an entertainer and speaking in quiet tones will never get listenership. But I do not believe for one moment that he believes that blacks are inferior nor that whites should be given preferential treatment. While you’re allowed to believe that he uses race issues to “spark anger,” I believe he does it to spark discussion and to promote deeper thinking. And this should not have any bearing on whether or not he buys an NFL team.
Most of the power-grabbing nonsense going on right now in Washington is being ignored by the fringe media. Do I think it has to do with Obama’s race? I have no idea, but never has there been such a lack of transparency before in our White House and the mass media has chosen to either ignore or be partisan about its coverage.
