Dem leader Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, who confirms that she is “a firm believer in the First Amendment,” wants Limbaugh banned from NFL.
It’s just not right that smeared conservatives can buy things.
I live in Arizona and am still fairly new to political/social commentary blogging, so I’ve not yet memorized all the Senators or the House of Representatives in our nation. I’m working on it.
However, whenever I hear the name “Sheila Jackson Lee,” I immediately know who “Queen Sheila” is. She’s that rude politician from Texas who took a cell phone call while conducting an ObamaCare town hall meeting (yes, she did).
She’s that liberal wacko who proposed a Michael Jackson something-or-another bill on the House floor (yes, she did).
She’s the congresswoman who hugged a bona fide Obama-grassroots-support organizer posing as a medical doctor during a town hall meeting (there seems to be speculation that Sheila did know the woman from previous encounters and knew she was not a doctor, but that’s still not yet been proven).
And now, Queen Sheila, forgetting once again that she’s a servant of the American people representing a district in Texas, is demanding that the NFL disqualify Rush Limbaugh from partially owning a football team because she doesn’t like his conservatism. She wants the NFL to put “ownership standards” in place, whatever in the heck that means. Limbaugh is not a convicted felon for dog fighting (hello, Michael Vick!) nor a tax evader (hello, Tom Daschle, Tim Geithner, and Charles Rangel!) nor a pedophile nor any other kind of criminal… he has done nothing that would prevent him from legally buying the team. And, just curious here, when was the last time an elected member of Congress cared so much about the sports industry?
So these nebulous “ownership standards” she is demanding is not because of violation of any laws. Ownership by entertainers is fine, since singer Fergie of the Black-Eyed Peas has recently been pre-approved for partial ownership of the Miami Dolphins football team, which is also partially owned by Jimmy Buffett, Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez, Gloria Estefan, and Venus and Serena Williams (the same Serena Williams who publicly spewed a bleepable foul-mouthed tirade at a line judge last month, and allegedly threatened the tennis judge serious bodily harm, all for calling Williams on a foot fault). Nelly, Usher, and Jay-Z are part owners of different NBA teams.
Jackson Lee’s stance smacks of partisan discrimination, and it could also be racially motivated (although I am only thinking out loud on that). Per Jackson Lee, only liberals can own football teams because they meet her idea of “ownership standards.” And even though Limbaugh has a background in sports broadcasting (which I don’t think Jennifer Lopez nor Fergie does) and a deep, well-known passion for football, Jackson Lee wants him disqualified because she doesn’t like his politics and thinks he’s doing it only for the money… like the other investors/owners have no interest in making a profit.
Utter nonsense. A liberal witch hunt.

I didn’t know that in AMERICA that elected officials are now allowed to loudly lobby to ban or be prejudiced against ANYONE from pursuing the American dream. What would happen if Republicans were to now take the podium and denounce the liberal politics of Democrat sports team owners while preventing others to buy partnerships?
In Sheila’s statist, “silence the opposition” world, if you’re a conservative, she can discard the Constitution and Bill of Rights at will. Honest debate with this woman would be like trying to reason with a cat caught out in the rain.
This is NOT our America, Sheila… it is not OK for an elected servant of the people to stand in front of a mic on the House floor and demand that a private citizen be demonized and blocked from buying something with his own money just because he is not in your political party and doesn’t share your views on government handouts and overtaxing American citizens.
This is so full of crap, Queen Sheila should be run out of town on a rail.
Here’s a bit of the statist nonsense that Rep. Jackson Lee spewed in her House address to bar Limbaugh from NFL team ownership:
He does not represent the fullness of appreciation of athletes of all diverse backgrounds no matter what he wants to pretend to say on his radio station. But he is one who is divisive just as they’re about to select him as a judge for a Miss America contest. I can’t understand that, but that is their choice. Maybe they think he’ll bring in millions of listeners, but can you imagine a poor girl scared already to be able to ask a question about the person she admires most, and she says somebody that happens to be a different political affiliation. She is, of course, not a winner. But that’s their decision.
Sheila, knock off the phony-baloney “boo-hoo concern” for “poor little girl” beauty queens. Rush Limbaugh is not a deranged monster and if you ever listened to his show, you’d know that he’s objective and compassionate. Additionally, I doubt he would gleefully set up a “gotcha question” like that nasty piece of garbage, celeb-bashing gay blogger Perez Hilton did earlier this year when he was a judge of the Miss America pageant. In a later interview, Hilton confessed that he had hoped that his gay marriage question would be answered by Miss Utah… he was hoping to bring attention to the Mormon Church’s financing of the Yes on Prop. 8 campaign. He’s confessed to his blatant, left-wing, pre-meditated political motivation to embarrass any of the beauty contestants while sitting on the panel as a judge. What a worm.
But he was thrilled to be able to attack conservative Miss California instead and bragged about giving her a “zero” for her response on gay marriage. I don’t recall Queen Sheila speaking out even ONCE when Hilton attacked and vilified conservative Carrie Prejean (in fact, he still attacks her with foul language on occasion on his blog). Does the congresswoman defend only Democrat contestants or only those who are minorities? I ask because it’s damn obvious she doesn’t defend white conservative Christian contestants when they are thug-attacked like Prejean was and still is.
And just how much does Jimmy Buffet “appreciate” the “fullness of appreciation of athletes of all diverse backgrounds”? How is that even quantifiable, for heaven sakes? Jackson Lee wants much more scrutiny performed on a conservative buying a football team with his own money than the White House exhibited when choosing 9/11 Truther radical Van Jones to work, with sensitive, high-level security clearance, in our government.
Get real, Sheila… you liberals do not get to run the whole country and we are not your puppets, no matter what you may think.
I love the spirit of Texas and its people with their no-nonsense spines of steel and common sense values. Vote this ignorant, left-wing nutbar woman out, Texas!

Hmmm. So sports aren’t about the dollar? Then why do athletes make more in a year than most Americans will in their entire lives? And why do companies spend so much to advertise during games?
And what about her comment that sports are about “looking at values that are not political?” Isn’t that EXACTLY what the Congresswoman did on the House floor Tuesday — look at Limbaugh’s values that ARE political?
Indeed, this entire issue has become political because Limbaugh represents conservatism, and the Left along with their media minions just can’t stand it.
As a result this battle has a long way to go; folks better stock up on peanuts, popcorn, and Cracker Jacks if they REALLY want to enjoy the show.
Does anyone understand why African-American leaders across America are calling Rush a racist?
Allow me: since the election of Barack Obama it seems that Blacks around the country have an open forum for calling white people “racists” who disagree with the politics of hopenchange. Our “post-racial” America has become a hotbed of unfounded racial slurs and slander by Blacks.
Rush is threatening to take legal action against the liberal media who are slandering him with their smear attacks and lies… bravo for him! I suggest that he also consider including the disgraceful Queen Sheila in that lawsuit as well.

The elites in Washington contend that they can do that to us, the American People.
In their arrogance (the elites) have no concept of the intelligence of the people that will vote in the next election.
Their efforts to dumb us down, and withhold information from us, consistently, will be their downfall.

I doubt (at least, I hope not) that Queen Sheila speaks for most of the people in Texas… I have always found Texans to be among the most level-headed, intelligent, patriotic people I’ve ever met. This smear job on Rush Limbaugh is detestable… no evidence, no proof, just a bunch of concocted garbage floating around.

Yes, I totally agree – but since this post was about the liberals’ vicious smear job on Rush Limbaugh’s bid for the NFL, including Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee’s appalling, demonizing plea to the NFL to ban conservative Limbaugh from pursuing the purchase of the St. Louis Rams, I focused just on that in my reply comment.
The statist garbage is flying in all directions from the windows from so many of these liberal weasels, it’s too much to cover in each post without writing a bloody novel (LOL). So, I must focus on one issue, comment, move to another, comment, etc. Thank goodness I’m pretty good at multi-tasking. I think some conservative bloggers are starting to burn out from trying to keep up with all that is going on in Washington, DC these days. Some days, I know how they feel, it’s so overwhelming.
Allowing elected members of our Congress, servants of the people, to willfully attack and malign private citizens from the House floor is irresponsible and is soft tyranny, which leads to hard tyranny. Freedoms taken away rarely are returned. We can’t let Queen Sheila’s attacks become acceptable, because otherwise, we will become Venezuela or Cuba with dictators and no Constitution to protect our inherent rights. Rush Limbaugh has been denounced by a member of Congress based soley on his conservative politics, statist lies, and rumors. That’s how gradualism starts.
Yes, Rangel, Dodd, Frank, Pelosi, and so many others must be held accountable for their despicable actions. Voting them out and keeping an eye on the others (including most Republicans, who are not all angels, either) is imperative.

While I agree with pretty much everything that was said, there was one portion that bothered me.

This is where I will draw a line with you. Not every black person is touting unfounded racial slurs and it bothers me that you would allow that statement on a pretty decent site. I’m sorry, maybe that’s not what you intended to portray, but that’s how it came across- at least to me. Again, while I agree with everything else said (especially about Ms. Jackson being wrong in her actions against Rush), there have been plenty of white people throwing out the race card (former Pres. Carter to be the latest) as well. I just hope you would take my constructive criticism to heart. Yes, there will be blacks- and whites- that disagree with our conservative way of life. However, there are just as many blacks, whites, latinos, asians and others who agree with what we believe. We must not give sure footing to the opposition to let them stand upon.

You bring up an excellent point, Chermone. The author of that statement from The ConservativeXpress blog was writing in inaccurate, broad generalities, and should have narrowed it down. Instead of painting a broad picture using just the term “blacks,” which makes it sound like all blacks are using racial slurs and slander (which they are not doing), it would have been more accurate for him or her to have qualified it, should have instead said “some blacks” or “a number of blacks” and not left it as just “blacks.”
You are absolutely correct – not all blacks have done this, in fact, I’d say not a majority have done so, and there are many whites (you correctly cited Jimmy Carter) who have been just as guilty of wildly throwing around racial slurs and slander. However, high-profile black leaders, Rev. Al Sharpton and Rev. Jesse Jackson to name but two, have been actively fanning the fires, not just on this Rush Limbaugh incident, but a number of other ones. From their rhetoric, a number of African-Americans are being convinced/influenced that it is racism to not agree with our president or racism if a person of color is disagreed with or criticized. But by all means, this is NOT true of all blacks. Let me point out that I never said this. It is from a quote from another source, and I’d like to give the author the benefit of the doubt here, since I’ve read other postings at that site and have no reason to think this author is a racist. It looks more like an accidental omission rather than one of hostile, ignorant bigotry.
