Who saw this coming? Not me, that’s for sure. I can’t make this stuff up… more popcorn, please.

Now we’re a few days following the wild fracas at the Western CPAC in California between conservative journalist/filmmaker John Ziegler and American Conservative Union head David Keene this past weekend. Wild-wild stuff, click here if you’re clueless about all this, I’ve got all three parts of the sizzling video as well as some strong commentary against the ACU.

Raging left-wing moonbat Keith “I May Have a Stroke on the Air” Olbermann talked about it during his MSNBC slot, getting details wrong (sloppy journalism, Keith), being stupidly clueless as to what prompted the altercation between Ziegler and Keene (more sloppiness, I see a pattern emerging here), and then, for good measure, being incredibly sleazy, sexist, and lame by suggesting that Ziegler has a crush on Sarah Palin, which is why he defended her. But Olby is always sleazy and lame when he isn’t screaming (wait, he’s sleazy and lame then, too… my bad), so no surprises there.

Tommy Christopher of Mediaite interviewed John Ziegler about this Olbermann nonsense, and here’s how Ziegler surprisingly responded:

Wow. That is even more bizarre than I thought it would be.

First, if Olbermann really had ANY interest in knowing what motivated this (which he asks his not even tangential guest about several times) why didn’t he just ask me about it? If he was afraid I would destroy him in a live interview (which of course I would) why not do one on tape? If he didn’t want to give me the face time, why not at least speak to me off the air?

The real answer is that this had nothing to do with the Republican Party per se but rather a call for authenticity in the leadership of the conservative movement (those are different things). At one point Olbermann claims that I am motivated (bizarrely, moments after substantiating some of my other inquires of Keene) by “defending a crush.” For the record, my passion for defending Sarah Palin has nothing to do with any of her womanly qualities.

This may shock people, but my defense of her is not even politically based. It is motivated purely by the level of unfairness of the coverage of her. I honestly believe that I would have reacted the same way if she were ugly and a Democrat (not that it would have ever happened to her if that was the case), but I can understand why Olbermann couldn’t possibly understand such principled consistency or being motivated by something other than one’s own self interest and/or what they feel in their pants.

I will make this offer to Olbermann. If he has me on the show to debate Palin-related issues, live, for a full hour, I will pay his favorite charity $100,000, which is more than any profit I am ever likely to make from my film “Media Malpractice.” This offer is 100% real.

So, will Olbermann ignore the offer/challenge to debate Ziegler publicly for charity? Agree to it, then at the last minute, chicken out? I’m thinking, “Yes and yes.”

But Olby needs to justify his multi-million-dollar salary at MSNBC, considering the red ink bleeding from the network, so network head honchos may force him to do it as a potential ratings boost. “Anything Palin” brings in the audiences. Will keep you posted as this develops.

Sidenote… Tommy Christopher, the journalist/blogger who conducted the Ziegler interview, is a prince in my book. He’s a liberal journalist who was willing to go out on a limb and continue writing about and decrying the vile, misogynist Playboy hit piece about hate-raping ten conservative women, like Michelle Malkin, Megyn Kelly, and Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Bravo to Hasselbeck who fought back on her show The View.

Christopher was fired from his AOL position for doing so, which I wrote about in June: Public’s ‘Right to Know’ Censored: AOL Fires Writer Tommy Christopher for Reporting Sexist Hate-Rape Playboy Article. I was stunned by AOL’s determination to downplay/bury the Playboy story and Christopher’s unfair firing, as were so many of his journalism colleagues. He was following his moral compass, being true to his journalistic convictions.

Convictions. Wow. From a liberal. From a liberal JOURNALIST. A rare, rare quality indeed.

I call it as I see it. A worm, a weasel, a slime puppy, a prince. Here at Frugal Café, Tommy, you’re a prince.

Just wanted to let you know. I thought you were a class act back then, and you are a class act now. Thank you for your defense of these conservative women, which is support of all women who have been or could be rape victims of sick, despicable men.

You’re not the garden variety journalist, because the majority of them would NOT have continued to denounce Playboy and would have craftily found a way to smear and bash the innocent women on the list, rather than rightfully bash the hack writer who wrote the piece and Playboy for its disgusting endorsement of it by posting it. AOL, you’re in the gutter with the rest of the slime organizations that permit this type of outrageous hate of women to continue to perpetuate.
