New York Race: NY-23 Loves Conservative Doug Hoffman, Is Now in Lead… RINO Dede Scozzafava May Be Washed Up
Posted By Vicki McClure Davidson on October 26, 2009
Read it and weep, Dede. I embrace this deliciously fab graphic, created by fellow conservative blogger Nice Deb:
Note to Dede Scozzafava… conservatives can see through a fake every time. Your track record has been left-leaning and atrocious, and you calling the cops on a journalist for asking you a few tough questions was just plain squirrelly and petulant. Unbecoming and embarrassing. It’s too much like Team Obama for my conservative sensibilities. Millions of conservatives feel the same way. Dede, you’ve been acting like a liberal dodo for too long. Heck, if Republicans wanted a liberal in office, they’d switch over to the Democrat Party and vote for “that other Dem guy” on November 3.
One of Sarah Palin’s growing strengths is the loyalty of her nationwide followers on Facebook… which has been underestimated yet again by both Democrats and Republicans.
Following Palin’s announcement of support and endorsement last week of conservative Doug Hoffman, his approval numbers in NY-23 have rocketed, as has his campaign donations. Whatever Palin touches seems to turn to gold as of late… but the politicians in DC just don’t get it. Least of all the GOP. Let me give you morons a hint… conservatism.
To contribute to Doug Hoffman’s campaign, go here.
From Club for Growth, Hoffman Surges Into Lead in NY-23:
A poll released today by the Club for Growth shows Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman surging into the lead in the special election in New York’s 23rd congressional district to replace John McHugh, the former congressman who recently became Secretary of the Army.
The poll of 300 likely voters, conducted October 24-25, 2009, shows Conservative Doug Hoffman at 31.3%, Democrat Bill Owens at 27.0%, Republican Dede Scozzafava at 19.7%, and 22% undecided. The poll’s margin of error is +/- 5.66%…
“Hoffman now has a wide lead among both Republicans and Independents, while Owens has a wide lead among Democrats. Dede Scozzafava’s support continues to collapse, making this essentially a two-candidate race between Hoffman and Owens in the final week,” concluded Basswood Research’s pollster Jon Lerner, who conducted the poll for the Club.
From Nice Deb, Shock Poll: Hoffman Surges To Lead In NY Race:
Yes, that’s just one poll, and a small sampling, but it’s a strong indication that Hoffman is not the potential spoiler here, Scozzafava is.
From RedState, Dede Scozzafava Should Withdraw:
We know now, confirmed by multiple sources inside and outside the various campaigns, that Dede Scozzafava has fallen into third place. Her recent behavior indicates a candidate who has lost control of the message, the campaign, and any chance of winning.
The Republican National Committee had given multiple indications to the media and bloggers that it would be staying out of this race. As soon as it was duly reported, the RNC jumped in. This is a little noted fact that should be better highlighted. Frankly, the NRCC’s determination to get in and make a go of it was a more honest and credible effort than that of the RNC — still stupid, but more honest.
The NRCC has just now started spending on ads for NY-23. Our understanding is that the ads will mostly focus on attacking the Democrat. The NRCC would be wise to go that course instead of spending a dime on Dede Scozzafava…
She was always a terrible choice. In the end, she has become [a] liar, filing a false police report because a journalist dared ask a question she did not like and then using leftwing media in an attempt to smear the journalist. This campaign is a national embarrassment for the Republican Party.
From Moralia, Sarah Palin endorses Doug Hoffman:
I cannot tell you the joy with which I read that headline, via Memeorandum. Newt, digging himself in ever deeper with the party’s conservative base, reiterates his support for Dede Scozzafava.
If Doug Hoffman does defeat the GOP’s appalling nominee in the NY23 race, it just may be the wake-up call the party needs. Or maybe I’m being unduly optimistic. Maybe guys like Gingrich who just don’t get it are too deeply entrenched and the party will go on making gargantuan blunders and supporting candidates like Scozzafava.
We shall see.
From Robert Stacy McCain, NY23: Hoffman Surprised by ‘Overwhelming’ National Support:
Indeed, as endorsements have poured in — and Michelle Malkin and other conservatives have begun to demand the withdrawal of liberal Republican candidate Dede Scozzafava — the momentum in NY23 appears to have shifted decisively toward Hoffman.
Hoffman appeared this afternoon with former House Majority Leader Dick Armey at a press conference in front of the Federal Building in Syracuse, where the Conservative Party candidate endorsed the flat tax. “Even though I’m a CPA, the flat tax is the way to create an environment for economic growth,” said Hoffman, noting that simplifying the tax code would result in a substantial loss of tax-preparation business for his firm.
Armey said that Scozzafava lost the election “the day she was elected,” since her record and policy stances place her far outside the mainstream of the conservative 23rd District. Armey expressed the hope that “the Republicans will learn a lesson” from the defeat of Scozzafava.
From Michelle Malkin, WITHDRAW:
It’s time for the GOP to cut bait on radical leftist Dede Scozzafava.
