“V”: ObamaMania Metaphor Prevalent in New ABC Sci-Fi Series: Will Team Obama Try to Ban or Marginalize? (video) – UPDATE: Left-wingers Are OUTRAGED Over “V”

Posted By Vicki McClure Davidson on November 3, 2009

UPDATE, NOVEMBER 4, 2009:
This is scary… My crystal ball of left-wing predictions about “V” was working to perfection last night, gang.

The Obama-bots are on the rampage over “V” and its symbolic references to the Obama administration. All the more reason you MUST watch this new show. Unless the Obama lapdogs smack the writers into bloody submission and turn it into just another vapid “lizard of the week” sci-fi. Which would be a shame, because the fast-paced pilot with quality special effects was awesome.

From Big Hollywood: Left Lashes Out at ‘V’, Obama-Friendly ABC Purges Showrunner…

From Sci Fi Wire: V debuts with MASSIVE ratings:

V became the highest rated sci-fi premiere of the new fall TV season after 13.9 million people watched the pilot episode last night, according to preliminary ratings. That number is still subject to some change, but it looks likely that this will be the biggest show to debut at 8 p.m. since another ABC sci-fi series, Lost.

To put that in perspective, FlashForward was (until now) considered the hit of the season after 12.4 million people watched its first episode. The ratings for V are likely to grow substantially once DVR viewership is added in, since sci-fi shows tend to benefit (or suffer?) most from DVR viewing.

Morena Baccarin plays Anna, one of the mysterious alien visitors in the new ABC mini-series 'V'

I don’t typically watch ABC, but I’ll be making an exception tonight with “V.” This is yet another remake of the science-fiction mini-series and TV series “V” from the 1980s, but this new mini-series version appears edgier, creepier. And it appears, from the trailer below, to hit much closer to the heart of troubling contemporary issues in America today.

Like “ObamaMania.”

Wow. Never would I have dreamed ABC would attempt something like this. FOX, yes. ABC, never.

The trailer looks intense and has many eerie, possibly deliberate (although the show’s producers say there is no intended attempt to mirror the Obama administration), details that do indeed mirror America 2008-2009. Whether intentional or not, the similarities are everywhere. Sci-fi imitating political life… could be a wild ride.

Parallels I noted from the trailer: I Heart “V” T-shirts, irrational adoration oozing from humans for the mysterious visitors, the desperation of people for unspecified “hope and change,” the demand from the visitors for only flattering press coverage, the childlike willingness of the masses to believe anything without a shred of evidence, the cunning use of well-crafted propaganda, the illogical devotion of so many people, the weeping in the streets for a “savior,” the attempts to silence dissenters, reporters being criticized for asking tough questions… it’s masterful. A page ripped from our nation’s history from the past year, with aliens from outer space replacing Team Obama and the devotion of humans for the visitors replacing ObamaMania. Bold, daring, and guaranteed to upset a great many Democrats, in Washington, DC and across the nation.

Will the White House/Team Obama or its minions try to ban or bad-mouth this new show as they have tried to marginalize and freeze out FOX News, or will they take the high road and simply ignore it, as any other normal presidential administration would?

CAN A CAT IGNORE A DANGLING STRING?

Within minutes of the pilot airing, you know that Obama-worshipping liberal blogger and fringe media attacks on “V” will begin. Anita Dunn will probably feign shock and say the show is un-American because there is no tribute to Communist Mao in it, or that it is racist because the word “alien” is used repeatedly. You know the drill they’ve been using on FOX and its talk show hosts. Depending on the show’s viewership and strength of scripts will determine how well the show will be able to weather any “Palinesque” attacks by unleashed liberal critics. But I could be wrong. Hope so. Because “V” looks terrific.

Americans are waking up to the brainwashing, to the propaganda, to the media bias for the past two years. If a major network is willing to push the envelope, take a gamble like this, it is a strong sign of resistance and I say bring on the chutzpah, ABC! Tremendous breakthrough. Stop being the media puppets you have been and examine the underbelly of the socialist/outer space beast. Be added to the Obama Enemies List (which grows by the week, so you’ll be joining good company).

Wink-wink-nod-nod on this show not being a deliberate political statement… no matter what a show’s spokesperson is currently claiming. You watch the trailer below and YOU be the judge.

The pilot airs tonight on ABC. Let the tides continue to turn…

Show’s tagline: We are of peace. Always.

Big Hollywood: Chicago Tribune: ABC’s ‘V’ Takes Aim at ObamaMania:

Big Hollywood covered this back in May, but it seemed too good to be true. It still seems too good to be true….

And we gave strict orders that our right-wing network television sleeper agents were not to be activated until after the holidays.

Don’t tell anyone, but the activation password was: Eisenhower.

Well, now you’ve done it Frugal! I’m not a great commercial TV watcher, but you’ve dangled the string and this cat can’t leave it alone – so I’ll be putting the DVR to work.

Gotta watch the election returns live, don’t you know – just in case the O-train goes off the rails a bit.

Don’t know if you received my reply to your last email, but the answer to your question is, without hesitation, affirmative.

    Best to you,

    Ztower

LOL – I’m not much on commercial TV, either, but I agree that this seems too intriguing to pass up. At least for tonight, the pilot premier. Hopefully, it won’t suck (the trailer looks great, but you know how artful editing in a trailer can disguise a turkey).

I did receive your email, and thanks for the permission, dear Ztower – I’m frantic about the election returns, too, but now I MUST watch this show. So I’ll be doing a lot of channel surfing. It’s looking good for Hoffman, but it isn’t over until the very end, so I never get cocky until the last vote is in (or before ACORN “finds” hundreds more votes to turn in, whichever happens first).

Am still at work, chomping at the bit to dash home. Maybe hubby and I will turn V into a beer drinking game… every Obama allusion, one sip of beer. Every time someone says “hope” or “change,” a sip – double sip if both appear in the same sentence at the same time, or slurred together, such as in “hopenchange.” All references to “global economy” or “global friendship” or “global peace,” one big chug. If more than one person is crying about their love of the visitors, another full chug.

Too bad it’s a week night. The “Obama-V” drinking game could be a real hit.

      • Ztower says:

Ha Ha! Hope you and Frugalhub have a bunch to celebrate because, coincidentally, so then will I.

Virginia looks like a clean sweep of Gov, Gov II and AG – currently by 30% lead. ABC already blaming Deeds.

Rooting for upstate NY and the biggie – NJ.

I’ll be looking for a full re-cap post at the Cafe tomorrow.

        Best to you,

        Ztower

  2. John Galt says:

I found this post because I felt there might be some political implications, but, upon further consideration, it seems that the statement might not be against Obama so much as telling of his role.

He probably was not directly targeted by Hollywood, but it sure seems as though there are fascist undertones in both the show and his presidency. Leave it to Hollywood to fail to connect the two.
