Controversial Sci-Fi “V” Mimics ObamaMania, Echoes ObamaCare & Media Bias… Hitting Too Close for Comfort for Team Obama? (video)
Posted By Vicki McClure Davidson on November 5, 2009
Intentional parallels or not? Coincidence or not? Hard to say. I watched the action-packed pilot of “V,” and it continually echoed national events, political parallels, and mass adoration of the mysterious alien visitors in ABC’s new sci-fi. Anyone who vehemently denies these parallels exist would seem to be protesting too much, or simply didn’t watch the show. The evidence seems pretty straightforward. But that’s my opinion. Let the “V” controversy begin…
“V” could be an effective, accurately aimed anti-ObamaCare/anti-socialism arrow, intentional or not… let’s see if “V” continues to hit its mark. Its pilot premier on Tuesday night had record-breaking numbers, despite being up against special election results.
The show’s producers say there is no intended political message in the controversial series and it is not intended to symbolically portray the Obama administration. That’s their story and they’re stickin’ to it, by golly…

From Chicago Tribune, ‘V’ aims at Obamamania:
Imagine this. At a time of political turmoil, a charismatic, telegenic new leader arrives virtually out of nowhere. He offers a message of hope and reconciliation based on compromise and promises to marshal technology for a better future that will include universal health care.
The news media swoons in admiration — one simpering anchorman even shouts at a reporter who asks a tough question: “Why don’t you show some respect?!” The public is likewise smitten, except for a few nut cases who circulate batty rumors on the Internet about the leader’s origins and intentions. The leader, undismayed, offers assurances that are soothing, if also just a tiny bit condescending: “Embracing change is never easy.”
So, does that sound like anyone you know? Oh, wait — did I mention the leader is secretly a totalitarian space lizard who’s come here to eat us?
Welcome to ABC’s “V,” the most fascinating and bound to be the most controversial new show of the fall television season. Nominally a rousing sci-fi space opera about alien invaders bent on the conquest (and digestion) of all humanity, it’s also a barbed commentary on Obamamania that will infuriate the president’s supporters and delight his detractors.

This next clip was included in the video above, but this is the longer version of Sean Hannity’s take on “V.” It was produced by Media Matters in an attempt, I’m presuming, to slam those who dare think the show reflects ObamaCare or Team Obama… let the clip speak for itself.

Because of the onslaught of vulgar, left-wing extremist hate comments (often with the F-word, or worse) against Sarah Palin and/or her children, anti-Palin comments are not accepted for posting. Don't waste your time trying. There are plenty of liberal blogs and Obama-run media articles out there bashing Palin... post your hate-driven criticisms on one of those sites. OK umm, I don’t really know what the problem is with some of these Obama followers. Although I did not see the Pilot of ABC’s V, I have seen the original from 1982 and think that it is in fact Obama, his admin and the current Whitehouse that may be in some violation of the story line LOL. You see, when V first came out Obama would have been fresh out of high school by only a couple of years. If anyone including the White House should watch the old on before complaining about the new one. Maybe they would see that what they are doing to our country is just plain wrong.
But that’s just my view.
“Violation of story line” – love it!
Daniel, my take (one of several takes) on this is what wrongdoers do when they think they are caught red-handed: they overreact in the hope to squash and intimidate their accuser. They try to angrily deflect criticism, bluster a lot, get purple in the face. The louder and angrier they become, they think we are being fooled, but the reality is the closer we have come to the truth of the matter. What ever that truth may be.
Democrats frequently accuse their enemies of those things they themselves are doing.
Good points on when the original “V” show aired, BTW.
Excellent post. Thanks
